Classical concerts, King Crimson concerts, heck, even Ulver concerts all have people sitting down. Generally, the more artsy concerts are seated so the music is the focus.

No it's not... it depends on the person. For the person just standing there enjoying the music, yes. But for the people headbanging, drinking, moshing etc., the focus may not necessarily be the music but rather having fun.

@21stCSchizoidName Sorry, I disagree with you. Headbanging is a simple reaction to heavy music. They headbang because of the heavy music being played. If it was just a matter of having fun, then they wouldn't need to headbang with the music, would they? Same goes for moshing, although that seems to apply more to your reasoning for fun.

Your argument would make more sense if it was just a person sitting and LOOKING at the performance. Then I wouldn't disagree with your stance (no pun intended).

I don't know about you guys, but if I were sitting in a theatre, I probably wouldn't appreciate it if the people in front of me decided to stand up and wave their filthy-ass hair around, obscuring my view. Is the average 'metalhead' really this rude? I understand the enthusiasm, but come the fuck on, it's a theatre and the chairs are there for a reason.
