• I love the translation, I wish there were more like this on youtube.

• I might be wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure Cynic fits better than Satirist. I mean, Patchy seems more like a cynic who avoids people because she doesn't trust them rather than a girl prone to be satirical. But I'm not sure how it would translate.

• Honestly your xp/98 sound song remixes are way better. I'd stick to that, but I guess you like Japanese girl pop, so do what you will.

• @xnoobxinstinct : I'm not one to do the same thing over and over again, because that's boring. Pretty much every single video of mine, including this and the XP/98 Sounds music, are purely the results of boredom. I get bored and do these things, and decide to share them. There are hundreds of other videos with music made with Windows sounds, made by other people (>90% of which are stolen, by the way), that you can watch if you don't like my videos.

• @SomethingUnreal

Haha, I guess I like the idea of doing windows sounds, but it just didn't seem like the kind of song to be remixing in this way. o.O

• 0:51 Maybe black and white refer to Marisa.

soko no kuro shiro deterame utsutta mitai

It seems the black and white nonsense over there infected me.

• @MegaOTZ They DO.

• sounds like an utau singer...

• AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• Oh, cool! YouTube needs more videos with word-by-word translation of the lyrics.

• *Claps and whistles loudly*

• I really like this version~ <3

• your welcome

• Someone did this a few pages back. xD

Although I appreciate the help, I know some of the translations aren't right (prison...?).

• Prison?.....? ?_? (Cirno Look) I'm A GENIUS!

• The door is open, I'm an unlocked girl

I haven't brought an offering with me

But maybe I'll go to the shrine

I walk together with my book

I go on and change in my own way

Without abandoning my book, I'll go outside

I escape from my own prison

Hey, so this is outside of the secret room

• actually if these are ones from touhou wikia, they're a little off on some things

• The scenery outside is like what I've read in books It's almost something I can feel with my whole body In a windowless world and with the door closed, I'm a locked girl I try and step out The cracks in my heart are filling like empty bookshelves Without abandoning my book, I'll go outside In my contrary way, I won't become an obedient girl for sure I'll always be the cynic I am.
• Now the sky is sunny

I'm tired but I want to try doing things that don't suit me

Hey, I'm having fun

I wonder where that red-white shrine maiden is right now?

• I'll walk together with my book

I'll go on and change in my own way

• Without abandoning my book, I'll go outside

In my contrary way,

I just can't be like that girl.

I'm just my usual cynical self.

I fetch out my spellbook

Let's try and go to the Forest of Magic

• The ever-falling rain is stopping

And I walk out of the library on a whim, aimlessly

It's not like me, isn't it?

More like that nonsensical black-white.

Buried by books, I am alone

Certainly I'm maybe a bit lonely

• If you give me those lyrics, I could translate them.

• First of all, LOL, it said you need to see a DOCTOR! Sensai is teacher, Isha is DOCTOR! But anyways, great job, lol, and also, Are you still.. how should I put it?.. 'charging your randomness?'

• Lol, no. It was let out in the form of the massive "Miku" text. Also, "sensei" is used to refer to a person who you consider superior to yourself. It wouldn't be uncommon to refer to a doctor directly as "sensei". ;)

• As to your ending Comments:

You know that by Precious thing She is refering to her Heart.

Marisa Stole your heart.

Anyway, I really Really like this.

• Yeah, even I understood 'kokoro'. ;P

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

• Do I have Permission to Remix your Remix?

• Well, I'd prefer it if you remixed the original one by IOSYS. ;)

Mainly since I spent several weeks transcribing each separate layer (i.e. instrument) in the music, which was hard work.

• i have no idea what this is or why it exists, but i found your comments in between translations very amusing. :)

• OMG... Owned :D

• Red-white is what Patchy calls Reimu, and Black-white being what she calls Marisa.

• Ah, thanks for exaplaining that! ^^

It makes slightly more sense now among my garbled translations.

• no you suck, don't give s sucky comment on someone's hard work for a project that does not suck whatsoever...you know what, you suck, not the video, nor SomethingUnreal, just you...next time keep your sucky comments to yourself...if only you didn't suck so much you would of been able to see the great talent in this video that doesn't suck at all...

• ROFL ^_^

• I honestly love this much more than the original song by IOSYS. Thankyou. :3

• Thanks very much! That's a big complement to me, being an IOSYS fan.

I'm glad you like it so much!

Personally I prefer the more elctronic-style voice version, but I can't believe I forgot the backing voice on that version. ><

• Just something about some of the lyrics, the forest of magic is where two of the supporting characters live (Alice and Marisa). It so happens that Marisa loves to steal books from Patchouli. Perhaps she wants it back?

• Ah~, thanks for that. Makes more sense now. =D

• that is the weirdest thing I have seen.

