  • I saw him twice - opened for Queen on the Hot Space tour and opened for the Who in the Astrodome. Playing a stadium is hard for anyone - he was completely out of his element. At a time when bands were really stepping up their shows, BS still played like he was in a club. Great songwriter, but not a great performer. Plus I know the girls liked him, but he was kind of sissy on stage. He looked better in those on-stage videos when MTV first came out, but live he was unimpressive.

  • BS was my very first concert back in i think 83...all the girls were blown away until the drummer came out from behind drum kit...got behind Billy & started rubbing his package...we were soo confused rofl...not until years later did we find out he was gay...then it all made sense...so did a lot of his lyrics...I still love is music & would love to see him some around again...LOng LIve Billy Squier!!!

  • It is hard to believe that one video Rock Me Tonite on MTV was a career killer. I think he could of made a comeback if he really wanted to. Billy is a true rock star and he made a great contribution to rock and roll.

  • @Super1bigKahuna ur right...that vid was a career killer...i was such a HUGE fan...& i remember being made fun of by my friends for liking him after that vid.

  • AAAAAHHHHHHH! Good ol' freakin' rock n' roll in all its glory! Thanks Billy

  • I find it funny that when the ego is cut from the mix everyone is in tune...right before his big jerkoff solo.....this band was way too good for him....good voice...MAJOR EGO.....

  • Billy is awesome! He ROCKED!!! Saw him twice in concert, awesome!! Where he fucked himself was the video for "Rock Me Tonight". Bad career advice. He lost his hard rock following when he threw that hunk of shit on the fire. Changed his persona and never got it back. Hated to see it happen to such a talented musician. I wish he'd tour today.

  • This guy really knew how to play guitar and write music. He was not a one-hit wonder and was truly underrated.

  • You rock Billy, their isn't one ' newer ' band today that plays with this kind of talent or heart...Thanks for everything....

  • he made some wise choices during the Emotions in Motion toured that kind of doomed him....fans were very competitive at that time....in 82 he opened for Queen, played a great set, but, obviously he was outshined...in 83 he enlisted a young band to open for him, and they blew him off the stage, we had been rocked before he came out....who were these punk kids you ask?....DEF LEPPARD

  • Flat Out Great Song.

  • It don't get no better than that.

  • Have always had a tape/CD of his within reach for as long as I can remember. My current favorite is his "The Best Of" CD.

  • Bon Jovi used to request this song on his way to the Power Station in New York, true story.

  • God!!!! How I love this song!!!!! So many memories that bring a sneaky smile;)

  • Sooo underrated.... He's an all time Fave I've forgotten about til I pulled out the vinyl

  • Billy had/has awesome guitars!

  • This word is overused, but it's appropriate in this case: AWESOME.

Billy Squier is a rock star, and has a voice that's destined for gold. I wonder if he knew it, or if someone had to say, "Hey, Billy, you sing fucking great!" Man, I like this guy.

  • One cunt didn't like this??? WTF??? Are you retarded??

  • I was a rhode for him in the 80's. Listened to miles of his creative mind. WHAT A PRIVELAGE!!!!!!!!

  • wouldn't it have been great if that Rock me Tonite video didn't kill his career and leave us with that wimp Bon Jovi as his replacement? Apart from John Lennon being murdered and Belushi overdosing, The 80's started out pretty good until the hair metal and synths took over. That's when i tuned out!

  • @RubHerSoul1 Bon Jovi was not his replacement . How dare you! LOL

Billly , in my estimation , was the last of a dying breed. He was ruined , I think , not so much by that video but hair and shredders.

  • @mlmr11 Right. I shouldn't put BJ in any of the same classes of real Rock artists! If only he'd just go away! He sells out stadiums and Billy has to play 3,000 seaters. No justice in this world.

  • The "Rock Me Tonight" video was the death of what would have been a legend.

  • i remember skipping school to go catch a billy squier concert those where the days

  • I was lucky enough to be able to play this LP during my first job as a radio deejay back in the early 80s! Those were the days of GREAT MUSIC! Kids these days have no clue what real, raw rock 'n roll was really like! This was the SHIT!

  • i agree...BIlly was a true grit rocker.not a glam rock fad

  • I love this song!

  • Tina, this goes out to you! From one of the many hearts you broke.

  • hot hot hot!!!

  • I remember dancing in the rock bars/clubs in 83/84 to Squire. When is songs came on, girls always wanted to dance! Squire was and is today one of the best.

  • \M/

  • Billy ROCKS!!!

    LOVE SQUIER!!!!

  • Squire was the sh*t back in the early 80's!

  • Never seen Squier in concert but I remember this video back in the day; my favorite song he did, but this version. Was the face of early 80's rock; little androgynous, sorta simple tunes, but great music without a deeper meaning or agenda. I wish we were back in that scene, just sing a damn song! Dont need to hear what you think about the suffering people of Kampuchea or the plight of a rain forest. Squier knew how to be a proper rock and roll star in his day. Thanks for the share! - Rob

  • i love billy

  • love billy squire...nice video

  • you have a great collection on here LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • huge track on Emotions in Emotion, now where's my album?

