Thank heaven for a mom who saw his potential and the teacher who taught him flamenco guitar. Jesse uses his music like a bridge between cultures and rhythms and it's universal--like a small or a kindness. Rumba has a great rhythm--every track.
I wonder if he remembers shooting the video for "Fragile". My sister and I were really little and my Dad worked at EMI as a computer tech guy. One day he asked us if we want to be in a music video! I haven't seen the video in forever, but the scene with me and my sister is us holding up a huge photo. Unfortunately only my right hand is in frame, but my sister is right there on camera. :)
Jesse is a true world class artist! I saw him live at Convocation Hall in Toronto and my wife and I were absolutely spellbound! He had percussionists, chinese violinist, and plyed his heart out.
Without question one of the best musical experiences ever!!!
I am very intrigued by you. You keep me inspired by your music and message. Beautiful music that stirs the soul, music is the universal language. I like to say " the eyes are the windows to the soul as music is the language of the soul" If you come anywhere close to Tulsa I need to know! I must see you live!!
I think it's really unfair (and inaccurate) to compare Jesse Cook to Kenny G. The latter makes what sounds to me like elevator music. Jesse Cook's music is sophisticated, soulful and unique. The two have nothing in common.
This is correct. Flamenco music is complex and can be boring for those who don't understand it. But this guy does make great music. I understand the analogy of Kenny G., but Cook is better for Flamenco than Kenny G was to Jazz.
One more point, His music is described as Rumba Flamenco World Beat, so he doesn't really proclaim to be hard core Flamenco. Keep that in mind for those who tend to "bash" his music as being fake Flamenco. His music is predominately Flamenco influenced, but not entirely Flamenco.