それはすごいですね!

• LOL the randomness @ the end HAHA!!! :)

• Hello there, I'm a japanologist, and I think you're doing rather well on the translation, especially since these are pop song lyrics. They usually don't make much sense, in /any/ language.

• Pleeeeaaaaase make a full Hatsune Miku version? *puppydog eyes* I absolutely adore her, and this song~ And to be honest, I think her voice would be way more suited then those overly digitized voices... ^^;

• I was trying to make these sound less electronic than the original, but yes, they still are no match for Miku. ;P

I might do a Miku version some time, but if I do, I'd like to get the pitch to snap to the nearest note (like IOSYS/ARM's original singer has done to her voice). I know you can't do this in Vocaloid2 alone, but I think I have a VST plugin which can do this. It's annoying that I've recently changed hard-drives - all my stuff's left over on the old one, so I have lots of copying to do.

• hi, great song! can i have a MIDI of it for my ringtone

thanks

matthewbratt @ yahoo . co . uk

• Thanks, I'm glad you like it! ^^

Yes you can - please check the description...

(The MIDI isn't 100% complete, but all different parts of the song are contained within the MIDI. In other words, if you wanted to, you could complete it just by copy-and-pasting what's already there. I only did this with the audio used in this YouTube video, not with the MIDI file. That's why this is complete but the MIDI isn't - I'm lazy...)

• thanks :)

• without throwing out the book lets go outside

contrary to what I would have done

I escaped from the locked place

hey, is this whats outside that secret room?

I'm the unlocked girl who opened the door

や~大変った。

2chのブラザーいないと出来んかったんだ。w

• どうもありがとう!で、これらは違う(分からなかった)翻訳:

- puzzling book (not 'evil ways' book, hahaha...)

- I was _born_ (生まれ) on an empty shelf

- 「紅白巫女はどんな時もこうかな?」 2chの翻訳はちょっと意味を逃すじゃないか。 Isn't the 2ch translation missing the meaning?

- kimagure, furari (ありがとう ^^)

- mada furu ame tomete (要求であると思わなかった, didn't think it was a request.)

- 'bury my heart' - The 2ch translation's missing out 'sukima' (empty space)...

• - Born in a book.

- utsutta mitai (thanks, although still a little hard to understand)

- Contrary to what I would've done. Really? I always thought 'mama' means 'like', not 'not like'...?

- I'll just go un-skeptically. I thought this line was saying nearly the opposite - that she USED TO be cynical.

- sunao (素直) means obedient. shoujiki (正直) means honest. Aren't they a little different?

- She's really asking _if_ this is the outside? =/

• スマンさっき間違いった。 (since I'm so skeptical I can't be like that guy)

and like I was born on an empty shelf

I'll bury my heart

without throwing out the book lets go outside

contrary to what I would have done

since I cant be frank (honest)

being so cynical

I don't have an offering but shall we go some place like a shrine

walk together with this book (lets walk together with my book)

and we'll change my way

• to get back that puzzling book shall we go search for it in the forest walk together with this book and lets change together my way the sun has already risen I'm getting weak but I still want to try out some unique things hey, am I fun? I wonder if the miko is always like this.. the scenery I read about in books, I want to experience it in full (feel it through my entire body) this locked girl who locked herself off in a world without windows will start to walk forward
• 日本人なんで翻訳なんか変かも。

please stop this falling rain,

and on a whim, lets aimlessly venture out of the library (lol) kimagure - whim furari - aimlessly

thats totally unlike me isn't it?

it seems like the black and white of that place has come out in a random pattern (utsuu - think of colors coming out in photo etc)

born in a book, I probably was always lonely

without throwing out the book lets go outside

contrary to what I would have done

since I cant be like that person

I'll just go un-skeptically.

• Nice Vid, But Miku Hatsune is obviously the best singer here :P

• Heh, certainly no doubt about that. ;P

• this reminds me of "still alive" in portal lol

• I completely agree with conformer1. :D

• after watching several of your vids, i have concluded that you are quite possibly one of the most awesome people alive. The bleeper music was sweet. Also, i like how you showed what each word meant in this video. as im trying to learn japanese, it was really helpful.

• Wow... thanks! xD

I'm not really sure what to say to that...

I was hoping that it would help someone trying to learn Japanese. =)

By the way, if you like my bleeper music-making program itself, I've released a new revision an hour or so ago which fixes a couple of problems (You can find it on my blog).

• I would absolutely love to see this song re-done with real voices...the lyrics are really fitting to a couple I know, and I'm sure they'd love it.

^.^ Not Saying that this isn't awesome, though! *loves the harmony*

• I didn't know that electronic voices may be so realistic! Good stuff!