  • Squier is the Tiger Woods of Rock and Roll =the BEST!!!!!! he can take a G chord and make it GOLDEN!!!!!!!!

  • Squier is the BEST there is PERIOD!!!!

  • Billy really is ridiculously underrated.

  • @Rum0Piratess Agreed, but alas, his ascent & industry posture was sadly thwarted by the ill-fated RMT video. Nonetheless, his proud & rich musical legacy remains & stands the test of time...

  • @Rum0Piratess he was two steps ahead of Sammy Hagar ! (My opinion)

  • I met him on his Creature's of habit tour. Friend of mine tried out for the lead guitarist spot but lost out to Larry Mitchel. Billy very nice guy, great shows, especialy the Signs of Life. Miss him.

  • I wasn't born (1992) when he was round, but I love his music. He's indeed very underrated, and the fact that he's musical career went down solely because an- admittedly- bad music video was too homoerotical for the U.S. audience is particularly sad.

  • another jealous cunt has to take a shot at the US - pathetic

  • Such comments are nothing but sad. The only way I may be "jealous" at the US is that there are more musicians and bands I like. But I'm pretty sure I'm not a cunt.

  • kadano1. Your asinine comments are truly sad. And, your psuedo intellectual pontifications and musings are ridiculous...The truth is, you have a skull full of diarrhea. Try not to be so stupid from now on, if at all possible.

  • You may think you sound more intelligent by throwing in words like "asinine", but you don't.

If you think that there was a different reason than homophia for Billy Squier's abrupt demise, then maybe be so kind to tell me what you think.

Also from my experiences so far, conservative habitants of the USA tend to focus more on cursing and hating than explaining and discussing.

Do you honestly think I could care less about guys ON YOUTUBE cursing me? Your arrogance and polemics don't help anyone

  • kadano1, there were many gender bending acts who were very popular at the time. it may have been as much as anything that he just no longer fit the image of the particular audience that had brought him to the party.

  • @cmpm439 You're right I wrote some bullshit.

    :-)

  • andrea, reminds me of you dave

  • Best performer of the 80's

  • Billy's so underrated ! One of the best artist's of the 1980's !

  • This is one of Billy's BEST tunes of all time......Rock Forever....

  • LOVE BILLY!

  • Been a fan since I saw him in the 80's, he's 1 of the few artists who's 'live' versions are as good as studio. Back then, they actually played and sang on stage! Love this song, thanks zinfanus!!

  • Billy is playing Norman, OK on 8/7 Be There!

  • playing Walker Mn 6/27 and 6/28 be there!!!!

  • Just seen Billy on 7/12.Fuckin' rocked!Billy doesn't age.

  • Saw him @ The Sting in New Britain CT late 80's; 2 AWESOME - I was feet from him & made eye contact - never forget!!

  • that was my uncle useing my yt.

  • have not heard this song in years . Told my little one about it .She said try the pc. totally sweet!!

  • Thanks for sharin' I love this song great video...great memories!!!

    ROCK ON!!!

Jade, dancin' & prancin' & rockin' in bright fields in flight o fancy!!!

  • Squier's career is still very sucessful!!!!!

  • Boy if Billy would have stuck to music like this instead of doing songs like "Rock me tonight" who knows how his career would have turned out.

  • awesome song, great version. thanks for putting this up :)

  • Billy is one, if not the most underrated performers of the early 80's.

  • i got this cd and this song just get me pumped up

  • this song breaks my heart, but in a good way =]

  • Great song, love it!

  • great writer, great voice, and personally i always liked his guitar playing..rough at times...and sometimes thats the way it should be.. not flashy but definately tasty

  • The only place I ever found this version was a vinyl import from about '87 ('Live and More') - great to hear this version again!! This has a passion that you don't find that much anymore...

  • He has to be the greatest songwriter of all time. All his songs are so different--not just the lyrics but the arrangements, tempos, everything. Amazing.

    Thanks for posting!

  • It made everyone's day here (about 3,200).

    Dead. Spirit World.

    Later

  • Great singer/songwriter from the late 70's who made it big in the 80's and was then run off by the corporates who put him there in the first place. I was lucky to have seen him several times. His songs were the background music of my youth.

  • @mcsantiago64 corporates don't want anyone to be big for too long because then they lose power. Corporate nazi-ism is everywhere in all industries.

  • The best voice in the business...

  • I forgot. This song and the cover of Don't Say No is the reason that I bought my first Tele.

  • great song

  • Oh, Billy! How you are missed. A truly perfect musician... talent, beauty - today's idols have nothing on you (justin?1 really?). I still hold the candle.

  • Please don't mention that little idiot Justin T. fake he steals fame from our real rockers like Mr. Squier. I seen him in concert 7/22/08 in Lemoore, Ca and he stole the show. He still the best guitartist I've ever seen in concert better, better than Mr. Ed Van Halen. Rock on, Billy!

  • Billy's got many, many great songs - but I think this is my favorite. I blew out my Emotions in Motion cassette listening to this one around 10,000 times...

  • same here i loved this song back in the day

  • cool

  • Man this dude is one cool badass muthafu=ker! I miss him!
