  • Luv it sounds great!!!Stop being so picky people ur prob juz jealous and I'm a drummer myself but I will say nothins perfect but sounds awesome!((:

  • 4:12 = Gabe

  • @partyboy, It didn't seem clean to me, The basses sounded off in the beginig.

  • This is so damn clean.

  • whats the name of this cadence

  • @MusicteacherDHS I was being sarcastic. Thom Hannum is in the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame...

  • Yeah,it`s clear that their band director does`nt play.

  • @miahmiahboo1 Their director is Thom Hannum. Definitely not.

  • @clarkferry and @miahmiahboo1. I'm not sure what you mean by their director doesn't play... At the time when this was performed the late great George Parks was their director. Thom Hannum.... the man who wrote the music for Blast was their drum-line instructor and his now the leader of the marching band....

  • I wonder if these people can do it blindfolded

  • @arche178 They don't even look at music or even their drum... of course they can

  • check out phs drumline 2011 cadence

  • too bad their football team sucks dick

  • @roxfan28 Yours?

  • i love it but the best parts are exactly copied from electric wheelchair by the santa clara vanguard

  • @DaJmsta Hate to break to ya- but we were playing variations of this cadence back in the 80's at UMASS. It has of course grown in complexity every year, but the fundamental elements have remained (especially the First 16).

  • got dizzy at 3:48 :)

  • Way better in the block. Great cadence !

  • very nice guys, I like how it pulls many different cadences into one piece - well done - very clean - best I've seen in a long time!

  • I enjoyed the video, and the beats, but I'll never understand why college lines in general (not just U-Mass) resort to ripping off drum corps cadences, watering them down and expect everyone to get excited. It's like watching reruns on TV. So many of these college corps style lines have great instructors and great players, why can't they put their heads together and write some original beats so we have something new to get excited about? Obviously the kids have the talent to pull it off.

  • @IrishKiltie19 Which drum corps cadences, exactly, is UMass ripping off here, keeping in mind that this cadence was originally written in 1992 by Colin McNutt?

  • @tjkelly00 Well SCV and Cavies for starters. Check out some lot videos from the 1980's and they'll sound familiar. Again, I'm not singling out U-Mass, like I said it seems to be a trend in college lines. If I got paid a $1 for every college line that played a drum corps cadence or warm-up, I could quit my job. The Illini alone might be enough to pay my mortgage... Just type Electric Wheelchair, Ditty, Bunco Rules, Latin Lover, etc into YouTube sometime and you'll see a trend.

  • this makes me proud to be in the drumline

  • i have watched this sooooo many times i can play it.....verrrrrrrryyyyy badly..

  • 1:08 starts the best cadence ever called street beat

  • imagine how awesome that drum major must feel leading that mass of awesomeness.

  • Yea.. Threw A Little Electric Wheelchair In There!

  • Absolutely sick!! thanks a lot for posting this video.

  • I'm pretty sure that the 3 people who disliked this were just jelous. There is no way to seee this video and go "man, UMass sucks. My drumline is so much better than that." It's just not possible. :P

  • that was amazing. wew

  • so groovy and crisp. love it

  • Freakin amazing cadence!!! HELL YEAH!!!

  • does anyone know where I can get some quads like thoughd?? (:

  • @zzzjjjful that's easy. just order it customed directly through pearl. it will cost you a shit load h/o.

  • This makes me proud to be from Massachusetts.

  • damn

  • ..i.....i think i felI in love!

  • ..i.....i think i felI in love!

  • RIP George Parks <3

  • I love 1:08

  • Ps. Imagine being in the porta-john when these guys come around. id want to start crapping in time.

  • awesome awesome drum cadence, i learned the snare part for it off the paper while listening to this video, its great! :D

  • That was cleaner than an unsuccessful hooker's vagina

  • ' im a filipino but i like this... im from drums and lyre

  • That was amazing. Everything was tight.Amazing drumline.

  • 7th bass at 3:06 "where am I???" lol.

  • @drumer93 im a bass drummer in my high school band and i have to march the biggest bass which is bigger than a concert bass drum so like 2 1/2 to 3 ft diamator and i cant see above it so i have to see to my side so befor you say stuff like that, not saying you mean it in a bad or mean way its really hard to see where you are going

  • @rentin7 judging from your description, imma say that is either a five or six bass drum. May even be a franken-bass. i marched the three this past season. im moving to sousaphone next though. my heart lays with brass.

  • @Laughingmans6 yeah i march a 5 bass well not any more but use to we r in winter percussion and i play accessories... oh joy i wanted to move on to tenors but someone took them

  • @rentin7 sucks for you. honestly does, no sarcasm intended. i wanted to move to tenors, but i fell in love with the tuba. im playing baritone this concert season because we only have two tubas and both are being used. next year though because one of our tubists is graduating and going to college.

  • those ten snares are cleaner than we can get our four to get.

  • Consistently one of the best cadence combos out there! Got snippets of some of the best grooves of all times mixed seamlessly together into a great groove. Lovin the plate line! Gotta give a shout-out to the cymbals out there! All too-often they get overlooked.

  • where's the basses part. I love the quad part

  • Hey, is there anybody that has this transcribed? This or USC's cadence transcribed, and wants to be a bud and send it to mee?:D

  • I have a fever...and the only cure for that fever...is more cow bell.

