I hear from Bush about all the liberty & freedom that Iraq now has, but they have said they want Blackwater OUT OF THE COUNTRY, and now Bush signs another massive contract for them to be in Iraq for another year.
40% of yesterday's Petreaus hearing was dedicated to pontificating on how the 'Iraqis need to take responsibility for their own damn country' while the US policy continues to keep a tight grip on any real power the Iraqi 'government' wants to take. The warmongers can't have it both ways; either the US conquers the country, slaughters the opposition, and installs a dictator or it allows the Iraqis to govern themselves for better or worse. There's not a middle ground.
What the US wants is permanent bases in Iraq. If we have control over the middle east oil reserves we can force any country in the UN to vote with us.
Honestly, I doubt we have that much of a political plan. Exxon & pals want to pump Iraq's oil dry and trillions are going to everyone's contractor pals. It's just a way to make money, most of it being diverted from the U.S. people's pockets.
