you can get it twice, get the gold scale as a kid, then go get the silver scale. come back to fish and catch another 10 pound fish, do the same as you did the first time. gold scale.... again

@MrAndrewJSimmons go into the house near the lake and jump into the pond like thing in her house and dive to the bottom (with golden scale only) then talk to her and she gives you a heart peice for being able to dive to the bottom you may be able to do this with the iron boots instead im not sure but that should replace your missing heart peice(:

Go to the pond as Adult Link, catch any fish over 15 lbs I believe, and he gives you the Gold Scale. Dive to the bottom of Lakeside Lab and the creepy guy gives you a piece of heart too.

The way I did it was getting a 7 pound fish the first time and doing this to get the Golden Scale. After you do that you can go back and get a 10 pounder to get the heart piece. I didn't really know if it was possible but I went ahead and started a new game to test. It works =)

Actually You can get the Heart Piece before the Golden Scale. Just caught the 10 pounds fish and obtain the Heart Piece. Then exit and re-enter the pond, pay for play again. Make sure to save because it can take a long time before you can get it. After some tries you may caught the 11 pounds fish, just do the glitch and you get both the Heart Piece and the Golden Scale.

@GBlackPeak You actually can catch a 10 pound fish for the heart piece. Go out, wait a day, come back in and catch another ten pound do the glitch (hold Z+R, then talk to him) and you get the Gold Scale. Just did this a second ago!

its aim lock and shield that is held but be sure to not have it locked on a fish and to be in the water when u do it and keep it held till u have the scale also u have to have the wood shield as well so u are able to walk when it is done

You don't get the heartpeace from the pond.

After you get the gold scale, go to the lakeside labratory or whatever it's called and dive to the bottom of the pool. Then talk to the old dude and he'll give it to you!

You get a Gold Scale instead of a Heart piece, so yeah... there's no other way of getting it back, unless if you restart the game -_-

actually, if you just catch a fish like 9 pounds to get the heart piece, THEN get something around 10 pounds to make the record bigger, the cheat still works, and you get both the heart piece and the scale

Note: It can only be caught as an adult!

Once you've cought the biggest fish in the pond, then exit the fishing place. Then come back in the morning after the rooster crows. I suggest equiping the Iron Boots to more easily find it. It will look like an eel and won't move much. It rarely bites even with the sinking lure and all you get for catching it is a damn purple rupee. Not worth it at all but it feels good to catch it. :D

You don't need to catch any fish to make the loach appear, it appears since you start the game and you can also catch it like young Link.

I don't believe you can catch it as Young Link. There is no Hylian Loach in the water pool when Link is a kid. If what your saying is true, give me the link to a video of a person cathing the Hylian Loach as Young Link.
