I take a different route, the Bible clearly commands us in many places NOT TO SIN and yet, those who truly learn that it's possible not to sin are also the ones who have true grace for the ones who do sin, like Jesus had for the worst of sinners. This is not about sin as much as it is about a person flagrantly defying the word of God and flaunting his rebellion in the face of his people. Paul's sin's were before his knowledge of Christ. There's a difference and it's one which can be sensed. I'm neither here nor there about TB really, I'm just terribly concerned that, in an overzealous effort to protect the truth, we often relent to the temptation to condemn rather than rebuke. I suppose my gut reaction is that the compromising of Biblical principles is bad because it causes pain and hurt (that's my view). A strong link needs to be made between the breaking of these principles and the pain and hurt resulting, otherwise it just looks like a theological tustle.

In the old testament there were watchers on the wall, if they failed to sound the alarm of enemy attack the blood of the slain would be on their hands. We all have a purpose in the body of Christ. Some are evangelists some are teachers etc. I stand on the wall, to watch and warn that is my ministry.

I do believe it's possible for someone to have that degree of certainty, but I think it takes an incredible amount of maturity to be able to make a judgement like that over others. I'd only make those judgements over others in fear and trembling, it is NOT obvious when false prophets set about their work, it is subtle and hard. Takes a LOT of certainty to judge them.

@zoostupormundi This is just a play on words. In one sense yeah you can repent perfectly (e.g. giving up smoking, you can COMPLETELY stop smoking) but then I 'repent' from the old and embrace the new, but do I do that perfectly? No, so in that sense my repentance is incomplete and imperfect.

I've read so many comments saying things like "The Lord revealed to me that Todd is a false prophet" or "The spirit showed me that he is a fake and this is the end" -Frankly, it makes me sick. It makes me wonder if you know the heart of Jesus, honestly. Jesus was all about redemption and healing... not judgment wrath and slander. I say check your own heart and ask God to teach you what Love is.
klayman, he said HE DID HIS RESEARCH. It doesn't take any great super-spiritual, mystical, experience to learn whether Todd's actions and teachings are Godly. It takes plain, simple, boring, systematic research. That kind of thing is boring to Mr Bentley's followers & they are only interested in shiny things that are fun. To them, that's where the "Spirit of God" is.
Oh yeah, and what do you say to people who say "The Lord showed me that He loves Todd and wants to see him fully restored" That sounds like the heart of God to me... but it doesn't line up with your words.
Jesus is also the one true God of AUTHORITY and perfection. His standards are not our own standards. And his ways are not our ways. Read Titus Chapter 1. Read 1Timothy chapter 3. Tell me if Todd Bentley lived up to God's standards. Maybe then you'll change your tune

Why rail against the Word of God? These are two confused men in this video. One of them got way too full of himself (pride) and became anti-God in his sin. Joyner where do you get your statisic that over half the Church committed adultery with the young lady who babysitted their kids then divorce their wife and remarry the woman they committed adultery with. What happen to the first incident that Pastor Johnson spoke of.
You know what I think there is something that we can all learn from this video that I got from it. First off I dont agree with any of there doctrines. But Todd said something, he said the pain in his heart from being seperated from his kids because of his sin. A good lesson. As a Christian who's been apart of a local church, been on the worship team for over 4 years, gone to the conferences, gone to the youth camps, I cannot understand how people are trying to make this black and white issue 'color'. Todd had an affair, divorced his wife, and married the younger ex-intern from his church. There was no biblical grounds for the divorce and remarriage. Simple. 2 Corinthians 11:3
You can think whatever you like about me. I spent 10 years in a false ministry almost identical to Todd Bentley's. And the church is a sister church of Bill Johnson's. One of the men defending TB. This past winter the Lord has opened my eyes to Truth thru the Word. And Lord has laid on my heart His burden for those who have fallen away into doctrines of devils. Jesus doesn't need me to do jack shit. I planted a seed of truth via the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit will water it.

