Hey DEMCAD, I know you probly get a ton of comments everyday but I hope you can take the chance to look at this. I wanted to say thanks for making all these GREAT videos. You are a huge inspiration and a huge source of information that you generously provide to us(your fans). You are a great man!
Just my opinion but i store water and dehydrated foods that require nothing but water. canned fruit and vegies have apprix 1/3 to 1/2 a cup of vitamin and sugar rich water. vaccume sealed pakg. of tuna will last 2 years and fantastic source of protien. I also suggest having a bug out food bag seperate from the rest! lets face it everything you cannot carry is just booty for the shit heads raiding your castle! and ammo I go to ammoman.com free shipping and cheep!
If you are on a budget the Morman Cannery is the best place for long term storage food. You don't have to be a Morman to buy from them. Food last 30 years and cost around $22 for a 25 pound case of 6 number ten cans. If you are not near a cannery just visit a Morman church and they will help you make a order.
you have like 2K worth of firearms and say you are broke? During Katrina, the dangerous looters were the policemen with guns.
Here is a sad reality.
Most of the people that buy guns for protection will most likely be the people looting. They will feel as though they have a right to sustain because they "prepped". They will team up like the hive minded individuals they are and rob farmers and those who actually prepped..vs buying SPAM and canned soup. Prepping is more a state of mind.
Hey DEMCAD there are a few shelf stable items you might want to consider. ChefBoyRD, Dinty Moore, and Spam have a very long shelf and I mean a long shelf life. Decades even. It might not taste as great that long from now but it should have most of its nutritional value.
DEMCAD HI, I recommend as SHTF cooking equipment, the CampChef@ two burner stove with oven., that would really come in handy in order to bake bread, rolls, biscuits or whatever you need. It is 4509 degrees capable, which is a real plus. It works with the 1 lb propane bottles and there is an adaptor hose for using a larger barbecue propane bottle. It's nice and there's a padded ripstop bag with handles that can be purchased to store it in. I bought one last fall and IZ am sure glad I did.
@indman101 I have a book that everyone should read, to get an idea of just how difficult and horrific life would become after an EMP. It's called One Second
@Wolfielou I havent read it but I hear it's a great book, most people will run out of food and water before our government can respond,Iran and north Korea are working together on an e.m.p that's why you see missles being a failed attempt while being shot off of a ship, they know what there doing and we will be sitting ducks if we dont plan for our family
Why do you need so many bullets? What are you planning on doing with it all? You realise you will NEVER get the opportunity to sit up in your house leaning out of the window while you mow down 'bad guys' trying to rob your corn and flour.
You have more than enough AK ammo and shotgun ammo work on you 45 and 22. You cant eat bullets. My personal thoughts are that you will use the 22 because its quiet and the shotgun for big bad guys. And the AK is a great intimidation factor. Right now Cabela's has some blazer TNJ 45 and 9's for a great price.
I just feel that we need food and water most. Just finished "1 second after" if you take out the drama and just pay attention to whats happening you will c what u need
Read The Hunger Games! Definitely got me thinking SURVIVAL again. Yes, it's going to be a movie, however as a former survivalist (and Navy enlistee and junior Army Officer and who is currently a hurting unit), this book trilogy really got my mind back into shape/inspired, It's a trilogy, I just finished the second book Catching Fire. Can't wait to read the third! Adults will find this book gripping despite it's target audience being young adult/teen. This trilogy is NOT Twilight or Harry Potter.
Demcad, please tell me why you would need these amounts of ammo and guns. I feel like I'm missing something here. I thought it was for self protection. Does the average person really need this much ammo? I am only one person and can only hold 1 gun at a time, what kind of gun would you recommend for me to purchase? I am a single female who is a bit afraid of guns, but know that I have to purchase one this year FOR self protection. I really like your channel and all the info you give. Thanks!
@CAngel57ful You don't need that much ammo. DEMCAD just likes guns -- nothing wrong with that, we all have our own hobbies.
He's actually got signficantly fewer guns and ammo than most preppers, some of whom have small arsenals. What it is that makes people prep apparently also causes them to buy guns.
You're like me -- 1 gun is all I would ever need or want. Don't let anyone convince you that you need surface to air missile launchers in order to defend canned goods.
I like AIM as well, great prices usually on the AK and Mosin rounds. I'm in Ohio as well so unfortunately I get stuck paying tax on it. You've got a great start Demcad, way more prepared than 99% of Americans.
DEMCAD........................YOU are SO on the NDAA list Bro!!
Oh ya!...especially with all your informative videos, telling folks the USD is in trouble, telling them to buy silver, heck you're on the list just because of your food storage let alone your ammunition and other prep-gear.
You'd better recant and vote for Ron Paul in November or else, knock, knock crash! down comes the door and off goes DEMCAD to Camp FEMA for an undetermined amount of time or until the war on terror is over!
