@ArmoredSaint848 The HF20 has 32GB built in and is black instead of silver. Otherwise it is the same as the HF200. They are both old models and hard to find. BestBuy is selling them for outrageous prices. Try the HF M31 instead.
Alright so I want to buy this camrea. But I have a mac... I heard this file is some strange file that won;t import into like anything. I use Imovie... am I going to have any problems with uploading the files?
im gonna spend some of my graduation money on an hf20...refurbished 530$..good deal...im having alot of stress about it because ive researched every camera and ive chosen this one....is it good? i bought a sony cx110 at walmart for 500$ then returned it because i found i could get it online for 350$. i decided to order the hf20 because its better than the cx110 right? for 530$ refurbished. the cheapest i could find.
nice camera i guess with manual settings you will get better result at night. Also some extra lighting is acceptable and helps a lot :) Can you please tell me the name of the backround song?
Can somebody please help me. I am taking pictures of a fashion model and I know that professional photographers can connect the camera to a computer with a USB cable. When a photo is taken, the photographer can view it immediately on the computer screen. I am going to use the Canon Vixia HF200 as the camera for the photo shoot. Can someone please tell me how that is done? Thank you kindly.
i bought the hf200 a little while ago and the way it shoots is great. but it doesn't come with a converter to convert its .mts files into .avi or .mov. You've obviously done something right cuz ur video is online lol, what would you suggest is the best converter? also what are the minimum specs to play the video on ur comp? I'm at witt's end here so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi everybody. I have this camera, its cool as. Just wondering if anybody has ever used a wireless lavalier mic setup with this camera? If so what brand/model and what did you think? Cheers.
@ricardorichricardo i found a cheap wireless lav mic on amazon. it works alright. I do go through a mixer first though. I have to keep the audio attenuator on the camera on so it won't hiss, but it sounds alright. it's just some generic mic type deal, and a 100 dollar behringer band mixer
I have a Canon HF200 and recording it at 24mbps and without converting the raw footage if uploaded to youtube the video gets sound or video artifacts. Youtube's avchd decoding process needs to be tweaked. I record my video at 17mbps which is still 1920 x 1080 resolution but without the sound and video artifacts or one other option is to convert the video file before uploading to youtube with sony vegas pro or some other program...
Woohoo i got my HF 200 at last. OMG what a camcorder. It's absolutely the best camcoder i have ever bought. The only problem i got was when transferring the raw video footage to pc that the cam didn't like to be connected on the front usb ports. Mainly 'cause it is a 1.1 usb port or maybe some other reason. the fix for this was to plug it in the rear usb port which is connected directly to the motherboard which has the full 5Volts and usb 2.0 (480mbps)
Another option, GRiZLOC, is to pull the card from the camcorder and transfer the "Private" folder directly (intact) through a card reader. I do that as a way of avoiding Canon's software, which really isn't that great.
The Hf20 is a far better choice. 32gb running off the built in memory at a class 6 or higher rate vs the price of 32gb class 6 Sandisk memory card is about $100 cheaper plus the fact that the all a black unit, looks soooooo sweet!
I have the same camera and I just uploaded a video but the quality looks really bad on youtube. What format did you convert your video file to? Quicktime movie?
My partner in pain. It looks like we both took the same bate i.e. fell for the false advertisement. Despite the manual claiming that the camera supports 1080p @ 24fps and actually INSTRUCTING on how to set it to that mode, the produced video files are still interlaced - D'oh! Hence the bad quality after upload. Sorry! For the price of an HF200, you could buy 3 Kodak zi8 cameras and get a better picture quality. Although, it's fair to note that smooth zoom requires a firmware update for the zi8.
@leonardocullen215 Export your video using "Quicktime Conversion" if you're in Final Cut or "Expert Settings" if you're using iMovie. Click on "Options" and under under "Settings" select H. 264 compression type, 30 key frames, high quality. Under "Size" set the dimensions to HD 1280X720 16:9 and most importantly check the box that says DEINTERLACE video. Under sound settings choose ACC 48 kHz. Then hit save. Hope that helps!
hey... i wanna buy a canon hf 200 and can you plz tell me how many fps it has and what the difference between hf 20 and hf 200 is... i looked everywhere on internet but unfortunately i can't find anything -.- plz tell me =)
Great editing. Here's a question, if you used Sony Vegas... what did you render the video as? I've tried between .mp4's and .wmv's for quality... and neither seem to look as good as this.
of course they can :) premiere uses most file types and one of Final Cut Pro's boasting features is how well it copes with different formats editing together.
Using CS3 i have had some slight issues in editing large projects, issues that can't be seen until the final render is completed. With final cut, that problem is meant to be non existant, altho i haven't had much experience using it to know for sure.
Point is, it should handle just about any file format you through at it.
i dont have a mac so i cant say for sure, but if imovie 06 edition supports hd editing, you should be able to export in hd. then from there, upload it to youtube in hd. hope i helped. =]
great color and clarity but I notice it is not fluid and smooth. Some choppiness in between but I want to ask is it because I need HD monitor? I am so confused. I have a lcd monitor. Not sure if that's the case.
I've ordered the Panasonic SD 100 three days ago and sent it back because I wasn't satisfied with the sharpness. Now I've ordered the Canon HF 200. Your video shows what I expect of an HD Camcorder. Great pictures.Sharp and natural colors.

