It is interesting that at the end of his life Beethoven sketched an Andante theme for a planned string quintett which is very similiar to the main theme of this movement. Actually this was Beethoven's last sketched theme for a slow movement before he died!

With the key words "Beethoven last thoughts" you can find an attempt of a realisation of this last sketch.

Except for Mr Pichler being a bit rough at times, this is absolutely wonderful! I cannot imagine Beethoven played better than ABQ do!

I think Beethoven never heard it performed this beautiful in his life. As goes for al of his other pieces.
