The writers decided to disguise Leeves' pregnancy by giving Daphne a "weight" problem. You might notice that many of the episodes during the middle of season eight feature Niles giving Daphne sweets and her being obsessed with eating. After her "weight" gets really heavy, Martin and Frasier start to make comments and she leaves to go to a "fat spa" and returns back to normal (Ep. Daphne Returns). During that time, Leeves gave birth to a 9 lb 12 oz. girl.
After all these years of REPEATEDLY watching Frasier...I can not understand how i never came across this particular episode...well..i m thinkin its a christmas surprise...Oh lord..Aren't I pathetic?
@CKRB4ever No I don't think so at all. I think you are an absolutely "delightful creature" with all of the refinement and good taste of Frasier himself...now who's pathetic? Lol. Corny jokes aside, it's comforting to know that someone else is spending some time watching Frasier today.

@thegreatherox He never made a guest appearance in Friends as Frasier, or as any other character. He was in an episode of Wings as Frasier though.