Watched that movie The Road last night, it was a good flick but really a dramatic film. Thanks for those movie reviews and ya gotta love Deliverance too, LoL! These movies make you wonder how a shtf scenario would really effect a person. I think the gardening is gonna be the hardest part because of all the pollutants in the soil and the bugs. I have trouble in my garden every year with that.
@dezzra78 Have you tried a lasagne garden? You build a box garden and fill it by layering nutrient rich bio-degradable items like kitchen garbage, newspaper, grass clippings. manure, ashes, cardboard, a sprinkling of Epsom salt etc. We built those and the gardens went crazy! There are some home made bug deterrents you can use from essential oils, or use a water/dish soap option (don't spray during flowering). Some ppl mentioned dichotomous soil but I can't find it here.
Here are some more tips (ive been working on it lately)
#1 DRY beans. very cheep, storeable, can be used to make sprouts which are super dense with everything
#2 Vitamins. Its way easier to get the full nutrients necessary from a vitamin, if you do not have access to fresh foods ie no garden
#3 Spices. I noticed that the spices in this video are branded. check out middle eastern shops, as they have higher quantity of spices in tubs for much lower prices.
Hey DEMCAD, you commented on saving nails for "improvised" use... was it in regard to ammunition or just general all-around jury-rigging of structures?
FOOD SENSITIVITIES: Reginald mentioned storing food that you like to eat. I couldn't have said it any better the he did. A tangent on that notion, & one which we had to build our food storage around, is food sensitivities. A family member has a lot of sensitivities to different foods (some of them may be severe enough to cross the threshold into true food allergies). Some of the symptoms developed after we had our 1 year storage in place & we had to reconfigure a lot of what we have.
90% of you will not ever need to use a gun. The other 9.999999% will only have to show your gun (any gun) to some punk trying to steal stuff for the situation to be resolved.
If you want to horde guns, fine, go ahead, there are weirder hobbies out there for sure. Just don't pretend like you need 20, 30, 40 guns with entire rooms full of ammo in order to be safe.
PROTEIN: If you have the inclination, time, outdoor space, and no restrictive ordinances I suggest you look into raising chickens or rabbits as a source of protein for your diet.
We have a small flock of 4 chickens (we had 5 but 1 died last fall) in the backyard and they give us 20-22 eggs a week. It's an awesome source of protein that provides fresh eggs year-round!
COOKING OIL: Make absolutely sure that you store your cooking oil in a very dark place like a pantry, closet, basement storage room, in a covered box or bag, etc. Cooking oil is very sensitive to light and will begin degrading within moments after exposure to light. Cooking oil is just one of those things that can't be stored long-term so suggest you take light-protective measures to make it last as long as you can.
COOKING: Reginald forgot to mention solar ovens. We have one & cook roasts, chickens, meatloaf, casseroles, bread, rolls, muffins, desserts, & on & on.
Two awesome things about our solar oven: 1) It folds up to about the size of a large briefcase in seconds & is portable, and 2) It requires ABSOLUTELY NO FUEL. As long as you have access to sunshine, you can cook food.
The solar oven is an awesome SHTF tool &, as a bonus it keeps the house cooler in the summer. Recommend you check it out.
if the chinks are gonna make our shit they need to LEARN HOW TO MAKE IT RIGHT!!! im tired of these commie slant eyed fuckin pricks fucking everything up
Reginald suggests having three months of food as a safety net. That's probably a realistic goal given the dreadful economic environment in the U.S. but it's only about 1/4 of what you would need in a true hardcore food shortage. Let me explain.
Farmers have known for eons that a 1 year supply of food storage was necessary to ensure their survival because if weather or some other event ruined their entire crop they could survive on stored food until the next harvest, ONE YEAR into the future.
@bee13zz That would take more money and space than most people have. Realistically, if there is an end to food production for 1 year, that would more or less imply civilization has come to an end.
If you really think civilization itself is about to end, well, you've lost me.
@123gwf :) End of civilization scenarios would lose me too. However, we can't ignore the global weather extremes that seem to be getting worse with each passing year. Commodity crops have been hit pretty hard and it's not unrealistic to envision large-scale crop failures that could at the very least drive food prices through the roof (meaning the very poor could no longer afford basic foodstuffs) or create real shortages that everyone would feel.
@bee13zz It is unrealistic to envision famine in the United States in the near future. Large scale crop failures? There's no evidence to suggest that is likely to happen anytime soon. Crop yields have been increasing, not decreasing, and that isn't even taking into account the amount of food we grow for fuel (bio-fuels).
The only plausible scenario where the poor can't eat is if Republicans get their wish of eliminating food stamps.
@123gwf I took a lot of climatology classes at university MANY moons ago & 1 professor stated that global warming (it was called something different back then) which was just showing show early signs would begin to cause weather to gyrate back & forth from one extreme to the other in increasing severity & that floods & droughts would effect global crops.
Use whatever planning factors you like but just know that severe crop failures will likely appear suddenly leaving little time to adjust...
