I played Max Payne, the original one, I never played Max Payne 2.

Personally I think this game might be good. Though I hope it isn't just another, get in cover, shoot, get in cover, shoot, etc.

This is like the Death Wish series... the first was great! A classic. The second, kind of the same formula. The third, ULTRA violent and over the top, but still classic Max as we know him. I'll expect if 4 and 5 come out we have an older Max thrust back into killing somehow. If this isn't the last, then the final Max Payne should have him as a badass in his 60s.