I just got an HF200, but when I upload my videos they dont look nearly as good on YouTube as the real video. How did you upload your videos? They look very clean. Did you resize, edit, convert to a different file type, etc? Thanks for your help.
I bought the camera my self last week and I am honestly impressed with it. The good thing is, that my wife is able to handle it. So get filmed as well. I find sade if I am never on any our videos. The only thing that I have to complain is the nerrow angle. I had to buy a wide angle converter. But I can live with that.
What program you are using to convert? i have also hf200 but i have a problem to find good converting settings... can you tell me which settings you used to get so good picture?
Well, if you live in a PAL region, that would explain why your options are different. It's shipped with different frame rate settings in regions that use PAL standards.
The HF100 has a larger sensor. The HF200 has a 1/4 inch sensor; hence the reduced quality. The manufacturer seems to have produced a 'next-generation' product with a poorer specification. Then, you have to get the next one and so on, and so on.... The HF100 is The One but the manufacturer will probably remove it from sale; because it makes the rest look average - or just about OK. It part of the game we all have to accept.
Hard Drives with hd camera doesnt work that well together since the hdd makes the camera shake a little, and with hd quality it is gonna be noticable on a 50" screen.and no the hf20 has 16gb of flash memory with a card slot so you can have upto 48gb of memory :O
a 1.5 or 2.5" HDD really has enough torque to affect the camera? I'd never have thought that to be honest. Obviously not while handheld, but guess it might be an issue when doing macroshots on a flimsy tripod?
how are you able to film HD and only get a 100MB file? i have tried various formats and they end up being between 200-400MB for only 3-4min. i am just learning about all of this. thanks for any leads.
QUESTION: Did you use imovie to edit this? If so how did you get the files to play on your Mac? When I plug the camera in is shows up on my desktop but I cannot open any of the video files because they are in CPI format not quicktime. If I can't get them off I am going to have to return the camera :^(
after you connect your camera to the mac, click immediately on imovie. sometime, it detect the camera. If it didn't work, plug the camera after opening imovie. I hope it work (for me, it works)
you can also buy SDHC card (to put on your videos) and a small usb adapter for the card
Name a camcorder thats ood in low light and ill give you a cookie. I wont be giving you a cookie because no camera in this lifetime will achieve HD quality or anything near it in low light. The image processors needs an abundance of light, no matter what camera you are talking about.
Great. You've told me wrong. BUT the Sony camera is almost twice as much as the Canon. Nevertheless I was wrong, and retract my statement. As for the cookie, im sure you wouldnt want to accept anything from a stranger. Besides, I dont make very good cookies.
ive had my eye on this camcorder for a while now and i wanted to know if this is a camcoder worth buying for skateboarding. ive seen the hf s10/100 and its qaulity looks better but the obtical stabilizer looks like shit. which one would u prefer for skateboarding.
the best camera right now "I think" Canon HF-S100 or HF-S10 (they are the same, it just one of them has a internal memory), I bought all new cameras Sony, Panasonic, tested them and I like Canon the most.
Hey, I'm planning a trip to Mexico. I would really appriciate if you can recommend me a good camcorder. I want good battery life ( i don't care to carry 2 batteries or one with extended life...) , I thought of the HF100, is it good camera? i will want to insert 32GB SDHC , will this camera let me to?
Hi i was thinking about, buying the HFS 100 ore the HF200, but are the HFS 100 also better in daylight and not only better at low light situations? BTW Really nice video, you know your way around editing. Thanks in advance.
You have a lovely family and live in a beautiful area. Not trying to be creepy or anything >.>

