I was a young buck when this came out... and yeah it was a wierd, disturbing scene... but still... back then... weird scene or not... Elizabeth Peña in a garterbelt, stockings and heels was enough to "get me there"... easily. Just sayin'.
@wbbelcher It just occured to me I spelled weird correctly and incorrectly in the same post. Oops. I guess while I am here I might as well point out that Elizabeth's brief appearance in the Jeff Golblum/Cindi Lauper film "Vibes" was pretty good too for the exact same reason (meaning of course the hot lingerie, not the hallucinatory demonic impalement).
Can someone please help me with a piece of music form this movie? It is featured in the end credits, and during that brief fight scene between the marines in a flashback. It's an ambient, panflute and sitar tune with women vioces over it. It's haunting me for quite a time now, but I just don't find it. And it's "not" HEARING SOLAR WINDS 3.
Really FRIGHTENING SCENE!!! I think what makes this movie so scary is that the monsters and demons Jacob keeps seeing look so realistic. The one guy shaking his head sort of just looks like someone on some really fucked up drug! Adrian Lynne did a brilliant job of making the demons in the film look a little too real!

theres something kinda spooky in a primal/proto evil sort of way about james brown's music. can help but get the feeling of being in a cramped, hot, sweaty lounge type place where everyone is fucked up out of their minds what his music playing in the background.
Oh okay. I wouldn't call this classic yet though, I mean it's only from 1990, 21 years ago. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 or Psycho 1960 are classic. This film's greeat too, just not really that old yet to be classic.
Modern classic is fine yeah, the film just isn't classic in the same respect as Psycho (1960). I consider video games from the late 1990s to be classic as well, but I think it depends on what the media is. Video games haven't been around long, so the earliest games would be classic. But horror films have been around longer so I think it stretches the word classic to different eras. No one is in the wrong (?) for calling films classic, it just depends.
Lol no it's okay you were right this film is a modern classic. And I admire you too for not flipping out either, because believe me, I get it a lot as I'm sure you do too :)
Ah thanks. Because I know this song is from 1974 so I assumed it was from that era. I originally thought it was set in 1990 like the film but it's not.
@Gaznugget I know... thats where HE thinks it takes place. But this is all in his mind. It's a hallucination. Like the scene when he has the fever and is burning up, its caused by his wound getting infected.
@marvelmax03191 I know... thats where HE thinks it takes place. But this is all in his mind. It's a hallucination. Like the scene when he has the fever and is burning up, its caused by his wound getting infected.
@Phantasmedia I named a character in a story I wrote Jacob because of this movie. I was so sad that when I let someone read it they thought I had gotten it from Twilight.
Those hallucination look interesting. Some are probably reflection of Jacob's traumatic experience in Nam. Like the spinning head guy. Notice he has what looks like the black bag over his head. He could be some sort of POW form Nam. The helicopter sound a probably a reflection too.
When I first saw this movie years ago, I was too drunk in the theater to realize she was getting fucked on the dance floor. I was too drunk to realize what the movie was about. LOL
Well yes, and no, because although they have clearly edited the original song, all they have done is repeat a certain part of the song. The song plays just like the original, up until after her bum is scratched at 2:28, and at that point all it does is repeat the song from 0:51again.
I wonder if this scene has anything to do with the Reptilian Agenda that David Icke is known of exposing. For those who aren't aware, a certain species of reptilian beings are sexually compatible with humans. I bet the producer of this film is well versed in this matter. Very interesting scene nonetheless. Lust is a pretty powerful force to contend with and extremely alluring to the unsuspecting. Gotta love and hate it to be quite honest.
@Gaznugget social needs, you ask? Sorry can't help you out, though I'd like to know how I can find the woman in this scene for my, erm, social needs :)))
Seriously I've paused so many times at 2:19 and I can't see any fur. Are you sure it's not just her dress, cause it does look a little like a thin fur I suppose.
Yeah she does look hot here. Why did you say it the way you did? I mean are you used to seeing her the way she looks now and it was a suprise for you to see her here so young and hot?
Hey, I've just thought, who in the hell lifted up her skirt to show her leg?! If you look closely it doesn't look like like her at all, or the man/demon that's doing it to her. Such an awkward second, I still can't see who it is. Could someone try to clear it up for me please.

@energyman2289 - He was hallucinating as a matter of fact. And she didn't turn into anything. Symbolically, she was having sex with the devil, and when it orgasmed, the thing came out of her mouth. Hi, is Elizabeth the woman in this scene who gets impaled, or is she another actress from this film. Just wondering is all. And another thing, (to everyone else too) has the music (My Thang by James Brown) been edited for this specific scene. I've listened to it and it sounds different somehow to this.
carbonsnail@TheShaper144: I never saw this movie and was wondering what was the point of this scene. I was just watching it because I though Liz Pena was a pretty lady back in the day. Wish that there was more stuff on the net about her. Should I rent this movie was it any good? Thanks.
Hi yes it is a good film it's from 1990 which makes it even better. The point of this scene is to make us wonder what is happening to Jacob, because he is seeing some freaky things.
PS is your name carbonsnail because you care about the environment and want to reduce carbon emissions. If so, respect to you.
carbonsnail@Gaznugget : Thanks for your response about the movie I think that I will rent it soon. PS. I have the name carbonsnail because im a cyclist with a $4000.00 bike who rides about 160 mile a week. Im still still very slow although my bike is very nice im working at it daily though.
Good for you, we need ALOT more people with the same mindset as you. People are so stupid today, like sheep, all in one big herd on the motorway, LITERALLY throwing the lives of the future generations away.
love this scene its absolutely golden. gotta love James Brown's 'My Thang' off the album 'Hell' which, much like Jacobs Ladder is about hell on earth.

9-23-2009. Ain't it great? Elizabeth Pena's 48. Happy Birthday, Elizabeth.

Hi, is Elizabeth the woman in this scene who gets impaled, or is she another actress from this film. Just wondering is all. And another thing, (to everyone else too) has the music (My Thang by James Brown) been edited for this specific scene. I've listened to it and it sounds different somehow to this.

So basically in this scene, this girl gets fucked so hard by some tentacle that it comes through her body and up out her mouth?
What a way to go.

carbonsnail@TheShaper144: I never saw this movie and was wondering what was the point of this scene. I was just watching it because I though Liz Pena was a pretty lady back in the day. Wish that there was more stuff on the net about her. Should I rent this movie was it any good? Thanks.

@carbonsnail

The guy behind her is Elizabeth's best friend - she didn't trust anyone else to do what he does in the scene.

love this scene its absolutely golden. gotta love James Brown's 'My Thang' off the album 'Hell' which, much like Jacobs Ladder is about hell on earth.