@123gwf Can I think of other reasons to have more than three months of food storage on-hand. Sure. How about this one:
A novel influenza virus mutates into a strain that is easily transmissible from human to human. Social distancing goes into effect which eventually ramps up to each family seeking isolation within the walls of their homes for at least minimal protection from spread.
It is a fact that this scenario has happened. Read about the plague & about the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic.
@123gwf Here's another reason to have > 3 months of food storage in your home.
Suppose you or I have been hanging onto our jobs by our fingernails, hoping we won't be canned in the next company downsizing or labor outsourcing. Suddenly, we're called into a small office, told we're no longer needed & then escorted off the premises.
Now, in normal economic conditions (if there is such a thing) we'd probably find another job in a month. Not now. Some have been looking for work for a year!
@123gwf At any rate, each of us has to decide the scope and breadth of our emergency preparations. It's a very personal thing. But, we (and our families) need to be willing to live with the consequences -- good or bad -- that stem from the choices we make when times are good.
Preparing, by nature is one of those things that can only be done before an event or crisis occurs. Wait too long to start or make poor choices in planning and the opportunity is more than likely lost.
@123gwf i think thats what gman45 is saying bud lol. i think gman is saying after 10 days people will go ape shit and therefor u cant get out and gather whatever else u may need so get it now. mabbe im missing the point?
My original point was that 1 month of water is not enough, and that water is more important than guns. His response was "after 10 days, all bets are off" meaning planning beyond 10 days is pointless, which I disagree with. All preppers disagree with that.
I don't really care what he meant. The original point I made is obvious: water is more important than guns.
what do you think about a secret stash somewhere in the house DEM?
figure worst case, and they come collecting firearms..I always thought it would be good to have something back. I saw on tv that sometimes they use metal detectors to find stuff like that. A good location would have plumbing or electrical to disguise the magnetic signal.
@PestControl02 Of course they will collect guns. That's exactly what they did in New Orleans after Hurrican Katrina. And, btw, there was not a single instance of "from my cold dead hands" (everyone passively gave up their guns).
And while they are collecting guns, they'll take whatever else looks nice. Of course it is illegal, but they'll do it anyway.
@DEMCAD Have you seen that TLC is coming out with a show called "Dooms Day Preppers"? Just goes to show you that there are others out there, and I bet that this show will only be on for one season. Very sad
@DEMCAD If yout go interview a expert and do a video on this loaded mag question I WILL. This comes up in EVERY gun video made that has mags. We must get to the bottom of it once and for all. You or me, bud. Your choice.
May I suggest some #6 shot for your shotgun, nice to have a box or twelve! Just in case you need to dispatch small critters and it can be a good close quarter defense round in house. lessens the chance of over penetration. Ammo will keep longe time, very long time if kept in cool dry place, variations in temp and exposure to hmitdity is what will kill it. As for the mags, I never store them completly full, 30 rd mag, I put no more than 20 for keeping around.
@DEMCAD buy your 7.62x39 by the case. it's much cheaper. Well in canada, atleast. a box on its own is like 5 bucks, but if you get a case of 1120 rds in a sealed can, its only $160, making it $2.85/box.
@DEMCAD ya you can get 1000 rounds from aimsurplus for $189.00. But 1120 for $160.00? I want to know where that deals at LOL....I will take 2240 please :)
@TheVert1276 well, the closest local place that I get it for $160 would be a home hardware store in yorkton sask, they have a website, I think, google it if interested, regular price is $169.99, but it goes to $160 a couple times a year.
@DEMCAD Truthfully, at $160 here, I still end up paying around $185 considering tax and fuel, so $200 isn't too bad, the problem is that the united states blocks norinco ammo. If they allowed it into your country, I bet you could get a case for under $150, possibly $125. Because I used to sell at gun shows up here in canada, and I know the dealer pricing that I personally saw on the cases of 1120 rds was $100, not including customs, shipping, and other taxes.
@korboismywaifu Certainly. We often have new sks's here for between $170-270 depending on build quality. Also, for about $600 we have CZ-858's, which were originally used by the turkish and israeli army, as vz-58's. They have been re-fitted with new furniture and new barrels and made semi-auto. They look similar to an AK but they are lighter and arguably even more resistant to jamming due to foreign objects, because of the way the bolt locks as opposed to the ak style bolt. Also mini-30, ect.
A good prepper food often entirely overlooked is whey protein isolate ( protein shake powder). It is highly condensed protein, cheap, and lasts for years.. It also, obviously is extremely fast and 1 easy to prepare..don't think any other protein source is easier, actually.
Reginald, you should NOT keep rotating the ammo between mags like that as you will wear the spring out by flexing and compressing it over and over. I have left mags full for years and they performed just fine. Great videos!!! I have been watching you for a while now and really enjoy them.
