  • I dunno, it probably had to slow down for that curve.

  • Not that S curve, they're accelerating to 150 here. The Curve north of the station is 130MPH

  • @alx2925 Got it, thanks. Still, it's impressive.

  • Awesome!

  • to alx2925: Unfortunately you are correct it is unfortunate but because that part is so congested, they can't move any faster, but they are working on the tracks to make them better, hopefully when they get the new trains they can move faster.

  • That constant announcement is seriously annoying!

  • in US anything over 125mph is highspeed

  • 125 and over is highspeed

  • uh isnt that what i said?

  • man, the yellow line isnt that big, i mean, you could probably stand a foot behind the yellow line and stilll be able to touch the train

  • in 10 years from now, you all get to ride the high speed train, its comming to U.S.A

  • By USA standards, this is a high speed train.

  • It is too bad that it still takes 3 hours and half from Boston to New York by Acela.

When I drive(80 miles per hour) , it takes about 4hours.

  • Well because 1/2 of the trip it has to follow Metro North Rules and is allowed to travel 80 max. That what slows it down so much

  • well, you shouldn't expect any train, even electric ones, to be any faster than an automobile. If you want to go really fast, try air travel.

  • I would love to fly, but airline prices are so dam expensive these days

  • Flying is not worth the hassle going through x-rays, undressing, etc. plus waiting out on the runway for long periods of time. Just not worth it. I'll take the train any day. Longer trips I might fly, like cross-country but that's about it.

  • Hauling ASS!!! Looking foward to riding this summer.

  • one guy who was sitting stood up as a mark of respect.

  • @indianrailways

Hi Mr. Ranjith, How do you do? 2 years back you were so much deranged (in your eyes, philosophical and spiritual) you did undergo treatement in lunatic assylum and the doctor prescribed you to vent out ur frustrations. now last few days u r silent and that will not help u.

  • FASTTTTTTTTT

  • murjax, its the type of track. The track that was built between Mansfield and Kingston is a different type of track than the rest of the NEC.

  • How do they take those curves at 150 like that?

  • Just the way it was built i guess, they have switch's u can take at high speeds

  • Well I know the Acela was built to take curves at high speed, but I have to wonder why they can't go 150 everywhere though. What makes the "Fly Zone" any different than the 125 zones of Maryland?

  • I think the reason is, Maryland's right of way for acela, usually has tighter curves every so often(It's the former Pennsylvania railroad line), The Stations Acela provides service to(but not always stop at) are closer in length. You have 5 potential stops within 50 miles total length; Union Station, New Carrolton, BWI Airport, Baltimore Penn, And Aberdeen. The entire right of way is also service by MARC and SlowFrieght Trains use it as well.

  • There aren't any stops Amtrak makes between Baltimore Penn Station and Wilmington, DE. You're probably right though, the curves might be tighter there.

  • I saw the Acela on the show Extreme Trains and they said it needs special concrete rail ties to be able to go full speed.

  • That's what almost the entire Northeast Corridor has.

  • He sure was haulin!
