  • damn, i own this vcr and i think i will watch the whole video now^^

  • @RachelFuryRocks yes it is asome feeling i want to be one on fia gt series

  • "....in fifth gear" ? No sir, in top gear! :)

  • vote positive a race bugatti veyron vs this McLaren F1 GTR, much better and just loooooool

  • @MAXCDE27 How could it be better? The only thing that beats the McLaren is speed, but not corners

  • @dabomb4333 if f1 maclaren regular in the start of the race he win and then slowly lost in the more velocity because Veyron have turbos I would like to see the GTR that has more power against the Veyron, would be a fair duel though I admit that was to be curvy and not just straight

  • @MAXCDE27 YOU DON'T MAKE SENSE! The Veyron is horrible in corners, sure the veyron's better, but the McLaren gets the start and the finish because the power to weight ratio is much better, and it get around the corners with ease, the only thing that hunk of ugly metal called a veyron gets is top speed. you know it

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, i love this legend...

  • love this track in forza

  • I went to silverstone to watch the grandprix and i managed to talk to a guy who was working on jenson buttons f1 car and i asked him a few questions about it like what it tops out at and so, i ended up mentioning where the engines were built, i was surprised when he said everything on a mclaren f1 car is british built, same goes with all mclaren mercedes f1 cars, all british built. ross brawns mercedes team f1 cars, also british made.

  • @kinkaid25

Maybe built by british, but German engineering, that is the key to victories.

Mclaren engine is BMW-engine, and without it, I really doubt the great succes in Le Mans.

My point: british copy things and try to take the credit. Like russians during cold war...

  • @karvanenmato It's not always about how fast the engines goes, it all goes down on aerodynamics and how the car itself was designed and built and the technology they used to build it was well ahead of it's time. The Mclaren f1 would still have dominated le-mans anyways because the feats of engineering on the car was enough, it's just gordon wanted a specific weight of engine to balance the car, the engine was still directed by gordon murrey and the way he wanted it.

  • @kinkaid25

In a 24 hour endurance race the most important piece of the puzle is the engine.

I agree that Mclaren F1 is great car, but you must read some history about the engine chooce Murray made. For instance the engine wasn't directed by Murray. It was Paul "Rosche" or something on BMW Motorsport that designed the engine and it wasnt strictly that Murray wanted, but he realized that this is the BEST engine they could get in this time schedule.

No hard feelings, I love McF1, but truth please

  • @karvanenmato

From what I have read. Murray asked first Honda but said can't be done. So he then called his old friend Paul.

Said no problem, give you a call in some weeks.

When he called Gordon later and presented the engine he first said. I'm sorry but the engine is 16 kilograms heavier than you asked. On the other hand it produces 621hp. Gordon could just not believe what he had just heard.

  • @karvanenmato

Paul has also called Gordon in the last production year and said by his calculations they could get 1200 reliable hp with 2 turbos. Gordons answer was simply NO, it's over now.

It's also the only engine I know that can last a hole racing season without rebuild.

  • @karvanenmato

Murray first wanted Honda to make the engine, because at that time Honda dominated F1 with McLaren. Honda however backed down from this for unknown reasons, maybe because they didn't want to power a supercar other than of their own making. That's like asking them to design an engine for another motorcycle. It wouldn't work for them.

Listen up. Jaguar won LeMans in 1951 and 1953 just because they had discbrakes, when Ferrari still used drumbrakes. In 55-56-57 they won again.

  • @karvanenmato

What's this nonsense coming out of you?Gordon Murray NEVER intended the F1 to be raced at all! He just wanted it to be the ultimate roadcar.Unfortunately it was released in a time the early 90's recession was still felt so in order to boost sales they were forced to make the GTR racing version later to be converted to roadlegal

Zora Arkus-Duntov was the godfather of the Corvette and the smallblock V8,he was a Russian-jew born in Belgium.Does that make the Corvette a Russian car?

  • @karvanenmato

Check out how many times the Kamaz (Russian incredibly rugged and reliable trucks) have won the Paris-Dakar rally. I'll tell you. A record 10 times.

