  • 0:13 like a parent telling their child to get over here for an ass whooping when they did something wrong

  • The rule no longer exists

  • that is awesome

  • the curve of the stick can give a pretty big advantage, if someone takes a slapshot from a distance it can give the puck a wobble, and make it harder to save, and when u are stick handling it can make it easier to keep a puck, the rule they got him for is tht a stick can not be less then 2 inches exept for the last 1/2 inch to the toe, and for the curve of the stick it is only from the bottom of the blad, they can have as much curve as they wont on the top

  • thats the first time I've ever heard a ref say a player name while announcing a penalty :S

  • @LeafsJaysRapsFan09 didn't notice the first time but yeah thats weird.

  • jeff hamilton

  • hahahahaha bowen is a riot rofl. gets interupted while telling a story. Thats why the Leafs have the best broadcasting team in the buisness. GO LEAFS GO

  • Good. Every single stick should be measured before being allowed into the game.

How can a sport have any integrity if people are too damn lax on the rules? Most of the time nobody thinks twice about illegal sticks.

  • @cthun934 its not being lax, you going to have someone measure everyones stick prior to a game? espeically when players have 4-5 sticks each? or get new sticks between periods? and a stick doesnt give a insormountable advantage to a player, they still have to have skill to skate and get a shot off, we arent talking steroids

  • @SOLIDSNAKEXXX360

"you going to have someone measure everyones stick prior to a game"

Yes. People look up to athletes - but they don't deserve that if they're cheating.

"and a stick doesnt give a insormountable advantage to a player, "

Why should someone have any illegal advantage?

  • @cthun934 seriously? how big of an advantage can a "illegal" stick give? grow the fuck up please.

  • @AustinBoi50 lol at your butt-hurt. Not happy with hockey's dysfunctional side being called into question, are you?

  • @AustinBoi50 Why do you think the rule is in place, dumbass?

  • theres risk to a stick check. If the stick is proven LEGAL, then the team requesting the check is given a minor penalty for Delay Of Game. I believe they should adopt the lacrosse rule where you get 1 free stick check. In addition, should a Goal be scored, and the scorers stick is shown to be illegal, then the Goal stands.

  • lol

  • 0:33 to 0:40 thats what she said

  • is it a dead fish at the bottom of the stick ?

  • The Sens fans are all bandwagoners anyways.

  • @cheesesteakphilly why would anyone jump on the ottawa bandwagon?

  • typical ottawa game.. there are more cheers than boos when spezza is issued the minor. ottawa doesn't deserve an nhl team. their fans are trailer park morons. move ottawa to atlanta. at least they knew hockey.

  • @07foxmulder They might have known hockey, but they never showed up for any game. Georgia isn't what you would call a hockey hotbed.

  • come on let it go

  • I like how the referee made him out to be a bigger asshole when he announced his name during the penalty assessment, normally its just "penalty to ottawas #19 - 2 minutes for illegal trip" way to go ref!! (go leafs go)

  • I love how he breaks his stick the second he realizes what's happening!

  • McSorley and Roy were caught with illegal sticks in the past.

  • Lol dumb Leafs, coach gets them a powerplay on a cheap but valid call on Spezzas stick, and th Leafs don't capitalize... Wilson deserves a better team.

  • thats why he's garbage now bcuz he doesn't have illegal sticks

  • @Spooie He's garbage? Are you retarded?

  • @vroom1515 he's not that great anymore, but illegal sticks don't make your shot any better unless its a retarded curve but somebody will catch u with that on the faceoff

  • @Spooie He actually is still that great, he was on fire towards the end of the season.

  • Chara should get a 2mins penalty each game for his stick

  • @freydey Chara's stick is still legal but its right at the edge, it's the longest possible sick measurement that can be used in the NHL while still being legal.

  • that curve is fuckin rediculous

  • Comment removed

  • what about ovechkins stick

  • That's a weird looking stick

  • @Quintaxos because he broke it retard

  • Well, I'm sure Spezza will look back on this and laugh...and we all know how that guy laughs ;p

  • Stop right there. Give me that stick.