Its depends on how you use it (frequent zoom, lcd brightness).

Só acho essa câmera fraca na cor... Ela poderia ter mais cor, mais brilho e contraste... Vocês preferem Cmos ou Ccd??

Can you upload the raw MTS file of the Canon HF200 (with HD Quality) to youtube without conversion on a PC?

How do you change the frame rate to 30p?
I have hf200 but in frame rate menu i have 50i or 25p, and where is the 30p or 60i? :((( Say please!
skv1991 2 years ago
Well, if you live in a PAL region, that would explain why your options are different. It's shipped with different frame rate settings in regions that use PAL standards.

The HF100 has a larger sensor. The HF200 has a 1/4 inch sensor; hence the reduced quality. The manufacturer seems to have produced a 'next-generation' product with a poorer specification. Then, you have to get the next one and so on, and so on.... The HF100 is The One but the manufacturer will probably remove it from sale; because it makes the rest look average - or just about OK. It part of the game we all have to accept.

You're returning this to the store? And getting the HF20? Aren't those two the same?

Hard Drives with hd camera doesnt work that well together since the hdd makes the camera shake a little, and with hd quality it is gonna be noticable on a 50" screen.and no the hf20 has 16gb of flash memory with a card slot so you can have upto 48gb of memory :O
DaDruminator 2 years ago
a 1.5 or 2.5" HDD really has enough torque to affect the camera? I'd never have thought that to be honest. Obviously not while handheld, but guess it might be an issue when doing macroshots on a flimsy tripod?
HF20 has a 32GB flash drive AFAIK.

how are you able to film HD and only get a 100MB file? i have tried various formats and they end up being between 200-400MB for only 3-4min. i am just learning about all of this. thanks for any leads.

QUESTION: Did you use imovie to edit this? If so how did you get the files to play on your Mac? When I plug the camera in is shows up on my desktop but I cannot open any of the video files because they are in CPI format not quicktime. If I can't get them off I am going to have to return the camera :^(
stargurl3168 2 years ago
after you connect your camera to the mac, click immediately on imovie. sometime, it detect the camera. If it didn't work, plug the camera after opening imovie. I hope it work (for me, it works)
you can also buy SDHC card (to put on your videos) and a small usb adapter for the card

Low light performance on this camera is very poor.

Name a camcorder thats ood in low light and ill give you a cookie. I wont be giving you a cookie because no camera in this lifetime will achieve HD quality or anything near it in low light. The image processors needs an abundance of light, no matter what camera you are talking about.
tylerpomeroy 2 years ago
Sony HDR-XR500V
Do you want an address to send the cookie?
BulldogsRule12 2 years ago
Great. You've told me wrong. BUT the Sony camera is almost twice as much as the Canon. Nevertheless I was wrong, and retract my statement. As for the cookie, im sure you wouldnt want to accept anything from a stranger. Besides, I dont make very good cookies.

the best camera right now "I think" Canon HF-S100 or HF-S10 (they are the same, it just one of them has a internal memory), I bought all new cameras Sony, Panasonic, tested them and I like Canon the most.
