This guy has alot of potential. I like his style of play. He just needs a lesson in humility. How embarrassing when he scored that try against Samoa and started celebrating like NZ had won the game, only for Samoa to come back and beat NZ? That was real sad
I just don't understand why Kurt Baker is such a cocky player on the field against the Samoans. Every time he has done it he has cost New Zealand the game by either getting sin binned or by losing his concentration, but then again he's still a kid who has a lot to learn.
I agree about Baker's performance in Adelaide but from the main stand in Hong Kong, the tackle in the final looked like he was committed. They don't even call that in 15s so a card was quite harsh I thought.
Baker had scored 4 tries against Fiji to help get NZ into the final and then he got the first 2 tries in the final to give them a real chance of winning.
Little consolation when NZ lost but some perspective ...
i agree, it didn't look like there was anything wrong with the the tackle... i was surprised to see that he was thrown in the sin bin. though not sure if without him NZ would have come this far in the tournement anyway, they were only 3 points down in the cup finals. i do agree with the cocky-ness though, on the saturday game against the scotts, the dodge try after the knock on, and still he had the cheecky smile.
The loss of the White seems to have strangely paralleled New Zealand's slide in form. I'll mention it to him to see if he'll consider growing it back for the rest of the series.
