  • Dammit. I'm too young to have had those masterpieces in my childhood yet I still feel nostalgic and sad. How is that even possible?

  • Andy Nyman is great, i've met him a couple times. Very funny dude :)

  • the puppet's ear fell off o.O

  • "I'm the image and lightness of God, I am, I am" RFLOL... You can use that puppet to sell almost anything...

  • the music in the background makes this so scary.

  • If only this was a live audience broadcast, it deserves a massive applause.

  • "Watch me as I exorcise my misbegotten soul from this unworthy vessel, and use it to make the corpse of a bear sing the song that shall end the world!"

  • Anyone who thinks Charlie is witless and Peurile needs to watch the end of this episode.

  • @451harri The only people who think that he is are witless and puerile themselves.

  • that christian puppet show reminds me of a creepypasta

  • Sitting up at 2am watching this trying not to wake up my family upstairs.

  • @megmo1571 From laughing*

  • 3:26 the puppet sounds so threatening ...

  • The difference in sound between Bagpuss etc, and anything from the mid-late 80s onwards, really is very noticeable. A lot of children's TV from about He-Man on has lots of rapid chattering and noisy music, and even when they talk it's meaningless tripe or heavy-handed, moralising claptrap.

Bagpuss and Trumpton/Camberwick Green were serene and quiet. Even the original Postman Pat was quiet. The opening of the Clangers shows kids telly doesn't need to be endless gibbering and silly fart noises.

  • whats the song in the background of 6:03

  • bad trip material!

  • The Junior Christian Science Bible Lesson really IS like a nightmare, it is like having a horrible hallucination brought on by a high fever when you were 7 years old.

  • RIP Oliver Postgate

What was the music playing during the second half of the video? I feel as though I've heard it before.

  • Great tribute to Oliver Postgate, but does anyone happen to know the very sombre music playing throughout the piece? I'll love to know. Respond or message me. Thanks :)

  • visit the La Brea Tar Pits. for $3, David Liebe Hart will draw your caricature. He did mine 2 weeks ago. Surprisingly cute.

  • Oliver Postgate was peerless.

What a CV, eh? Ivor The Engine, The Clangers AND Bagpuss(amongst others). To have created ONE of those would've made him a legend.

    He gave us all three.

    He was The King.

  • That guy is REAL? I thought he was a guy doing a character Tim & Eric made up...

  • That's just as creepy as that Rabbit in Lederhosen in that Tomorrow's Pioneers

  • I got about three minutes into this segments and then my brain snapped!

  • Great tribute Charlie.

  • @disastertruck how could anyone speak ill of bagpuss? mind=blown.

  • @epicterror Bagpuss is the emperor of all cats everywhere.

  • excellent use of the Halloween theme tune lol :D

That Christian special was a travesty...horrifying...

  • RIP Oliver Postgate.

  • what has god done to these fucking idiots

  • Oliver Postgate was a legend. I adore Bagpuss. One of my favourite gifts ever was a Bagpuss that when you squeezed it you heard the yawning sound. A true hero of childrens T.V. R.I.P.

  • IF I HAD had a panda tell me not to do drugs it all aould have been a different tale

  • He was awesome in Campus

  • the end of this its very heart breaking im usually a cunt and a bastard most of the time but when i watched this it made me think of my child hood and left in near tears

  • the end of this hear breaking very much

  • David Liebe Hart can be found on Adult Swim's Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job!

  • o_0.......

    wtf did i just watch.........

  • The most striking part is at the end with Bagpuss' signature yawn as he drifts to sleep, almost representative of Oliver Postgate who is resting after giving so much to the world of television and children themselves. RIP.

  • me traumatized

  • That segment on Oliver Postgate is just wonderful.

  • I love Charlie Brooker more than I can describe with words here. I wish that more presenters/journalists had his flare, wit and humility.

  • I was watching this in a university computer lab, couldn't contain the laughter

  • I think what is most sad is that if anyone ever came up with a programme as lovely and original as anything Oliver Postgate made, it would never get commissioned.

  • @MrTrungo ofcourse not, today's tv wants to drown their timeslots with the the mummified piss that is Lazy Town, because to them parents will be happy as they force their kids to watch to learn about "excercise" and won't have to put any effort into raising their kids (thus the toilet that soceity has become). I'm to young for Bagpuss but i grew up with the origial Thomas the Tank Engine and Rosey and Jim, which were truly kids shows, and not that arse of colors, in the fucking night garden.

  • Oh my God this is the best part from any Screenwipe I've ever seen. Ever. The first part was the funniest, the second part was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. Also, I think I detected the use of music by Stars of the Lid in the part about mr. Postgate. That automatically makes this one of the best things ever seen on television. I had me in reverential awe.

  • @duffeknol Agreed, and thank you for the tip about the music, I've been wondering what it is for ages, because it's awesome.

  • the first half of this segment had me pissing myself with laughter, then the second half had me screwing up my face trying desperately hard not to burst into undignified tears. jesus, charlie
