I wish there would be a harder course of military discipline. Long term manditory PT etc.; weight lifting and weapons training hand to hand. Airmen if properly trained and built up could get in the fight. Their mission is more technical; but in the heart of every airman is a soldier waiting to come out. We worship the ground the grunts walk on. More sweat on the training field less blood on the battle field its a good thing. Discipline. Hard training builds confidense and self respect.
i'm a bit biased as i am retired a Army vet.i always wanted to serve in the Army honor guard in DC.never got to with the fact i'm vertically challenged.(5'6") and ya gotta be at least 6'0".i always believed the Army Drill Team was the best. however, judging from the vids i watched of AF Drill Team,....well,...all i can say is damn these guys are good!reeeeeally good.
I have never seen this button before... But I saw a button on the video box that said "1911" and when pressed, it makes the video look like some old time thing with weird music...
Ex Canadian member myself. Ignore the others saying Canadian drill is better. They're totally different styles. I liked the sharpness of the Canadian Drill, but the spinning/tossing rifles looks wicked too
haha, Im canadian, and I'd have to agree with you eichampt1... I have seen many canadian aircadets, and many canadian military members... personally I believe they look very unprofessional... no one can beat the USAF honor guard!
@C2dltCAP Dont say Air Cadets are un-professional ive seen many Drill teams who do real drill not monkey drill the best of all im an SIC grad if you know what that is with the AFMA
american tax dollars at their finest. hmmm. tax dollars spent on protecting those who would critique how tax money is spent while bitching about having to pay taxes. now THAT's tax dollars at their finest.
That comment was more as a compliment than anything else. Most of these guys are on active duty. Money well spent if you get recruitment up. That's what I meant.
communistSpartan, please accept my sincere apology. there is so much negative hating and inaccuracies on our sites, one can easily become jaded.and presumptuous. such was my case. thank you for being kind enough to correct the situation. if you have any questions about the drill, you're welcome to ask. accurate information beats silly comments and interservice ignorance everytime.
It's all right, apology accepted. I guess that is what I get for my username. As for the hating, you should see some of the videos that are as innocent as Chinese music. Look up the Chinese National Anthem or something similar and you will see all the negative and (sometimes though common) racist comments.
I have seen Canadian Air Cadets do sharper drill, Canadian drill i find to be better because its more sharp, and simply looks better.example to and from attention and at-ease we bring our legs up and down, dont just slide our foot, our foot drill simply looks alot better.consequence of this is that its harder to learn so amateur soldiers dont look as good, I agree with your comment on professionalism, Canada is one of the best trained thus most professional militaries in the world
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
well looks like americans can do drill....sometimes, i respect your rifle drill, but really you have got to get better/ less sloppy basic drill (attention at-ease, turns, marching etc) gotta have good basics before goin for the crazy stuff (monkey drill ) :P
aw an i seen a a minor error... when they did that toss as the announcer says they're the only drill team to do this.... i guess someone threw too hard and caused a member to the right to take a step back. =/ other than that well done. =]
@TalonsArmedDrill It was the greatest 5 years of my life. I strongly erge every young airmen to do it. Being a Staff Sergeant now, it gave me all the tools I needed to excel in my career/life. Not to mention traveling on the road with 20-25 of your best friends all year round is awesome. However with all those perks it was also one of the hardest things I ever had to go through. I would do it all over again right now.
@TalonsArmedDrill It is supposed to be, I was on Firing party first for 2 years. Once I was made a trainer on the element (which means you are on top) I decided to challenge myself and go to Drill Team. once you are on Drill team you extend your tour for another 2 years. It turned out to be three haha. I have heard of some people staying for 7 years. However those days are long gone. Now usually people stay for about 3-4 years.
@TalonsArmedDrill Well if you arent over 5'10 sorry you wont be in THE USAF Honor Guard. If you are on a base honor guard still very admirable. The tips I can give are these, 1 find out who the best is and learn from him, become his/her shadow. If you learn from the best you will be the best. 2 Stay away from the trouble makers, being in the USAF Honor Guard is lke being in college, lost of fun, but lots of bad temptation, stay away from it. 3 treat every job like it is your last
@BUTCHUSAF dang i'm 5'9" hahaa I have been looking into the Base Honor guard. I have to do my CDC's of course but I can't wait to start. #3 actually hit me hard cause you're very right on that. thanks for the advice. and it was very cool, and nice talking to you!

your looking at the US air force honor guard's field manual with M1's
plus its exhibition meaning its not regulation at all, some high school teams have better routines than this
but precision here is consistent and evident.
