nowt wrong with his voice what ya all on about, i saw them live at least 10 times from 80 -85 and his voice hasnt changed.you have to remember that on recording voices always sound better/stronger and live there is always a difference. the tone and quality is still there, no change at all

It's almost as if the smoking on stage is just part of the act. Notice how often he's smoking on stage during recent (past decade) gigs. If he smoked that much all the time he would of died from nicotine posioning by now. As for the voice, it's kinda sounded like that since the electrafixion days.

kirkwallboy - don't forget the voice, the singer who also writes the lyrics. I don't agree that Sergeant has the skill i.e. the chord depth as S.C.N or the great Neil Young, I will say that his timing is melodic and tight.

Will Sergeant is up there with Crosby Stills Nash and Young. He is the reason Echo and the Bunnymen exist. Along with his pouting pal. Who, as it happens, is maybe one of the most original singers ever. Who seems to sing better the older he gets.

chrisperrons- no, don't think he's losing range at all-saw 1 live show 'bout tear & 1/2 ago where his voice did sound kinda'a more ravaged (concerned me some - still sounded great though)-but,saw them again like 6 months later & his voice,range sounded as great as ever- was amazed actually)-think he may occasionally smoke few too many marlboros - D.
