hello mate, hope you doing fine,i have converted my ozark resonator guitar to dobro and i have played my first tune with my home made compfortable steel slide ,i can make them where i work,i am sending you my first attempt at a tune ,a rolling stones tune,i,m not up to bob wills standerd yet,i will have to wait a few more hours for that lol, cheers ,your buddy jakethefiddle uk.
hi ,thanks for the vid ,tuning it up is very informative for me because i play by ear,i have a type of dobro at home but its set up as a normal guitar on the nut but after watching you having such a good time with this tuning i think i will make a new nut made from the bones of my lamb chop lunch, cheers ,jake the banjo .
I am a beginner and I am trying to learn your Wabash Cannonball version. I get lost on the D picking and which strings you are picking. Don't suppose you can do another clearer video? Or write this down like they do in some of the beginner books- showing you what strings to pick.
FlyingA, Thanks for your video, I am just learing the basics and I find you video informative and encourgeing. You have taken some of the stress out of learing and replaced it with joy, Thank you again!
And you are really helpful to beginners - I am going to try this myself - maybe one day I shall play 'Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain' - one of my favourite songs. Thank you very much.
I just love that sound and am saving up to get one, can't make up my mind on a flat-played square neck or a round neck so I can play it like a regular acoustic...
I'd like to thanks you. It's the firts time I try to learn something about dobro. Your explanations about tuning and basic tecniqu are so usefull to me.
I'm going to try, first with an acustic guitar. If I'm going getting better perhaps I'll get a dobro.
Thanks for your lesson, nice and simple. Just bought 3weeks ago the same Fender Dobro. And now today i saw your video lesson. Great. Greatings Etienne (Belgium)
I've been scouring the internet for information on a Dobro, and looking to see if I really want one, or if I'm just telling myself it sounds cool. This video made me decide that I need one.
Out of curiousity - is there a model (from what I understand, I would have an easier time with a square neck) that you would recommend, around $400 or less?
I'm not an expert, but i have been playing guitars for 30+ yrs..I think a square neck will give you a little more sustain and hold its tuning a little better.Personally i wouldn't go too cheap or you will be discouraged by the sound and playability..The offshore Beard gold tone is highly recommended for a good sounding and playing reso, also if it tured out it was not what you wanted to play,it would still have a good resale value..A cheap model wont...Carl
This is a fender/with a cutaway, built in tele pickup and fishman pickup, round neck.I am presently upgrading it with better resonator, tail piece, nut etc.O these videos i am playing it with no electrics..Carl
