University of Wisconsin Marching Band

Saw them today at UW Band day. Truly an amazing group of hard working and talented players. Mike Leckrone is amazing!

And to all who are crabby and talking about these "good bands ranked off of musicality", this is part of the "5th quarter."  It's not a rehearsed ad nauseam thing (I don't think) like the half time shows, it's a celebration for winning the game, and is, more or less, just letting the band have tons o' fun. If you want structure, see their -coughamazingcough- half time shows.

Anytime I have visited a campus in the south I always get greeted with plates of the best food in the country by the best tailgaters in college football. Every time I have been to the midwest or northeast I have been cussed out and had crap thrown at me. And also West Virgina fans are some of the nicest fans I have been around. I've been to A LOT of college games everywhere in the country and it is easy to say the south has the best in class, tradition, food, and hospitality.

The fact that anyone sees this as talent is simply amazing and honestly is very discouraging as a director. Just like Ohio State you try to say that you have "tradition" but in the end your just 40 years behind everyone else in class and musicality. And you guys don't know anything about people from the south. They have a real tradition called "Southern Hospitality" which seems to be missing from the rest of the country.

Oh my God... That was pathetic. Just utterly pathetic. I would be embarrassed to march in a band like this. I feel sorry for everyone who watched this. This made my stomach hurt.

I think most people in the country don't really judge a University band for it's musicality which is a damn shame because there are some find bands that get overlooked. Honestly the Big 10 bands are build off of tradition and not talent so if that's what you think is a good band go right ahead. The real musicians and people who have been on a field with a quality program can easily pick out the true top bands in the land and will just laugh at the ones who do classless acts like this.

And for all the people with the heartless comments about the south, I was at the NC game and there were a lot more "rednecks" and "hicks" from Ohio State's fans than LSU and that is saying something(nothing against LSU ^^) LSU however does make my top 10 band list along with Auburn, Georgia, Jacksonville State, and for a west band I have to say BYU has a very fine sound on the field. Bash away all you want but the South actually wins this argument.

WOW... I mean I have seen some high school bands do this kind of thing but not a college band. I have to say that most people would take it as a slap in the face if you tried to take the field to perform this kind of classless act.

If this is what you call a "traditional" band then thank God I'm part of the "minority". I actually feel sorry for people who enjoy this but I guess that is the Big Ten for you.

really? This is one of the shittiest bands i have ever seen. I can't believe UT is stuck playing against UW in the Outback bowl. The pride will blow these guys out of the water.
