I'm thinking of buying either this guitar, an Airline 3p or 2p or a Gretsch double jet G5445T. I've heard both guitars are very verstaile, and have tried the gretsch, however i've ever seen an airline in person but i have only heard good things about them. I've heard both are very versatile. Help please.
The "Hutto Model" (sometimes called a Jetsons model) is different in a lot of ways but primarily: 1) it had two pickups as opposed to the 3 on this Airline 2) it was a Res-O-Glass (hollow fiberglass body) while this one is a solid body, I believe 3) the Hutto didn't have a Bigsby tailpiece 4) The old Hutto was much more "cheaply" made and contains inferior parts - in terms of affordability, electric guitar building/electronics have come a long way since the 50's.

what would you say is better. the eastwood airline 3P or the fender jag HH? what is this guitar like. light or heavy? reliable? worth the money? please get back to me
the reason we call it a jack white guitar is because he is the only one to play it, jimmy page isnt the only one to play a les paul so you can own one without anyone saying its a jimmy page guitar same with a strat or pretty much anything else
@TheSwollenPickle I don't think you can say Jack White is the only one to play it, there are some musicians like Calexico's Joey Burns, PJ Harvey or Josh Klinghoffer, the new RHCP-guitarist; so I think calling it the Jack-White-Guitar fits just as much as calling the LP the Jimmy-Page guitar...just my opinion.
I have one and it's simply the most amazing guitar I have ever bought! it sounds great, it's easy to play, the neck is really fast and the tone is sooo fat! when the guitar finally arrived from canada (i'm from portugal) i just had to start rocking the neighbours out!

@bluesboyguitar This aint jacks guitar :P. That was a mosrite and this is just a copy. A real PLASTIC mosrite would set you back over 2000 $. Mosrite hase been out of buisnes for a lot of years now so you probably wont find one easely.
Original Airlines arent anything special. Listen to Jack white live. Ignore the fact that its jack white and just pay attention to the sound coming out of the guitar. It sounds hollow and cheap, and doesnt sustain well, like a guitar that was sold in a department store (Montgomery Ward). The reason they sell for so much is because they're old and people like Jack White play them. I own an Eastwood airline, and it puts the original fiberglass model to shame. To shame.
i fucking love the design this guitar has. i have a question for you experts =). is it true that you can get any sound out of any guitar with the right hardware? thanks
@DGENERATE07 - sure but talent helps. Sounding like Velvet Underground may not work for just anybody, because Lou Reed had charisma. The Ramones were actually extremely musical and nobody can really copy that. Simplicity can be deceiving. However- 'anyone' can form a $#!t band.
@TubeFreakJonas i get the point you're trying to make man, all the crappy bands filling up the world with not as much passion for the music. Although, I do think its okay for people who make crappy music to form a band, for the experience, but them becoming successful like what happens a lot these days is just bull shit. I didn't know that about The Ramones, doesn't matter and simplicity is simplicity though i guess
I just got one recently and i love it. It ain't no fender thats for sure. Your fingers have to really work, but not in a bad way. The guitar kicks my ass and it totally making me a better player. The tone beats out any guitar I've played; vintage, boutique, new, whatever. Airline ftw!
it's wierd, i know exactly what he's talking about, its an awesome guitar, but it's my least favorite out of all of my others. Something with the neck, makes the strings feel really stiff, and just really tight no matter what tuning, its more so the middle to high strings. Strong fingers are necessary. . And all the knobs get in the way. It's got a good weight to it, not light. But the TONE! Whoa, it's really deep. you can feel it in your bones, And the sustain burns. Great for recording.
To clear things up Jack White Plays a complete different guitar. He plays the original airline Res-o-glass from the 1959, 1960s. They stopped making them so Eastwood decides to make replicas. Jack Whites is original and sounds better. He plays the 2p but not buy Eastwood. you can tell since Eastwood does not do that white stripe on the outside =]
The replicas are actually made a whole lot better than the original 60s models, although tey dont have the original vintage tone the necks are alot more solid and the whole thing is just more solidly built and better finished! Theyre worth checking out and sound phenominal!
the ones from the 60's models sound like crap. he had it rewound or something. the weird shaped guitars from the 60's didn't sound that good but they looked cool
Actually, the original sounds like crap compared to Eastwoods Airline, still it's way cooler to have an original Res-o-glass. And about that white stripe, Eastwood's got a new model of the Airline that does have the white stripe. :)
cool guitar - but why do they demosntrate it with distortion? I'd like to hear what it really sounds like with all the different settings and clean sound.
dude, jack wite's is a vintage airline from the sixties with two pickups. Also, it isnt the "jack white guitar." Do people call the les paul the "Jimmy Page guitar?" or the stratocaster the "david gilmour guitar?"