  • ron wilson draws a penalty

  • Lol

  • this trick players do it in the 80s at the World Championship when someone was loosing the match call referee and reported that he went to sit down it's a good trick on the power play when you need that....haha

  • Is that god damn fuckface Macquire talking, it sounds like him, always looking for it to be somebody elses fault and telling utterly pointless stories...

  • @killerfish345 it's not maguire but this guy is equally as annoying as that bald little prick

  • i own that stick now, for real

  • who fucking cares lol

  • @penguinfantjpresley the only way the leafs can win is to get as many good players off the ice as possible

  • spexxa is a pussy

  • @madsenser yeah he is, Spezza on the other hand is sick

  • They should do this more often, I bet you a ton of players have ilegal sticks

  • why would reebok even make the blade if its illegal

  • @anotherdumbvideo they don't. it's not hard to alter a blade

  • @alerske oh my b

  • @anotherdumbvideo

Reebok never made the stick illegal, Spezza modified a normal stick and made it illegal.

Don't blame reebok, blame Spezza for modifying it.

  • @fox2 can you read? i said my bad already im not apologizing twice asshole

  • @fox2 How do they modify the stick? Do they make the curve different or something because I don't know.

  • Isn't video replay a bitch ahahah! Awesome!!

  • wtf?

  • spezza is a good player but sort of a bastard

  • give that fag the chair lol

  • haha spezza.what a clown. no wonder why hes shit.

  • hahaha spezza cheating little bitch. even with illegal curve he sucks hahahaha!

  • @sukkkmyballs better than u

  • got fucked

  • I don't think it should be a misconduct but it should be a four minute double minor, to discourage the use of illegal sticks more. Because they definitely add an unfair advantage to the player with it

  • lol even Italian WOPs in hockey are gutless as much as those in soccer. Have these people no shame?

  • lol he brakes the stick and grabes a new one so funny xD

  • I think ron wilson is a pretty good coach, except hes trying to make sugar out of shit in toronto

  • how do u check for an illegal stick

  • @sapoe3 Put the puck up against it, if the stick width is more curved than a puck, then it's illegal. That's what I think anyways.

  • Haha man that's hilarious!

  • Several years ago during playoffs, our College (Elmira NY) team questioned the legality of the opponent's (Merchurst College) sticks three times in one game, all three were illegal.

    Fun to watch ;-)

  • LOL.. that was one of the funniest things ever.

  • pwned!

  • thats an ugly curve

  • Best decision ron wilson ever made

  • dayumm that would be embarassing

  • Haha that loser commentating throws Ovechkins name out there real fast right? hahahahah Everybody in Canada is just looking for a reason to hate him

  • @mikawar1124 i use ovechkin's pro stock curve, and it is 100% legal. canadians need the "illegal curve" excuse everytime to make crosby seem better then ovi. its disgraceful

  • @drewfett34 Ovi modifies his sticks after he gets them anyway. So what you have is not what Ovi actually uses. He shaves them down and adjusts the curve with a heat gun.

  • this is good ref'ing in action

  • so whats the legal curve for a stick?

  • spezz, you sneaky son of a buisness man!

  • i dont mind narly curves because it helps with goals. Ovechkin has a narly curve but it just adds to the entertainment. In a time when the NHL is competeing with the NFL and other leagues im all for narly curves. Unless the curve is just such a boomerang all you can do is laugh. Spezza diserved the penalty. Im not saying for the curve but the nose is a major health hazard, he can carv out eyes with that.

  • i wass there

  • penalty should be longer or at least give him 10 min misconduct or something

  • Just sayin', but having a bigger curve in your stick actually changes a lot.

    Just sayin', jimih64.

  • No, it really doesn't. Having a larger curve may give a small, small addition to your power and accuracy, but not enough to make a difference for anyone who's already in the NHL. Like I said, if your curve makes a significant positive impact on your game, there's absolutely no way in hell you're good enough for the NHL.

  • @jimih64 exactly lol, how on earth would this be worth a misconduct, SO many players in the nhl play with illegal curves but thats just because of preference, they could play just as well with any other curve, cause they are in the nhl..

