The shisha gets burnt and A LOT of smoke gets built up and get filtered through water so its more healthy than smoking straight tobacco. It's like smoking out of a bong or a bubbler. its just filtered smoke.
@BboyRicksRR its not the actual leaves burning, atleast not if youre doing it right. the leaves just suspend the molasses and allow it to boil releasing flavoured vapours into the hookah. the temperature inside the bowl is usually no more than 400 degrees and tobacco burns at 800 degrees. wehn you smoke a bong or a pipe the "tobacco" usually holds a cherry which means it is burning at 800degrees or over but if youre smoking shisha and you remove the foil and coal you will notice its not cherried
@WolfpackMusicCo tobacco smoke of all varieties do not set off smoke alarms, the glory of science today. for some reason if you had a smoke alarm that it went off with it then it must be super old but usually in today's society anything YOU smoke won't set it off due to the dissipation after it leaves you.

@blahhhh4636 You were probably burning it. Try moving the coals to the edges of the bowl, putting less coals on, or get better quality coals.