  • That's different, there feet are straight. We usually have theme 45 degrees apart. Haha oh well

  • you can never have enough cowbell :D

  • lot's of it is copied, it's good but not original

  • Pretty sure every one of the snares is marching/has marched corps. Intense line.

  • @griffinthe The head of percussion studies at UMass is Thom Hannum... what do you think?

  • god...if only the person with the camera were roll stepping!

  • @trombone667 thats how i record subconsciously XD

  • lovin it learng it

  • lol electric wheelchair at 1:08

  • This is SICK drumming! GO UMASS!!!

  • OMG THAT WAS SO DIRTY!

  • @msagan914 how was it dirty? sounded pretty clean to me.

  • @masterownedu haha he probably meant dirty in a good way, not as in not clean.

  • @cskonberg1987 haha okay.

  • @masterownedu he meant dirty in a good way. Kind of like "sick" or "nasty" its a compliment

  • Very awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sick cadence... oh and bless you at 4:44 lol

  • this is what you get when tom aungst the caption head at a college

  • @Promark25 you mean thom hannum?

  • YAY! My absolute favorite cadence! :)

  • i think theres more views of this video than the attendance at that game! lol

  • Idk about the best cadence ever, But it's sooo damn CLEAN! haha. especially considering size.

  • Idk about the best cadence ever, But it's sooo damn CLEAN! haha especially considering size.

  • nothing like a good 5 minute drum cadence to go to sleep to :) you guys are awesome, seriously.

  • love this video =]!!!

  • love this video =]

  • doesn't 1:09-1:24 sound exactly like SCV's electric wheelchair?

  • @slitherzpin most rock beats sound something like that, you kinda have to write a rockbeat like that, or else it wouldnt be one

  • omg awesome thank you UMASS DRUMLINE FOR THE WIN

  • MORE COW BELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • did the guy splitting center march crown!? i swear he did.

  • @griffinthe yup, a lot of guys from crown and cadets

  • Is the UMass drumline simply the best in the country? Maybe I'm biased, and maybe some of the big schools drumlines - Texas or Michigan, for example - will disagree, but I haven't seen anyone top this group. Go UMass!

  • @littlefield19 HA! Dude, you HAVE to check out these two drumlines: University of Kentucky (I'm from Kentucky, but live near UMass now) and Morehead State University (also in Kentucky). Now ... at the high school level, some of the nation's strongest marching band programs are in Kentucky / Ohio / Tennessee.

  • @tmwhalens I WILL check those out! Last November, I had the pleasure of going to the BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis, and you are right, there were some totally awesome bands from KY and OH and TN. Indiana too. Here's a thought (for anyone) - which state has the strongest overall marching band culture? Certainly not Massachusetts! We can't even pay our teachers. KY? IN? FL? CA? TEXAS, anyone? (Are you listening, Woodlands and LD Bell?)

  • Dam! that soooo hot i love the base line!!! =D

  • One awesome cadence! Elements of some classics all woven together into a unique cadence that is UMass! Timeless!

  • dope. this kind of stuff actually makes me sorta miss going out on the field..

  • I remember taking private lessons with Nick back in the day and the fight where Nick knocked Steve down and messed up Steves knee...I want to say that was crica 93.

The tour jackets these guys were sporting, Star, Cadets, SCV, Crossmen etc...so much talent in the line and among the staff.

  • Damn! Gave me goosebumps!!!!Machine like perfection!!! I could not find one mistake or anyone out of time! Well done! 10+++++

  • I honestly almost cried watching this. Dude, totally the cleanest drumline sound, and technique on the planet.

  • @Crzydrtbkr1 Debatable.

  • thats a huge drumline

  • I was the section leader of the drumline in 1991, and I wrote the cadence that year. Some of those beats are in here! Every year they add new stuff, while retaining some of the vintage stuff. I'm 39 now, so I guess that makes ME vintage! ;)

  • UMASS Drumline/band was the best thing about going to UMASS football games.

I remember people used to go pee and stuff before the half and the place being packed for half-time (as well as for the post-game).

  • @cadetsnare I remember standing in front of the line back in the early-mid 90's recording stuff on cassette tape. I know I just about wore a hole in my neverland cd, specificly the track with the 94 cadence. I love that there is a certain amount of tradition and nice mix of the identity of the cats playing the cadence from year to year. The face of the beats change with the faces in the line...but some things will always be the same...good stuff.

  • damn this is hard ass cadance

  • im in love with this cadence

  • of course u r man cumon it's Umass people that hate the college can't hate this

  • Aye jMan, the stones themselves wish to march. How they got so excellent so early in a season is a wonder to me.

  • they practice all summer long, i know becuz a buddy of mine practiced with them, although he didnt make it into the d-line he is in the pit at UMASS

  • ahhh sooo good

  • 3:36 - 3:52 = NICE...

  • I Totally agree!!

  • OMFG that was the best Cadance I have ever hurd

  • @windrider1127 You don't watch drum corps very much do you...?

  • @windrider1127 Learn to spell

  • Nice Groove!!!

    I Like this Cadence.

  • Whats up with the dude @ 4:12 celebrating that dirty snare lick?

  • hes the guy that teaches the drumline their music and they must usually have trouble with it so he celebrated when they nailed it

  • @jMan9244 GABE!

  • who wrote this new version? bartleby and lino?

  • I think all the seniors had a part in it

  • yes, I think it was.

btw, that was a sweet gate at the first rock beat.

  • Is that Gabe sticking his face in there?
