  • what is a good organ to get this sound?

  • this song is NOT a tribute to 9/11... it was written and recorded WAY before that... it just happened to come out on 9/11... So get over it... it has nothing to do with 9/11

  • comparing radiohead to wilco??? i guess that's why america is losing it's freedom of speech, when 90% of what comes out of the peoples mouths is BS. i wouldn't act differently as a governor/prez XD

  • my hometown , could`t believe wilco made it to nova scotia headlining, and i travelled to see them play to 500 or so on the gibson guitar factory roof in memphis thinkin the`ll never play here. Sometimes it`s nice to be wrong!

  • Jay Bennett die today

  • heartbreaking - as a New Yorker all I hear on this is 9-11

  • i agree so much man that day is one of those burned in your memory and certain things just bring you back quick this one fore sure, i can still se the look of relief on my moms face when my dad finally waked in the door from"work" that day at the towers (it cant be called work that day) great song and tribute if u ask me

  • This is the only song I really like from them but it's probably my top 5 songs of all time! Not that anyone here cares...just saying...if people can say they've been listening to wilco from way back. I can surely say this :)

  • it's a good one, but yeah,

lots of the good songs are hiding on Being There and Summerteeth especially.

Summerteeth is probably my favourite wilco album.

  • being there is a simply genius album, the new wilco album (wilco) is also very good

  • Man. I was so into these guys ten years ago. Nice to re-discover them. Tweedy's lyrics are are so brilliant "You were right about the stars, each one is a setting sun" gorgeous!!!!

  • WTF? Radiohead vs Wilco... wow

Both great bands. Both great song writing. Radiohead just chose a path of electronic rock while Wilco is more of country and jazz.

You can´t compare them... and this is good song!

  • listen to reckoner, thumbs down version. its good in its own way.

  • and so how about tweedy vs. madonna?

i think both have tits but madonna's are better.

  • i live ten minutes from alderney gate, and i missed this, i didn't know it even happened until now, i wish i would have been more informed, very nice job thanks for sharring it.

  • this is honestly the best song, its my favorite. i am new to wilco though what other songs would i like that are similar to this one?

  • WILL EVERYONE PLEASE STOP COMPARING RADIOHEAD AND WILCO?! sure i understand the similarities, both have evolved to become increasingly critically acclaimed and experimental, but really, I love both bands and I honestly don't know how to compare thom yorke to jeff tweedy, or greenwood/o'brien to nels cline. they're all good in they're own way! so just listen to one or the other, or both. since when was music really about competition?

  • I completely agree. They're apples and oranges. Its up to the listener to decide what is the sweetest. One is melodic and beautiful, one is weird and cool. Isn't it cool that there are cool bands out there somewhere?

  • Yeah those two bands are completely different and it's quite silly to compare them.I love both but I prefer Wilco because I am more into americana stuff.

  • I agree with you 100% (except for one minor detail that I hate both bands); however, everything you wrote is on the money.

  • It took me a few listens to love this song.

  • these guys are the best.

  • WHAT

I didn't know he came to Aldreney Landing, I would of went if I'd known.

    Yeah, he's MORE than average.

  • Well lets see here, radiohead is in the rock catagory for starters. So that would make the two bands completely uncompairable. Secondly, have you ever picked up a guitar or a keyboard and tried to play half of the shit they play. Tweedy is probably one of the most amazing song writers to date, the only thing that york knows how to do is work a computer and sing. His lyrics arent that great, and all he does have is a bunch of layered tracks that put you to sleep.

  • if you knew abnything you would know that thom york is an amazing pianist and greenwood is a musical genius. bands like radiohead and tool have made such amazing contributions to music, i would say they will and have changed the music of our future with their amazing influential and original genius. other people on this thread were comparing them and i said there is no comparison due to the fact that wilco is not even in the same league and bands like radiohead. wilco is just another band.

  • Just the fact that you mentioned tool says it all. You and tool suck.

  • Radiohead nuthugger alert.

  • RADIOHEAD AND WILCO?!?!?! PFFT whoever reckons they're alike needs they're fucking head examined. and i reckon wilco is shit. my mate does a better version of this song. UP YOURS !!!!

  • I live in Halifax and can't believe I missed this concert. One of my favourite songs off a cool album.

  • i'm sick of hearing radiohead and wilco comparisons. hardly alike.

  • wilco is so good that it doesn't needs to have in their concerts background lights and all that stuff, only the music.

that's one of the issues that make radiohead and wilco different (not similar)

  • great band. each album is different too, they don't fall into one groove and repeating them selves. sound likes like Sparklehorse only more upbeat.

  • They're my two favorite bands, with Radiohead being my favorite. I must say, Wilco has a dreamy sound that Yorke and Co. could never get.

