@Claquizzal That's supremely ignorant. ARPANET, precursor of the internet, was developed by DARPA 1969, before Bill (born 55) was even in high school. The idea of it being free for everyone to access was done by the scientists using it, which was during the 70's. If Russia had created it, it would not be a free internet since the then-USSR was extremely locked down.

Also, Bill Gates didn't think the internet was going to be popular, 40 years after it was created. TCP/IP was bolted on to Win95.

Russia was the only country doing the level of research necessary to create the internet on a timescale where it would have been as advanced as it currently is now, and they would have locked it down completely - in line with the entirety of Russian governmental culture for the last 70 years. Also, they don't like Ukrainians They wouldn't allow UKRNs to show their talent.
