@rml695 I dont think T-Mobile USA will be getting the iPhone because T-Mobile's 3G does not work for the iPhone. T-Mobile USA uses both AWS 1700/2100Mhz at the same time. 2100Mhz is supported but not 1700Mhz and it needs both frequencies to run 3G
@rml695 I doubt it Im currently using my iPhone 4 on T-Mobile I get only Edge maybe the iPhone will come to T-Mobile USA next then Verizon its already GSM and Apple already supports T-Mobile in Europe like in Germany and the UK however
T-Mobile USA may need to do some adjustments so that the 2100Mhz frequency targets the iPhone only and not the 1700Mhz
heres what i think, verizon will release LTE this year, at&t's exclusivity to the iphone will expire verizon buys iphone exclusivity, iphone runs on LTE which verizon will provide, about 60 - 70 of iphone users on at&t switch to verizon, at&t losses lots of money, at&t stocks plummit, verizon see's opertunity buys at&t's wireless network' gets all their band with and verizon wins
My brand new verizon phone has a sim card. which i put in my nokia 8110 wich runs of a gsm... no signal though because at&t is not in my state. AND i can turn on gsm on my verizon phone.

AT&T claims to have more bars in more places, but Verizon has the largest 3G network in the nation. If you want shittier service, get Alltel. Alltel is Verizon's less exensive company. AT&T and VERIZON are probably about equally as good. both as expensive. I've had both. Verizon gets better coverage.=)

In non-geek speak, what that means is the device will ONLY work on AT&T & T-Mobile, because they use a SIM card (again, my video CDMA vs GSM will explain in more detail). Verizon & Sprint don't use SIM cards. If anyone says "yes Verizon does", what they don't realize is those phones are EU only. IN other words, their "world phones" are meant for global roaming through Vodafhone EU.
@wiimanking Absoultely NOT!!! If you were to get the phone unlocked, DONT RECOMMEND, it would work on many other GSM companies, but with most companies will not be albe to provide you internet service which leaves you with using the wifi, a feature that comes on the phone.
Verizon's LTE network will not be FULLY alive until 2017.
Plus the AT&T contract does not end until Jan 1, 2010.
As you said, Verizon has a long process of testing phones. And AT&T will fight for the contract to last because AT&T was about to go bankrupt UNTIL Apple gave them this iPhone. AT&T then had 87% growth.

In all due respect, you are wrong. AT&T has a contract with the iPhone, so if Apple makes a new device with a different name, it has nothing to do with AT&T's contract, therefore it can be signed with Verizon.
I went to Verizon to get a env touch but the clerk told me that there will be an iPhone on Verizon in the beginning of November. He said it will not be called an iPhone because AT&T owns that name but it will be the same product.

Data is $30 a month. I am in the outskirts of Dallas/Ft. Worth. And I will say this: 3G sucks compared to Verizons EVDO network. Where ever it is it is very spotty and very sluggish especially if you are using an aircard.
No, you can surf over AT&Ts data network wether it be EDGE or 3G. In my city I sometimes even fall back to GPRS which is even worse than EDGE. However if you are for instance at home and have highspeed and a wireless router I would suggest using the wifi as your surfing speeds are going to be MUCH faster comapred to even the best 3G connection.

Until Verizon's GSM-LTE transition is fully complete, which is said to take five years (to be completed by 2014), I won't feel comfortable with the possibility of zero coverage in my vacation home (which, if it's part LTE and part CDMA, may happen). I'd feel better going with the more mature GSM standard for the next few years until Verizon's transition is complete. By this time the iPhone will be unlocked, and AT&T could unlock it, so I could take it to Verizon, hopefully without issues.
Iphone is okay but I still prefer any good android phone :) just my 2 cents