  • I think Rhead are dreamy too, but more from other side, they more depressive but also more intensive what makes me love them:) Wilco are great, but i listening them quite rarely, still i admire them. I think their music is more like "hold my hand and i will hold yours", although it is question of the mood also, and i do not want to vilify this music, there always was and will be such bands. They are not as unique as Radiohead for me.

  • I like that, "hold my hand & i will hold yours".. it's very much like that.

  • one of the best songs ever

  • where is wilco from

  • chicago, illinois

  • ummm...actually Belleville, IL - the st. louis area.

  • tweedy's from Belleville, but the band Wilco is based in Chicago.. Uncle Tupelo were all from the St. Louis area

  • Dudes...Wilco rules....Seriously!!! Go Jeff!!! Great songs ... keep playing....love you...

  • If you love this wonderful song

then look at this swedish indie band

    w w w(dot)myspace(dot)com/bbatr

    enjoy it. Cheers!

  • Goosebumps! And that Norwegian winter is not to blame..

  • anyone here like radohead?

People say wilco is like the american radiohead

I kinda agree but not really

    just love'n it!

  • yeah theyre like radiohead...in the last 2 minutes of poor places and the last 13 minutes of less than u think...maybe radio cure too

  • No, not at all like radio head. I disagree, but I do hear why you might say that... I think they are classified as alt country (I think that's mistakin too) just because of the lap steel. Hard to classify, but you don't hear lap steal in radio head, these guys remind me of Brandon Benson, just a bit.

  • The only thing they have in common is they write great songs and have a unique style...and they both rock.

  • kinda see where your coming from, the noise tracks and chaos parts maybe resmemble some parts. i think radiohead are a bit more prog where wilco's noise is just nuts.

  • trollfinger, you are the only one of these guys that I agree with. In Rainbows was probably radiohead's best record. i got the box set and the vinal sounds great. also, sky blue sky was probably the best or second best behind yankee hotel foxtrot. Im going to a wilco concert and I hope they will be as great as they were the other times I saw them.

  • Man, i saw them in november and they were amazing. i saw them once before but it seems they are on top form now. the only problem is they can't have enough time in the world to play evry song you want. but any amount of wilco live is a good fix. hope you enjoy it.

  • Wil-P:

Radiohead doesn't do this kind of good stuff.

  • Please don't involve Radiohead. The two bands make very different music.

  • That means nothing, bobby; without comparisons, there is the death of Rock'n'Roll and free speech.

  • Ok, maybe you're right. But Why compare an alterbative country band with an alternative rock band at all. I think that if you want to make comparisons it has to be within the same field. Or else, it's like comparing Mozart with Britney Spears.

  • Let's just call Radiohead----"alt.schmellie."

  • Unfair. Why do people feel the need to stack rank everything? They are different bands. Enjoy each for what they are.

  • fucking douche bag

  • Crout:

The reason is both Radiohead and Wilco were compared non-stop thruout 2007, a year whch was big for them both.

  • This is one of their best songs.

    Fo-Sho!

  • i just posted my own version of this song u should check it out and lemme know what u think!

    PEACE

    -Sami

  • guardianista you make a very good point, and I must admit I've been part of that "sea" at a few shows, but it's not always for us to re-live at home, sharing the music and the moment with those who weren't able to attend is a major part of it, but anyways great vid kirk, this song is truly amazing.

  • why don't people watch the band at shows any more? every gig is just a sea of little LCD screens so people can re-live it at home in low-res monophonic glory.... get down an feel it, leave the microchips alone for a few hours....

  • You wouldn't be enjoying this if they did, buddy! You can't have it both ways ;-)

  • I saw them in Southaven, MS and Meridian, MS. I melted the first time, and melted even more the second time, even though it was two years later. Marry me.

  • seeing them in November CANT WAIT!!!

  • Are there any existing clips of this song actually with live violin?

  • i love this song!

  • I was at the landing, standing near the band. The sea, fog, mistic and beutiful. A concert of dreams. I will remember this forever.

  • how this band has changed my life this past month!!turning my orbit around like the big-time. yankee hotel foxtrot on mindcandy is the best thing you can do to realign your compass............

  • Debating whether this should be our "first dance" song at our wedding ... I love this song so much.

  • I only really heard this few days ago when i gave yankee hotel a spin. Hit me immediately. Class

  • tweedy is a musical genius, I've seen hundreds of shows and wilco is one of my favs. New album coming out soon. My friend has underground copy

  • Nice song

  • I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

this is one of their most amazing songs too!

  • I LOVE THEM SO FUCKING MUCH!!!!

  • best wilco song

  • After Son Volt, this was the best band to spin off from Uncle Tupelo.

  • Is that sarcastic compliment? How many bands spun of Uncle Tupelo?

  • Best Song ever

  • so good

  • i think taht spain need wilco too.

    enormes!!!

  • this guy's singing 'our love is all we have' and I, to my utter astonishment, believe him. wow. fantastic song.

  • awesome song, awesome band, jeff tweedy is a legend

  • q grandes, spain wilco, we need youuu