  • lol this guys the man!

  • spezza's a douche

  • :D, funny video

  • Dude, stick rules are fucking stupid. It really doesn't matter what size your stick is. A big curve doesn't give you a more powerful or accurate shot. If you need a certain curve to pick corners you don't belong in the NHL.

  • dood ur exactly right

  • 2 Minutes are pretty much barely a slap on the wrist for blatant cheating.

  • The Probleme of a illegal stick is because if a stick is long that would mean the toe or curve would be stick meaning, you can easyly injure a player or have a more powerful shot

  • Spezza should have gotten also a misconduct:

    NHL Rulebook 2009-2010.

    Rule 10.5 - Stick Measurement

[...] Any player who deliberately breaks his stick or who refuses to

surrender his stick for measurement when requested to do so by the

Referee shall be assessed a minor penalty plus a ten-minute (10)

    misconduct. [...]

  • @GrifOli Yeah but he didn't break his stick or refuse to surrender his stick.

  • Well, he deliberately broke his stick BEFORE it was requested for measurement...and he did end up handing it over when it was requested.

  • @GrifOli Agreed, IIHF says the same.

  • @GrifOli Agreed, tho they gave correct stick to ref. If they wont, then it's ok to give misconduct.

  • @GrifOli he broke it before they wanted him to hand it over

  • @sportsdude98 Because he heard them talking about it.

  • @GrifOli but if you look he broke his stick before they asked him to hand it over.

  • @GrifOli Although I agree, how could they prove it was deliberate, and he did give up his stick

  • @GrifOli dude, remember though.....that rule was made in 09-10'

this probably happened in 08 or something

  • @GrifOli This happened in the 08-09 season, the 09-10 rulebook is irrelevant

  • @GrifOli Sean Avery broke a stick by leaning in to it on a face off this year during the play-offs so the Rangers could catch some extra wind while he switched it out...I guess they didn't penalize him because, well...lots of good it did them

  • ah your right, he should

  • @GrifOli TH

  • please could someone explain why you can't have a thin blade thanks :)

  • the main reason you cannot have a thin toe on your stick is because of injury potential.

  • you can easleiy cut someone

  • whats wrong with the stick?

  • whats bad about a thin blade

  • awesome!!! :DD

  • It's "you're" not your. He may be gay, but "you're" dumb.

  • 1929

  • are you shitting me??? many hockey players have taken steroids, yes baseball players are steroid freaks and baseball shouldn't even be a sport but hockey players do use some juice from time to time

  • Im guessing your a sens fan, well I hope your ready for another season of Alfie acting like a baby and your team under achieving...You = Douche bag

  • Haha! Typical Ron Wilson. Calling for a stick measurement in a meaningless game in March when the Leafs are out of the playoffs. Wow! What a fantastic bold move!!!

  • Pretty much. However, I think you can say the same for Ottawa next season. :(

  • WOW. This is genius, but also sad. Leafs need officiating to make up for their complete lack of skill. Senators won the game afterwords. Leafs Suck!

  • pretty ignorant comment by a bias child..please do some growing up first before you post on youtube, thanks.

  • You must be responding to a different comment. Mine was neither childish or biased. Please read over comments carefully before you lash out. That way you can avoid making statements that are inaccurate. :)

  • 1-no im not, its you 2-your was both, "Leafs need officiating to make up for their complete lack of skill" indicates that your ignorant towards hockey and sports in general making you childish since children arent well devoloped when it comes to rules (watch kids play hockey you'll see) 3-i did read carefully, and i didnt lash out, perhaps you should read over my original comment 4- my "statement" is very accurate..thanks.

  • Oh sorry, your comment was so contradictory that I didn't think you were referring to mine, my bad. I didn't say "that was a bad call" or "the refs are being biased", I was politely putting light on the fact that Wilson used officiating to give his team with no skill (4 years and counting of no playoffs) an edge. If it's still a concern I was not being ignorant. I took the whole situation into account before I posted. I'll use a better term for your statement it's "tragically flawed"

    "thanks"

  • wow, you're an idiot

  • Comment removed

  • Care to elaborate on another one of your assumptions, I'm really curious. I would assume that your a bitter leafs fan, but that would hypocritical.

