I bought "The Many faces of LZ" yesterday.. (covers) It consists of 3 discs: One from Dread Zeppelin , another one from Great White and the lst one are all Led Zepp's songs remixes.. When I put Great White's (live) and I pressed play, I thought it was a mistake because of how much RUssel sounded like Robert Plant.

One of the best live rock bands I have seen (and I've seen them many times). It is generally agreed they got lumped in with hair metal but they had a lot more substance, roots, blues and outstanding songwriting. They still do - they put out great albums in last couple of years that unfortuately haven't gotten nearly enough publicity as they should.

Great singer for 15! West Covina, Ca. rich boy. He called me up, (well his band did), after hearing me play drums in my band, and wanted me to play in theirs. He was so freakin wasted, he couldn't even talk on the phone! Knocking stuff over, etc! I thought, "I'll just stay in my band"! lol GREAT JOB!
This really IS a great cover! But it remains a cover and you hear that. When I hear this song played by Zeppelin I really believe they feel what they play and sing....this is just copying the same performance. They do it really good, but this certain feeling doesn't come to me.

That was awesome. See if corporate money bag rock radio would have played this on the radio back in 88, I might have actually followed these guys. Maybe bought a cd or went to one of their concerts, but instead I lumped them in with all the other crap that was on the FM in those days....Sorry Great White.

Zep sounded DIFFERENT in concerts. Sometimes it was amazing, sometimes it was bad, but they never copied the studio versions.

OK, enough with my struggle. I never purported that G.W. was a better band than L.Z. I simply said that G.W. sounds more like the studio recoding of L.Z. than L.Z. does when in live concert. That cannot be disputed. So, I guess they are a good "cover band". I saw L.Z. in Philly in the '70's when John B had a bottle thrown into his head. Why? Because they suck live. That is all. G.W. doing L.Z live is far better than L.Z. doing L. Z. live. If not, start a new thread with poof. Rock On!.

No doubt, LZ is better than GW. But what I am saying is LIVE...I saw them in the Spectrum in Philly in the70's. I was amazed at how bad Robert Plant sounded. Still, I loved him. But you see this version from GW and they sound just like the studio LZ. That is my point.

No, I can say what I said because I HEARD Plant live. He simply sucked (unless I wanted to have x with him). I am a person who likes to have a band sound SOMEWHAT like thte recording. I am not some stoned out nut who just jams to nonsense. Plant sucks, Frank Sinatria rules.

You just said it ASSHOLE. In the DVD, which is studio enhanced. Look ASS, I have a life. I saw Van Halen do Panama live when the were shooting the video. After the concert, I then witnessed the final production on MTV and it was 10 times better sound quality than what I heard live. Don't give my no damn commercial DVD excuse. Listen to bootleg shit. The stones (who I love) suck live. I've seen them and accept it. Why not stop pretending your damn ears don't hear what they hear. Fuck off.

I don't know what any of these two bands sound like live. I love Zepplin and Great White. I have to say this is the second best version of this song, the original first then this. This is the first time hearing a band that could pull off a Zepplin song. This version kicks ass!!!

JACK! I am thouroughly impressed with these vocals. Didn't know you had it in you! I remember when a 15 year old Jack tried out for the band I was in. He was in a band called Evolution at the time. Great singer for 15! West Covina, Ca. rich boy. He called me up, (well his band did), after hearing me play drums in my band, and wanted me to play in theirs. He was so freakin wasted, he couldn't even talk on the phone! Knocking stuff over, etc! I thought, "I'll just stay in my band"! lol GREAT JOB!

This really IS a great cover! But it remains a cover and you hear that. When I hear this song played by Zeppelin I really believe they feel what they play and sing....this is just copying the same performance. They do it really good, but this certain feeling doesn't come to me.

Oh, and the singing is pretty damn good too! It has hints of a studio version and live. And he hits the notes. So people should not bug the singing :). Of course, if you disagree, your opinion matters. All around a solid cover.

Hats off to Jack and the boys. There is obviously no equal to the almighty Zeppelin. However, if imitation is indeed the most sincerest form of flattery, these guys have NAILED IT! I must say that was outstanding! It was pretty close! However, it'd be better if its slowed down a bit. Maybe its jsut me but it was abit rushed. But neverless, amazing cover. It captures the feel of the original song or close to it