check into Boku Superfood. It is light, stores well, saves room, no cooking. almost complete nutrition ifyou get the protien and the "superfood" (no vitamin A!). I got some of the protien and the superfood just to try it out and the protien tastes much better than other protien powders i have tried (its brown rice protien). Did you ever get any seeds for sprouting that you mentioned? if you store long term be sure and vacuum pack them and if you can put them in the freezer after that even better.
I think you should alter your idea of protecting the food. I can see your more than ready to protect it from something/someone that weights more than 5 lbs -- what about all the other things smaller? Possum, coons, rats, mice, bugs those are all things you should be protecting your food from! Your more likely to lose it to them than a 2 legged predator, IMO. And although I commend your food preps - you need MORE! good luck - love the videos =)
Demcad if you can get a hold of it Yugo surplus ammo is good stuff. Its actual brass cased ammo not copper washed like a lot of surplus 7.62x39. It is corrosive but take a spray bottle with windex in it and just spray it down the barrel in the receiver dry and then clean like normal. Some people say the windex doesn't really neutralize the corrosive salts but just just flushes them out. Either way it works. That and if you have enough brass cases maybe you can make a few bucks scrapping them.
im thinking about getting a nice bb gun for hunting small game, light plenty of ammo not real noisy,it can be deadly to or a nice deterrent .beats hunting squirrels with a 12 gauge
food i think is second to water.a good supply of food ,cant live off cans ,all the crap they put in them, dried foods nuts, maybe wild edibles, but with all the pollution have to be careful, rabbits squirrels ,and what not.water.water only last so long, soon youll have to treat and filter it.it pisses me off that these upper class buttheads and govt nazis drink clean fresh glacier water, prob have it flown in from antartica just for them while we get treated sewage and runoff to drink.
You might want to get a gun safe for your stuff. Also for hunting try running trot lines with chicken liver it will get you a meal and get some traps. You can catch squirrels in them. It will save you ammo and make your hunting easier.
something you might think about is what i call "brain food"...that is sweets or comfort food...you won't miss them till they're gone...hard candies pretty much last forever...if you were forced to live on your food stores i guarantee its something you'll be happy you had...
@MARTIALLAWLESS I made comment like yours before I read your comment. I totally agree. People got to realize that food stores will have to be rationed and there could be need to spread out time between meals to make sure food lasts.
@XKaffe hahaha great minds think alike eh?...not only would things like hard candies help to stretch your rations by giving you something to chew on...... they would also bring just a little bit of pleasantness into a hard time...thanx for the comment ...
I dig this kind of video. I would love it if you would add some Alex Jones type scary music in the background like the stuff from endgame.. It makes me want to go rotate loaded mags.....
Sgammo has very good prices and really fast shipping, the 2 orders I made with them were shipped the same day. I did place the orders early in the day. Cheaperthandirt is also fairly cheap especially the Tapco mags for the AK. Good to check them all to see what they have on the day your looking for stuff. I haven't tried Aims yet but im sure I will one day.
@eyewarnedyou Funny my parents never said they had any financial or economical difficulties at that time period and if there was it might have been isolated to your area and I'm sure it was nothing compared to the financial collapse of the great depression
question, how much does that big box of ammo cost and does ammo go bad? i mean does it have an expiration date? maybe throw a packet of desiccant in the jars with the ammo to keep the ammo dry? a tip to people is if your water is shut off, you can drain the hot water heater and you have 40gallons right there. i know cause my water was shut off and used that water to wash.
@lineartechbd1600 also, go on google earth and find the low spots in your area and make yourself a fire hydrant wrench. you can get water out of the system, just do it relatively soon after the water goes offline
I wonder if this is true, there was a article a few years back about senior citizens eating cat food instead of normal canned goods because the cat food had more protein and was healthier due to less added msg and such.
Something to add about food storage, to take your supplies from a 3 month to 6 months is things like wheat, rice, bean. It is about having things to eat, people have lived for thousands of years with out canned stew. A 50 pound bag of wheat can be as low a $20 and with that you can make breads, sprouts and so on. Adding that to you canned food storage could easily double your food stores. Just my thoughts not bashing anyones ideas as long as your are storing it is a good thing.
i try to keep at least 6 months worth of food on hand its a on going thing to build up your food supply like you said if you use 2 cans of your food next time you go shopping replace the 2 cans with 3 cans that way your adding to it i just belive that if 3 months just isent enuff because if its a long term thing you will need time to plant and harvest foods from your garden if shtf in the spring then 3 months might work out but winter time your screwed if your up north
@vention4wh On the corporate sponsored entity on diet: You're darn right! Im 6'4" and if I followed that crap BMI bullcrap I would be a stick rail with zero energy to do squat! I do t know who or what they created the BMI from but it sure isn't from anyone that has an ounce of muscle tone.
