Reminds me of M.U.S.H.A. for Sega Genesis. Check that one out on YouTube.
About the background music for this one. AWESOME! It really reminds me of some real 80s song... We Belong TOgether or something like that... I'll think more and get back on that :)
Definitely let me know the song, I'm always interested in hearing similarities between video game and mainstream music! The music in Gate of Thunder was actually composed by a British dude.
All three 16-bit consoles were pretty equal in a lot of ways and one game on one system could've been made (given the developers weren't slackers) just as well on another. I always like to think of the Turbo as having the best traits from both Genesis and SNES, in hardware and software wise (Genesis speed, SNES colors, Genesis action games, SNES RPGs).
You can find them under the username "lavoll". If you want to read scans of the comic, go to archive(dot)org and enter this URL for the old website that used to host them: sardius.team-coti(dot)com.
Yep as OBK said, you are probably thinking of Lords of Thunder. The Sega CD version did a good job as a straight port, but as Johnny Turbo would say "It doesn't even compare!" ;) .
Yeah as OBK said, you must be referring to Lords of Thunder. The Sega CD version did good as a straight port, but as Johnny Turbo would say "It doesn't even compare!" ;)
I believe what you're referring to is Lords of Thunder, which did appear for both systems. Gate of Thunder (presented here) was only for the TurboGrafx-16 CD.
Really cool CD music. It sounds like something from the American soundtrack of Sonic CD *ducks and covers*. If you had the ability to switch between playing as Hunting Dog and Wildcat, that'd be pretty darn cool.
From what I understand, the soundtrack was actually composed by this English gentleman named Nick Wood. Really unique and awesome soundtrack and yeah, I wouldn't mind playing as the Wildcat :) .
Oh, good. I thought you would bash me if I mentioned the American soundtrack of Sonic CD since...I don't know how you feel about it, but I like it as much as the Japanese one. So I was right about a game that I've never played before's concept. That great (dancing)!
Oh not at all, I enjoy and prefer the American version! Granted I haven't really compared them much, but I wasn't impressed with the Japanese one. AMERICA RULES!
I know a few users here and there who have uploaded videos of both the American and Japanese music. The American soundtrack seems to fit more of the scenery of the levels, while the Japanese goes with more of the feel. A good example is Collision Chaos Present. It's a jungle-looking stage, but it feels like you're bouncing around. American goes with the former and Japanese goes with the latter.
As long as you do have both versions and don't mind playing through the whole game, then comparing them through real hardware is a good way to go. If you don't know where to look, a good person to turn to is HedgehogDude18. He's got most, if not all, of the tracks uploaded from his iPod. There are a few in my playlists and in our group.
Definitely. Assuming that you were referring to HedgehogDude18's Sonic CD music, you can view his channel to see proof! If you were talking to Keranu, I can't really help you. It's hard to tell since your comment appears under mine.
Ah, OK, I see what you were referring to now. It's okay if you think the Japanese is the best, and Keranu perfers the American version, since it's only a matter of harmless opinion-sharing. I like both of them equally myself.
I'd knew you would say it again. It seems that Black Tiger likes the Sega CD version better, too, and Joe Redifer is give or take on both (that's all of the opinions that I know of at the moment).
I suppose, then, that is why neither you or Joe Redifer have any Japanese imports as far as I know of, but SuperPCEngineGrafx is pro-USA for certain versions of games. As it appears to be safe to say here, since I forgot to do so a few days ago, your birthday have been uploaded, and they are the rest of the Mega Man 2 videos, starting on Bubble Man's Stage (NES Music).
Now that I've thought of it a bit, I'm a bit pro-American myself. I perfer Super Mario Bros. 2 USA over Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan, for instance, and some edits done for games imported here are more suitable than the way they were originally. Nevertheless, I do perfer Japanese games over American ones overall, but I do like the older American-made games just about equally to the Japanese ones, especially those on the PlayStation. You're welcome, also.
Generally, there are a lot of better things about Japanese games, but people are often quick to criticize American versions of games so much that I think they don't even realize what they're talking about and how there are a good number of American games that are better than Japanese.
Indeed, Japanese games have superior aspects over American games generally, such as better animation and creativity in ideas, but I can't say that there are a number of American-made games that are superior to Japanese ones since I don't recall ever meeting one. I definitely do agree, though, that American versions of games are nothing to be totally put-down, though, since edits in them can make the games for the better.
I think one example where the American publishers really went out of their way was with Exile: Wicked Phenemenon by adding parallax scrolling to stages since the Japanese version didn't have any! Working Designs also made Exile: WP a lot harder for the American version, which is a good or bad thing depending on who you ask.
Hmph. That's interesting. I have never known that. I'm pretty sure there are more examples like this, but they may be hard to come across, for they occur compared to consoles instead of reigons.
Thanks for the comment and rating :) . It makes up for my disasterous ratings for my "Ulead Video Studio test" video :D !
I was browsing through the CD tracks to find which song to use and this one just stuck out. The weird part is that I am having the HARDEST time figuring out what part of the game this song plays! My favorite track is probably stage 5 (which is like my favorite stage all together).
Gates of Thunder and Lords of Thunder! epic Turbo Duo games with great music!

This game has some pretty awesome music. I didn't know the Grafx 16 had this great a sound chip. Pitty the machine was never released UK.
But ecco is still my favorite, for game music that is.
TheInvalidUserID 2 years ago
I don't think Gates has any chiptune tracks, as least from what I can think of.
Keranu 2 years ago
Then I must say, it had a pretty good built-in music thingy. No idea what to call the thingy.

@TheInvalidUserID All the music is off the CD mate!

has a very thunder force feel to it

Definitely Thunder Force inspired, but I love GoT waaay more. So much more polished, in my opinion.