Above reproach? His fall from ministry tells the world Todd B is NOT above reproach. One wife? He cheated on his. Temperate? He is violent and loud. There are videos proving this. Self-controlled? He could not control his lust, or desire to drink. Drunkeness? He gave sermons intoxicated. Not quarrelsome? He caused division in his own home. Lover of money? Let's not even go there.
You will be judged for surrounding yourself with false teachers if you know that Christ is the world's saviour. It is YOUR responsibility to know the real Jesus. And the real Jesus is in the Word.
If you claim to be a lover of Christ/Father/Holy Spirit then you WILL love His Word. And know it inside and out - that is the #1 way we LISTEN to God. The Bible IS His Words. His speech. His teachings. FIND OUT WHAT HE HAS TO SAY !!!! And if you need extra-biblical EXPERIENCES for you to "know" Jesus then you don't really want to get to know Him at all.
I cannot even begin to express how deeply and utterly relieved I am to have come across these videos. The vitriol and hate and violence that was circulating on the internet, by 'Christians', re: Todd/Lakeland, last Autumn was breathtaking and utterly soul-destroying. I visited Lakeland in June 2008 and that trip is still bearing life-changing fruit. Thank you Lord for this confirmation. Words cannot express my relief to come across such a postive news. I saw a lot of Christians trying to expose Todds works of darkness while appealing to Christians to turn back to Scripture rather than the biker booting, slapping kicking violent 'jesus' that Todd was proclaiming. I didnt see that as utterly soul destroying. Perhaps Todd attacking the whole Christain church was a little upsetting though.

TB isn't one of my brothers, Paul said to have nothing to do with the workers of darness but rather expose them. TB has never known Christ! If he had he wouldn't be willing to drag his name through the mud and flaunt his harlet in front of people...especialy a "church". If you love God... you love his word. I take a different route, the Bible clearly commands us in many places NOT TO SIN and yet, those who truly learn that it's possible not to sin are also the ones who have true grace for the ones who do sin, like Jesus had for the worst of sinners. Paul was a worse sinner than Todd.

This is not about sin as much as it is about a person flagrantly defying the word of God and flaunting his rebellion in the face of his people. Paul's sin's were before his knowledge of Christ. TB's sin's are after.. supposedly knowing Gods truth. He started off fairly normal and became worse with time. What's it going to take for people to see the truth?

I suppose my gut reaction is that the compromising of Biblical principles is bad because it causes pain and hurt (that's my view). A strong link needs to be made between the breaking of these principles and the pain and hurt resulting, otherwise it just looks like a theological tustle.

I talk to these people and the majority have a false hope of what they believe will save them. Whether Catholicism or any other "ism" I point them to the word of God. I can't tell you how sad I get when I go to pray for someone and they say "oh it's ok the priest already gave me my rights". So many are missing the simple Gospel of Jesus Christ!

I do believe it's possible for someone to have that degree of certainty, but I think it takes an incredible amount of maturity to be able to make a judgement like that over others. I'd only make those judgements over others in fear and trembling, it is NOT obvious when false prophets set about their work, it is subtle and hard. Takes a LOT of certainty to judge them.

If one makes the wrong choice, we don't just give him a pat on the back, shrug our shoulders and let him continue on. I wouldn't use them in the same breath. I am not judging Todd the word of God is, Paul made it very clear what the qualifications for leadership in the Church are. The vitriol and hate and violence that was circulating on the internet, by 'Christians', re: Todd/Lakeland, last Autumn was breathtaking and utterly soul-destroying. I saw a lot of Christians trying to expose Todds works of darkness while appealing to Christians to turn back to Scripture rather than the biker booting, slapping kicking violent 'jesus' that Todd was proclaiming. I didnt see that as utterly soul destroying. Perhaps Todd attacking the whole Christain church was a little upsetting though.
