For my birthday I recieved the offical 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Book which is immense. It explains each and every episode, showing the outline for a scene in that episode followed by what was said on camera and also the ideas behind the episode. Larry's friend had a answering machine greeting that Larry loved which said: "Hello...your screened call is very important to me. Please leave a message after the tone". (For English people, a screened call is an ignored call)
Actually what's pissing me off is I know this message and I wrote it in 1978 in New Jersey when Larry David could't even get arrested. But I'm not bitter.
If I ever go to New York or California and I DON'T overhear two Jews bitching at each other over something totally petty through an open 1st floor window I'm demanding my vacation money back from the Tourist Authority.
Oh you don't have a wife and your parents are dead! Without a doubt the funniest moment in Curb your Enthusiasm (next to Susie's 'bring me the doll head' speech) :D
Richard Lewis will be on The Bob Rivers Show today, June 15, at 7:35 AM Pacific Time. Tune into KZOK 102.5 FM Seattle or stream audio and video at bobrivers[dot]com
I can't find my favorite scene, when Richard tells Larry he has until sundown. I can't even remember what they were arguing about, but Richard gives Larry until sundown. Someone help me, please! Where is that clip?!
yeah haha thats so funny and the ending is such a classic curb moment "i found these tickets, but er i couldnt get through on the phone... i guess you guys dont have a machine?" PAHAHA!
have you ever noticed how Richard Lewis NEVER mentions Larry giving him his kidney in the new season --it's like it never happened and he's still such an asshole to Larry.
What is the message? I want to know what 30- second message is so great that they have this huge argument? Its gotta be funny as heck, right?! I mean - if both LD and RL are fighting over this funny message they created 7 years ago in paris - it has to be classic! I guess I'm the only dying to know such a minuscule detail.
If you read Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Book, there's something there about it. One of LD's friends had an outgoing message that said something to the effect of: "Hi, this is So-and-So. Your screened phone message is very important to me." And then later, LD asked the guy if he could use it in the show, but he never ended up putting it in. Either way, this scene is classic.
larry is cracking up when he says "foh-get paris." haha, in every episode i always look for the points when larry is laughing, and when i find them, it makes me laugh even harder
7 people think someone stole their answering machine messages.
