Oh yes...I used to play this stuff in a band called One Nite Stand (all we ever did) based in Chapel Hill, NC. Exact same line-up (I was on Trombone most of the time. Everything from High School Proms to backing the Four Tops. Fun! Miss it!
I worked as a recording engineer in NYC in the 80's on. Mr Wonderful, Lou Marini, Malone, George Young (Sax!) and Will Lee bass. What a bunch of No1 players!!!
@eltonjim Anyone can SAY that. For all we know you spent the 80's handing out balloons at McDonalds to support your crack habit. As for the musicians you mentioned, those NY, corporate studio guys tend to be a little overrated.
You might want to check out my band's new "Peter Gunn" video. We play for the love of making music, not for money.
@saintsdavid2 It's pretty simple to get sheet music for the Peter Gunn Theme. most of what the trombone, the trumpet, and the sax were doing was improvisation, so no sheet music.
I find it's a lot more fun to just go with the flow and figure it out myself than learn sheet music. It gives the final performance more character.
@2davidstains I wouldn't worry about buying charts. It's always best to just go with your heart and not get bogged down with reading notes off a page. It will end up sounding stiff and contrived that way. As a professional musician, that's probably the best advice I can give you. See my band's new "Peter Gunn" video if you have any doubts what I say is true. Good luck and keep practicing!
I've played a few gigs with Bones and with Mr. Fabulous. Awesome guys. Youtube "Blues Brotherhood". We don't have footage up of the gig with Malone and Rubin, only one of the gigs we played with Bones. It's always fun playing music with living legends. I can't say enough great things about those two guys.
yo trumpet man i play trumpet and i juz want to say dude ur are AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! dude how do u and friends remeber all those notes??????? any way awsome job!!!!!!!!
Thats pretty good to be in a high school jazz band, although very hard to believe unless much talent level goes up in the few years that you. It will definately take alot to build a range past 2 octaves. I can play 6 now. I am taking private lessons though, and I am playing in a few symphonies at this time of year.
If you like it you can be great, practice as much as possible and even try different instruments. I think the key is to play music you enjoy. You're only young once so make the best of it.
you look at this and wonder how kids can call the crap they listen to music.Makes me wish I could play-no shit i actually have this record-yes kiddies -vinyl-did i even spell that right?lol?play it every once in a while but forgot for awhile - thanks for bringing the smile back
The crap kids listen to now isnt music, music requires skill and talent. Any dumbass can program a drum machine. I could write that shit all day long on a $150 casio keyboard. These guys are truly among the best musicians in the world.
