what happened to the BLACK GIRLS on the video? It said BLACK PEARL PRETTY LITTLE GIRL, etc....I love this song and there wasnt a miss america until the 80s
I don't understand, this song supposed to be about black pearls or black girls? whats up with all the white girls on the video? should've been called white pearl.
wow dont know the meaniong behinbd this song but i have always loved it and hey if its about black and white so ok im not commenting cause i know that black divorce black white divorece white wahite fight white black beat the crap out of black and we do hedious sh--- to each other that animals dont do to each other if people love and not lust and if its under the banner of God and spiritualily hey great bravo but how many of us regardless of color race religion truly do it 4 the love of God ?
This is one beautiful song!!!!!! The voices the word along with the feelings it brings to the heart............. Your my Miss America and I love you!!
"The times. The very difficult times. It was disturbing, everything that was going on at that time period between people. All of our people. Just people and segregation, the differences. It was heartfelt what we wrote and that's how that song came about. We did that song and Phillip did an incredible record with The Checkmates. You know, Sonny Charles has a great lead. It was Sonny and Sweet Louie. It was a great record." - Toni Wine
I'm white, but I LOVE the classic Soul soings of the '60s and early '70s and the Doo Wop of the late '50s. I also love bright colors. When at work, I hang out with a mostly black crowd. One day, a black dude told me that many the other whites did not like me for that reason. So what? If they don't like me, fuck them.
So glad I found this classic! This is Spectre at his finest and Sonny was fabulous! To all you 'black pearls' out there -God Bless and I hope you all found your deserved happiness
Totally right up there on my list of timeless songs I close my eyes and remeber back to when I first heard it I was like 7 and I always felt it was sung for me hahaha still do thanks 2 yoo.... YouTube
I haven't heard this song for so long. It's always nice to "bump into an old friend." Sonny Charles sounds so much like Stevie Wonder (or vice versa).

My dad told me he used to sing this to his girlfriend in highschool in the late 60's.
He's white, she was black. This song always makes me happy.. Love conquers all barriers.

If only the brothers would treat black women according to the sentiments expressed.. I've searched for years for this song. It's a classic.

@lexcordis If you're from the Chicago area, notice the picture that says "Costa Rica Northern Railway."
That's the old C&NW logo.
What gave them the idea to have stolen the logo?