@DEMCAD Do you have a farming video? I heard that people were buying the abandoned homes in MI , knocking them down and using the land to farm. Does this have any truth?
Best weapon=collectivism, work together with other good people who are good leaders with real solutions and not the pieces of shit get placed into office aka puppet sluts!
real solution=none profit energy at super low coast
give schools,hospitals,free energy
go electric everything, cars=no gas price AT ALL!
OWNED BY THE PEOPLE AND NOT A PRIVET PIECES OF SHIT!
@FIZZEL415 man you don't understand THERE IS NO SUCH THING LIKE FREE THINGS. Someone has to pay for it, sex isn't free, one way or the other you have to pay....
Every prepper on youtube makes the same mistake -- way, WAY too much emphasis on guns and ammo, and not nearly enough on WATER.
If you plan on cooking your food AND washing your ass AND drinking enough water to stay healthy, just about everyone I've seen will run out of water in a month, max.
they make these giant storage containers for liquid. they are plastic in steel cages and are bigger than a washing machine. maybe get one of those put it in the basement and fill it up. then use it as a buffer in the same way you use a hot water tank. if water is cut off, you have instant access to hundreds of gallons of water. maybe connect the washing machine to it so you always have fresh water.
@helpearthbounding Even better learn how to distill water. You can turn the dirtiest of water even urine into lovely fresh drinkable water. Boil the water and let the steam condense on something cool then collect the condensed fresh water in a clean container. To remove compounds that evaporate with the steam finally filter through charcoal or bonechar. That'll give you a pretty much endless supply of water. Obviously this will require some kind of fuel to boil the water in the first place.
@TheHolySpirit buy copper tubing from a hardware store and make up a fitting so it can thread into the pressure release nipple on your pressure cooker. Easiest way, and dirt cheap.
@helpearthbounding they should only be used when no other option is available. they kill all the good bacteria in your entire digestive system, leaving your guts defenseless later, against bad bacteria. A healthy body requires an intestinal tract flourishing with good bacteria, like the acidophilus family, etc.
@123gwf Not me I have a 8,500 gallons in pool, two rain barrels, 3 big burkees, 3 drums of water, one skid of bottled water, collodial silver, chlorine, 6 extras filters
You dont even wanna now about our food and ammo and guns lol,
@123gwf You are missing the point. 10 days after a significant event all bets are off. Whatever scenerio plays out, after 10 days "without" ATM's, fastfood chains, gas pumps, coffee, cigarettes, beer and medications the locals will be on the move.
Hope for the best and plan for the worst. Take care Gman
@MrGman45 I'm not missing the point, I just disagree with it. The whole point of prepping is to survive longer than the average person would if there is some sort of crisis event, i.e. longer than 10 days.
A HUGE problem I personally see in all your videos is that you are really disorganized. Your food on the shelves is a mess, you don't seem to know where things are at, you have to count how much ammo you think you have.... ALL these things should be second nature to you. Personally, to me, being hyper-organized is very important.
If you get into a stressful situation, you'd look like someone in a hollyweird movie running around trying to find things, all the while losing your composure.
I keep several mags loaded but I also bought a stack of mags that I keep empty. I go shooting with the mag I keep full and when I get a misfire (hasn't hapened yet) I'll label it "junk" and throw it in my junk box. I might be able to use the parts someday.
if you're thinking of picking up more ammo for that ak - you should really go with the brown bear soft point ammo- just as cheap as wolf, but after seeing the tests on fmj vs. hp, vs. sp that dave fortier did...i would shoot nothing but brown bear 125 gr soft point in a defensive use ak...everything else just zings right through- those sp's explode...real nasty..
What I like most about you Reggie...is your humility and honesty. You're down to earth- a REAL URBAN person involved in the learning process. I commend you.
>"That is the DUMBEST thing I have EVER heard anyone say!"
Wow, you're both obnoxious and wrong. I pealed 19 lbs off since november by cutting back on protean and fat, but my energy level is great. I splurge on steak and a big baked potato when I feel like it but usually my meals are low fat and low protean these days. I've tried low carb and it didn't work, but I tried this and it works. It's results that matter to me.
I could care less about what some corporation or corporate sponsored entity says is a species appropriate diet. Those entities serve the system and they exist to make money. Don't trust them.
What I care about is results. Going from very tight size 48 coveralls to my old size 46 pair from 2005, that's real. Taking the stairs 2 at a time the other day when I haven't done so for years (and feeling great), that's real. It works and it's awesome.
Well said. I pealed 19 lbs off my butt since novembe by cutting back on protean and fat for most meals. I still go out for a big steak when I feel like it but my routine diet is heavy on carbs but low on protean and fat. I feel so much lighter now and I'm wearing clothes I haven't been able to wear since 2007. And I have about a year worth of grains and legumes.
You need Tabasco. All of that food is crap without it.