Sergei Korolev designed rockets in the 1930's but was imprisoned, when he was given free hands after Stalin's death he designed seriously big rockets.

What about the Lunochod remote controlled lunar rovers? The next remote controlled was the Mars Explorer in 1997, which drew a lot of influence from the former.

    Read a book or two.

  • @karvanenmato

If you're stupid enough to believe the engine is the only thing that makes a car then you're dumber than a bag of rocks.

And how you ANY idea how many British designed engines have won LeMans, F1 and IndyCar?

Copy what you moron? That engine was specifically designed by BMW for McLaren on Gordon Murray's request.

What did the russians copy during the cold war you retard? They did get first in space twice without copying anybody and invented a lot of innovative and rugged things

  • Recognize it from Forza 3 :-)

  • great video, btw who would dislike this?

  • What a car ! Greatest car and best sounding supercar of all time , period !

  • People shouldn't think mclaren when they here about one, they should think BMW.

  • @ichancei, the engine makes a big noise and people think that it makes the car, which emotionally they may have a point but in terms of performance, they don't. It was the only bit which used many standard components out of mainstream car production. Its basically 2 m3 engines on the same crank. the F1 could have been powered by a wide variety of engines and it would still be as great as it is. The engine was the most conventional part of that car by a long way.

  • @ruddytechnik

Don't agree with many std components, for example they 2 injectors on each cylinder.

This is the first car with Vanos. But yes the m3 engines after this are verry alike (even if not a singel match (have compared the spare part list)). But it I think the m3 engines wouldn't been near as god if the McLaren engine hadn't been produced. When the S50 engine came out there wasn't anything that was near as good in a that mass-produced car, or reliable (seen cars with over 300 000km on)

  • @Iceeeen the standard components included the steel and nickel alloy valves, pistons, steel con rods, cam profile etc. There were many differences, more so for LM, but the fact remains that for the F1, the engine was the most conventional part and best understood beforehand. I disagree with the prevailing notion that the engine is the most difficult to design or is most important regarding performance and that some some people think a BMW badge would be more deserving on the car than McLaren's.

  • Which track?

  • @sk8wnec cirque de la sarthe, france, its the le mans track where the 24hour endurance races are held :)

  • omfg that things shifts!

  • Its funny how he just skipped other cars :)

  • AWESOME video.... cool to listen to him play by play it.... awesome stuff....

  • sound exactly like the zonda off of test drive unlimited

  • great vid. what is this from?

  • 01:20 wow! The F40 is still a fast car but get absolutely Murdered!!!

  • Think that the McLaren F1 and Ferrari F40 were in different race classes for Le Mans at the time - but yeah I agree!

  • @dave41184 no, they were both GT1's :)

  • They were the same class GT1.

  • @ssssroryssss2 F40 Where ?

  • oh and by the way, if BMW would make a M car powerful enough to handle such a engine, and put the Mc f1 engine in it, BMW would be on the lead of Mercedes, cuz SLR (Mercedes's fastest car) sucks and if bmw comes with a new M, it is always a good one.

  • mclaren süper cars

  • It BMW power!

  • yeah man,

    //M POWER 4 LIFE!!

  • that good classic gt1 in LeMans

  • Oh my god how fast is he going aye.

  • Great! Thank you very much for posting. Im looking for this vid for years now! I've posted my answer, the onboard race video.

Thanks again! ... and cheers to Andy Wallace!

  • No problem

  • Nice quality vid!!

  • Duke Videos has a DVD called "In-Car Sportscar Experience" (google it), its got onboards from BPR 1996 (FIA GT predecessor) season, most of it is from McLaren F1 GTR but also Lotus Esprit V8 and Ferrari F40. Amazing stuff. Very good sound quality and from several camera angles, mostly from incar camera.

This is not spam, just wanted to say if someone is interested.

  • I have been looking for that vid for a long time. Thanks for the info.

  • @deggis4

    Thanks man!!!Such a good video!!!

  • Nice... Do you have a link of the actual Le Man 95, when the Mclaren won?
