  • lol seriously, who disliked this video?

  • Calm down this is 2011.

  • that was some crap chainmail lol its problably butted chainmail which sucks i would like to see you take a swing at high quality mail

  • @TheGameBoy55 I second that. He just popped the rings open and they hung down leaving large wholes. I don't think it likely that he would have broken even one riveted link by chopping, though it is possible. Riveted mail can only be consistently bypassed by piercing or bludgeoning, and the former takes a lot of power behind a good weapon.

  • @Altonahk It wasn't meant to show how good the armor is, many good swords can't tear up butted mail that. Obviously it wouldn't have done it to riveted because no sword can, you can't say that that's not impressive though, this was part of a 4 sword comparison so I hope that explains why it's butted.

  • Haha just sayin that was a hospitaller, not templar xD

  • Hmmm, not bad... For its type it looks to be far too flexible as it seems to have performed poorly at the stab test.

  • what would happen if the internet was around during the middle ages....*shudders*

  • That's an expensive test, to do so much damage to the chainmail. That stuff ain't cheap.

  • @JohnRaptor

Yeah he ruined both the mail and the sword.

  • very nice demo... nice blade

armor seemed a little weak, but in all, very nice.

  • That was great!

  • Sorry to comment on that but your hat looks funny! Is that really protective?

  • I hope that was aluminum chain mail

  • And chainmail is made for slash resistance, dayum.

  • Really great vid, awesome sword to, was looking for a longsword type

  • God, Paul, I'd wish I had all those swords you got!!!

Altough the helmet doesn't fit to the mail, because a gothic helmet was used way after cahin mails were out of use in the armys...

  • well there goes my faith in chain mail armor

  • @XxAILASxX

Well, that would appear to be butted maille (the rings are just pressed together), not riveted or welded. If were one of the latter, the results would have been quite different. Butted maille is pretty much good for nothing but weighing a ton.

  • These Angus Trim and Christian Fletcher swords sure are great, ive had their Actium for a while and its been through a lot of abuse and still going strong.

  • like the way you give it your all in your test! if the test harms the blade?

    - so be it!

  • Very nice demonstration. I especially appreciate how it shows the effectiveness of armor as well. Woot for the double feature!

  • It's a lovely blade, but just a tad too whippy for my taste.

As for the chainmaille, it would have stood a greater chance had it been welded or riveted.

Also, what is the name of the song you used? it's awesome!

  • how would this do agains japanese leather plate armor?

  • Leather is quite resistant to cuts, especially if it's waxed or boiled. It's not very good against thrusts.

In short: better than a T-shirt, worse than shitty mail.

  • Whoa your test quality is going way up.

Very cool to see you using swords against actual armor!

  • well thats one dead solder of God.....also I would not like to be the guy that fixes the chain mail

  • That is one badass sword.

  • Damn! What a great sword, destroyed both the heavy-duty plastic and the mail. I'm guessing the mail was butted?

  • Lovely. 5/5

  • Good to see the video quality going up, good work commander-buyer-tester

  • Nice to see a face shield for once :)

  • Video tags could be more extensive.

  • nice music

  • Nice test. Good sword.
