Hi - thanks for nice vid. How does the pizza bottom turn out using a pan? You didn't show us. Also, how would this work if using charcoal bbq, not gas?
flippin genioussss, the only thing i wud add on is, the last minute or two of cooking i would throw the pizza straight on the grill, for that grilled crispiness :)
Thanks for the video. Our electricity went out while having friends over and had take-n-bake pizza to cook. Fortunately the generator runs the satellite internet, so I could find this video and still have dinner! Of course, as soon as the first pizza went on the grill the power came back on! LOL Still cooked both on the grill and they turned out GREAT. Will definitely use this method again...made for a nice crispy - but not burned - crust on the bottom.
Made pizza on the patio last night using this method and it was AWESOME! Thanks for sharing your technique! I posted about it and pictures on my blog
so..........without the charcoaled bbq flave.....why not just put it in an oven? would taste the exact same! I do mines right on the grill racks toasting the dough both sides then adding my stuff and moving it over to the cooler side to bake. USING CHARCOALS!!!!
@ljalaska 100% true - grilling over charcoal is what gives it that great grilled flavor that gas just can't match. For added flavor, grill your toppings over charcoal before they go on the pizza. I cook boneless skinless chicken breasts on the grill first, then I grill chunks of bell pepper, onion, pineapple, etc. in a grilling skillet (it's got holes in it) before building the pizza. This makes the flavor of the pizza incredibly intense and delicious.
mate been doing this for a month or so .awesome.thanks for the vid.cant think why id ever buy another pizza.oh, unless im staggering home from the pub, after a big day on the punt.other than that i cant think why i would
Fantastic pizza! I love your 3 can method of making pizza. You solved the age old problem of how to grill pizza without letting your crust burn. Excellent. You are funny and you make pizza from the heart with passion.
I grill pizza but use a slightly differnet method. I cannot argue with your results. Thanks for the video.
I have a holland grill which as you may know runs mainly on convection rather then direct heat. Do I still need to raise the pizza tray on cans or can i set it directly on the grill. God it's cold in here in MN...cant wait for grilling season!
Bloody legend, im only 17 and this sort of thing is what makes me want to cook infact im using your ideas for lamb racks tomorrow for a barbie with my mates so thanks in advance :D if im ever in W.A ill definatly be droping into school
What a fabulous...and practical tip for grilling pizza. My hubby and I love to try grilling just about anything....so hope you do more creative grilling and share more tips soon.

Thanks Chris for the tip on how to make the perfect pizza on a grill. Ours came out perfecta. Our area in the States includes many mom and pop "Italian Style" pizza shops that serve up perhaps the best pizza anywhere. I'd put your recipe in that category.

I wonder why no one place the pizza directly on the grill. I notice people only either put brick or extra layer. is there a reason?
