I did something similar in school, (fifth grade) we were assigned to design a box or container that will hold an egg with anything BUT food...then she would drop it off of the roof, and see if it will break.
my project for this wasn't all fancy or what now. It was just a plastic bag with a bunch of cotton and i came in 1st highest we dropped it was from a 40 feet stadium.
@nlaballer were doing ours in tech class and we're dropping them out of a three story window, but were allowed to use wood (not a good idea..), bubble wrap, tape, nails, screws, fabric, but limited amounts of all of those and ours counts for a big grade... fun. plus we have to do the architectural 2d drawings of them
They should have tried dropping from the top of the 2nd floor of the building. We've tried it and it was successful using paper, cardboard and tape only.
we could only use straws (as many as we want), only one meter of tape, and depending on how much it weighed, it had to drop from a certain height for the best grade. if yours went beyond what was required for your weight, then you got extra credit.