  • your still speaking to ? you're an ignorant child when it comes to hockey, read your original comment

  • Please explain how I am being ignorant. Just because our views conflict does not mean I am being ignorant. I have been watching hockey for 5 years. I have watched enough to understand the game and form solid opinions.

  • "Leafs need officiating to make up for their complete lack of skill" - brennan8000

  • It's true.

  • Why else would Wilson call the illegal stick? Because likes to crack down on illegal sticks? No, he wanted to give his team an edge because they need every advantage they can get.

  • he called it cos he has a brain and having an illegal stick is cheating..if you were a boxer, would you jump in the ring with a fighter whos on steriods ? its called being fair

  • better not watch baseball then :P

But Spezza used the stick the whole game, Wilson decides to call it in the final 2 minutes. Its a risk, but it gives the Leafs a chance to score. And the Leafs really can't score.

  • he called it near the end of the game cos if a coach asks for someones stick to measured and the stick is legal, then that coach gets a penalty for his team.. and the leafs cant score ? lmao, they had more goals than half of the nhl teams and they did with the most rookie played games for any team in the nhl kid..read the facts before you type nonsense.

  • Well if know so much tell who's gonna get their goals next year. Jason Blake (who I admire)? Lee Stempniak? Wayne Primeau?!

  • i didnt say i know so much i was just telling you a rule, as for goals i would imagine it would be the same people who got them goals last year, blake-25, poni-23, hagman-22,grabovsky-20, and you have to remember that this team is full of rookies and to get more goals than half of the nhl teams is pretty good to me for a bunch of rookies with afew vets

  • Leafs will finish higher then Ottawa though this season

  • But they'll still be out of the playoffs.

  • ya i sure they will their 0-6-1 and ottawa is second in the conference leafs are last

  • And the legal age to be considered a child must be 18 out where you live

  • how the hell does he shoot with a blade like that hahaa and then the 2 minute, jeeze lighten up ref and i think he will get a fine but like its gunna put a dent in spezzas salary

  • lick my fuckin nuts u asshole!!! dont act big on the net u faggot

  • fuckin dirty fuckin senators!!! spezza u piece of shit ur pathetic should of got like 30 game suspension for cheating and knowing u r!! they say drug abuse is so bad but what about illegal equipment? wtf

  • Old time move by Wilson...and Spezza trying to destroy the evidence.haha

  • You also get a fine. not sure for how much, but it's there. Also, if you get caught again you get suspended.

  • THATS PURE BULL!!! 2 MIN? WHAT THE HELL!!! should be a major....

  • Holy shit, the heel is huge!

  • ron wilson does it again

  • well its a risky move, its not like it has NO risk, if ron wilson guessed wrong, then toronto will get the 2 min for delay of game, so its still a risk

  • 2 minute penalty? Barely a slap on the wrist for obviously cheating

  • Spizza cheats

  • lmao that was funny

  • did he really think he would get away with that? that blade is crazy... i want one

  • Shame on Jason Spezza trying to hide the EVIDENCE. LOL

  • You know you suck at hockey when...you have to cheat like that.

  • no hes good i would do that if someone made 1 for me

  • spezza looks like a monkey...

  • forgot to show spezza trying to destroy the evidence

  • idk what an illegal stick in hockey is can someone inform me?

  • It has too large of a curve on it.

  • or the blade's thickness is too thin, Can be used as an actual "blade"

  • yeah they packed a full stadium and set it up just so they could put it on youtube to fake people out.

  • what?

  • hilarious

  • Can´t belive what kind a fuck-face this Spezza guy is!!??? If you can´t play without cheating don´t play at all..

  • shut the fuck up pussy no they wouldnt

  • Gutless call, the Kings would have won the cup in '04.

  • so what is the actual penalty 2 min? i've never seen such a thing

  • how would that make any difference? ..it just looks for me like any other stick

  • YouTube "Unbelievable Hockey Fight"