Thanks!
CAngel57ful 1 month ago
@CAngel57ful You don't need that much ammo. DEMCAD just likes guns -- nothing wrong with that, we all have our own hobbies.
He's actually got signficantly fewer guns and ammo than most preppers, some of whom have small arsenals. What it is that makes people prep apparently also causes them to buy guns.
You're like me -- 1 gun is all I would ever need or want. Don't let anyone convince you that you need surface to air missile launchers in order to defend canned goods.

I have trouble in my garden every year with that.
dezzra78 1 month ago
@dezzra78 Have you tried a lasagne garden? You build a box garden and fill it by layering nutrient rich bio-degradable items like kitchen garbage, newspaper, grass clippings. manure, ashes, cardboard, a sprinkling of Epsom salt etc. We built those and the gardens went crazy! There are some home made bug deterrents you can use from essential oils, or use a water/dish soap option (don't spray during flowering). Some ppl mentioned dichotomous soil but I can't find it here.

@BewareofFlatteries Naw, I haven't heard of that but it sounds awesome! Thanks for the tips and I'll have to look into that.

Some of the symptoms developed after we had our 1 year storage in place & we had to reconfigure a lot of what we have.
bee13zz 1 month ago
90% of you will not ever need to use a gun. The other 9.999999% will only have to show your gun (any gun) to some punk trying to steal stuff for the situation to be resolved.
If you want to horde guns, fine, go ahead, there are weirder hobbies out there for sure. Just don't pretend like you need 20, 30, 40 guns with entire rooms full of ammo in order to be safe.
123gwf 1 month ago

