You say desperate times but the people who follow your advice won't do anything but make it worse for themselves. I think it is sad they are getting foreclosed, but maybe they should have found a way to make their payments. They are not staying in "their homes" as they are now owned by the bank or the bank has sold them to new owners. Those people should have made better decisions when it comes to spending their money and they wouldn't be in that situation. It is their loss.

it will be even a greater loss if they stay in a home that isn't theirs. If the bank already sold it to someone else then many states allow you to shoot anyone that is trespassing on your property. That is much worse than just losing their house. I own a travel business and I haven't seen any effects from this recession. I have already done 21% more booking this year than I did last year at this time. I think people should pay their mortgage or get out of the house.

First if banks were to foreclose on that many homes there would be no housing market and the banks would be forced to lower their standards and give homes back to people who were foreclosed on. Second you cannot enter a property and start shooting, but if you own the property and someone trespasses then in most states as long as you declair your intentions you can shoot. Do your homework.

Housing prices were artificially inflated during the boom and when the bubble popped those people that were overleveraged were completely wiped out. You should study Austrian economics for a better understanding of the current economic troubles. The new owners of foreclosed properties would be well within their rights to shoot any trespassers.

Already its predicted that this month close to 700 K jobs will be lost .. These are extraordinary times .. These are indeed extraordinary times but that does not negate the fact that people who willingly walked into a deal on a home without doing their due diligence and are now suffering for it should take responsibility for their poor decisions. I will not blame so called "predatory lending" practices because ultimately the home owner has to sign the paperwork. If they can prove they were lied to then that is fraud and they are entitled to pursue the matter in court and get renumeration.

Treasuries collapsing would be indicative of hyperinflation, something I personally am not concerned about. More worrisome is the flight of people into government debt as if that were some sort of safehaven. I wonder if they don't realize that all the government would do is print the dollars to fulfill the treasury obligation or that dollars themselves represent debt.

Finally, I will say that almost all unemployment in this country is voluntary. Somehow people have it in their heads they are entitled to high wages. Labor is a market just like any other with a price structure. The only thing holding all of our markets back is government interference. Regulations and government handouts break everything. I'm all in favor of complete and total deregulation and government noninvolvement. Since it has never been done before, we should see how that works out.
