So good & Really great to see Male health care workers given equal oppertunity to work in this field, all we ever see is females in these situations. Go guys wonderful equality at last, well here anyway.
God bless you........my dad was just diagnosed with prostate cancer and his doctor does not want to operate on him. My dad is 74, his doctor says he has cancer almost all over the prostate. I hope my dad lives another 15-20 years... but will see what the good lord has in plan. I just don`t wanna go into shock when the day comes that my dad leaves us, I hope my faith comforts me on that day. I hope you feel better and keep your spirits up. God bless.
Oh, yeah, the patient survived, but the doctor died. Like something out a Steve Martin movie. Unfortunately, it's true. My doctor; Dr. Cook expired during my treatments. May God have mercy on his soul.
It does not hurt, but I had to be off my arthritis meds the whole time, and I was in so much pain from the arthritis that it was really hard to stay still.
What you see here is one of my earlier treatments, and notice the big beer-belly I had back then. It went away. I was 186lbs when I started, and 151lbs when I finished. I'm gaining some of that back now, and I'm up to 161lbs now.
When I posted this, I was told 25 treatments... but that was just for the cancer that had spread.
Doesn't hurt. Radiation kills cancerous cells and healthy tissue. The idea is to minimize the dose to healthy tissue and try to treat just the tumor. By delivering it in fractions (treatment each day) it enables the healthy cells to regenerate and repair to a certain extent.
This was Phase I, which was 3 fields. My Phase II was 7 fields, and was on a Varian Clinac IX linear accelerator. The treatments in phase II were much more involved and longer.

Machine looks like a Varian Clinac 2100 SL to me. Trilogy's are silver (except for Lady Trilogy's which are pink.....)

After I was in for PHASE 2, it turns out that the rads were taking such a toll on my bod that I was sleeping almost all the time.

Why medics are with the patient... should they be outside the room to avoid radiation???
UnoAluminio 3 years ago
They leave before radiation is on.
wizard921 3 years ago
The treatment did not start yet but as soon as the machine is on,they must leave the room.

Was that IMRT?
It seemed to me like 3dCRT.
Only 4 fields.

7 fields doesn't have to be IMRT. Only if each field consists of several segments or have moving leafs one can speak of IMRT. Otherwise it's 3dCRT.