Reginald suggests having three months of food as a safety net. That's probably a realistic goal given the dreadful economic environment in the U.S. but it's only about 1/4 of what you would need in a true hardcore food shortage. Let me explain.
Farmers have known for eons that a 1 year supply of food storage was necessary to ensure their survival because if weather or some other event ruined their entire crop they could survive on stored food until the next harvest, ONE YEAR into the future.
bee13zz 1 month ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@bee13zz That would take more money and space than most people have. Realistically, if there is an end to food production for 1 year, that would more or less imply civilization has come to an end.
If you really think civilization itself is about to end, well, you've lost me.
123gwf 1 month ago
@123gwf :) End of civilization scenarios would lose me too. However, we can't ignore the global weather extremes that seem to be getting worse with each passing year. Commodity crops have been hit pretty hard and it's not unrealistic to envision large-scale crop failures that could at the very least drive food prices through the roof (meaning the very poor could no longer afford basic foodstuffs) or create real shortages that everyone would feel.
One year of stored food should be the goal.
bee13zz 1 month ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@bee13zz It is unrealistic to envision famine in the United States in the near future. Large scale crop failures? There's no evidence to suggest that is likely to happen anytime soon. Crop yields have been increasing, not decreasing, and that isn't even taking into account the amount of food we grow for fuel (bio-fuels).
The only plausible scenario where the poor can't eat is if Republicans get their wish of eliminating food stamps.
123gwf 1 month ago
@123gwf If we run low on food. We'll eat the republicans first.
Mrhumantiger 1 month ago
@123gwf I took a lot of climatology classes at university MANY moons ago & 1 professor stated that global warming (it was called something different back then) which was just showing show early signs would begin to cause weather to gyrate back & forth from one extreme to the other in increasing severity & that floods & droughts would effect global crops.
Use whatever planning factors you like but just know that severe crop failures will likely appear suddenly leaving little time to adjust...
bee13zz 1 month ago
@123gwf Can I think of other reasons to have more than three months of food storage on-hand. Sure. How about this one:
A novel influenza virus mutates into a strain that is easily transmissible from human to human. Social distancing goes into effect which eventually ramps up to each family seeking isolation within the walls of their homes for at least minimal protection from spread.
It is a fact that this scenario has happened. Read about the plague & about the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic.
bee13zz 1 month ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@123gwf Here's another reason to have > 3 months of food storage in your home.
Suppose you or I have been hanging onto our jobs by our fingernails, hoping we won't be canned in the next company downsizing or labor outsourcing. Suddenly, we're called into a small office, told we're no longer needed & then escorted off the premises.
Now, in normal economic conditions (if there is such a thing) we'd probably find another job in a month. Not now. Some have been looking for work for a year!
bee13zz 1 month ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@123gwf At any rate, each of us has to decide the scope and breadth of our emergency preparations. It's a very personal thing. But, we (and our families) need to be willing to live with the consequences -- good or bad -- that stem from the choices we make when times are good.
Preparing, by nature is one of those things that can only be done before an event or crisis occurs. Wait too long to start or make poor choices in planning and the opportunity is more than likely lost.

@greatwhitejake You missed the point.

@PestControl02 Of course they will collect guns. That's exactly what they did in New Orleans after Hurrican Katrina. And, btw, there was not a single instance of "from my cold dead hands" (everyone passively gave up their guns).

@TheVert1276 well, the closest local place that I get it for $160 would be a home hardware store in yorkton sask, they have a website, I think, google it if interested, regular price is $169.99, but it goes to $160 a couple times a year.
Yankeeprepperasshat 4 weeks ago
@DEMCAD Truthfully, at $160 here, I still end up paying around $185 considering tax and fuel, so $200 isn't too bad, the problem is that the united states blocks norinco ammo. If they allowed it into your country, I bet you could get a case for under $150, possibly $125. Because I used to sell at gun shows up here in canada, and I know the dealer pricing that I personally saw on the cases of 1120 rds was $100, not including customs, shipping, and other taxes.

@Yankeeprepperasshat If I may ask what rifle can you buy in Canada that takes a 7.62 round?
korboismywaifu 1 month ago
@korboismywaifu Certainly. We often have new sks's here for between $170-270 depending on build quality. Also, for about $600 we have CZ-858's, which were originally used by the turkish and israeli army, as vz-58's. They have been re-fitted with new furniture and new barrels and made semi-auto. They look similar to an AK but they are lighter and arguably even more resistant to jamming due to foreign objects, because of the way the bolt locks as opposed to the ak style bolt. Also mini-30, ect.

Draegn 1 month ago
Something to add about food storage, to take your supplies from a 3 month to 6 months is things like wheat, rice, bean. It is about having things to eat, people have lived for thousands of years with out canned stew. A 50 pound bag of wheat can be as low a $20 and with that you can make breads, sprouts and so on. Adding that to you canned food storage could easily double your food stores. Just my thoughts not bashing anyones ideas as long as your are storing it is a good thing.
woodturningjohn 1 month ago
i try to keep at least 6 months worth of food on hand its a on going thing to build up your food supply like you said if you use 2 cans of your food next time you go shopping replace the 2 cans with 3 cans that way your adding to it i just belive that if 3 months just isent enuff because if its a long term thing you will need time to plant and harvest foods from your garden if shtf in the spring then 3 months might work out but winter time your screwed if your up north

they make these giant storage containers for liquid. they are plastic in steel cages and are bigger than a washing machine. maybe get one of those put it in the basement and fill it up. then use it as a buffer in the same way you use a hot water tank. if water is cut off, you have instant access to hundreds of gallons of water. maybe connect the washing machine to it so you always have fresh water.

@DEMCAD you should look into dehydrated water...

@123gwf 10 days after significant event, 10 days, after that all bets are off. Hope for the best and plan for the worst. Take care, Gman

@MrGman45 There is not a single prepper on youtube I am aware of who claims that 10 days of prep is all one needs.
There are non-preppers who have 10 days worth of stuff.
123gwf 1 month ago
@123gwf You are missing the point. 10 days after a significant event all bets are off. Whatever scenerio plays out, after 10 days "without" ATM's, fastfood chains, gas pumps, coffee, cigarettes, beer and medications the locals will be on the move.
Hope for the best and plan for the worst. Take care Gman

@MrGman45 I'm not missing the point, I just disagree with it. The whole point of prepping is to survive longer than the average person would if there is some sort of crisis event, i.e. longer than 10 days.

Reg,
A HUGE problem I personally see in all your videos is that you are really disorganized.

I might be able to use the parts someday.

if you're thinking of picking up more ammo for that ak - you should really go with the brown bear soft point ammo- just as cheap as wolf, but after seeing the tests on fmj vs. hp, vs. sp that dave fortier did...i would shoot nothing but brown bear 125 gr soft point in a defensive use ak...everything else just zings right through- those sp's explode...real nasty..

you dont need much protein and fat. But you need a lot of calories. Carbohydrates are the bodies gasoline, stock up on grains!

That is the DUMBEST thing I have EVER heard anyone say!
You obviously know NOTHING about a species appropriate diet and are part of the reason there is so much BAD INFORMATION on the internet!!!

@MARINE1146

@Mongodelight
