  • Strong girl = good 4 u

  • I really like the anime and the novel

  • i read the book! it was wonderful!

  • 0:28 Action starts!!!

  • I think Balsa would make a great female role model. I mean, look at her, SHE KICKS ASS! *U*

  • is it weird that i like this anime and also naruto? im just curious...

  • This series is amazing and one of my top favorites.

  • She is so similar to Saya from blood+...'

    Saya neechan!!!!!

  • @izazut Have you actually seen this series? Balsa is nothing like Saya.

  • @AngelsNecropolis

yeah of course, r simillar cause their face r similar and both r fighters, s not that enough to say both r similar?

  • Wow I haven't been into any animes lately (they all seem like cutesy garbage), but this I'd watch!

  • does anyone knows an anime series like this one???

  • @classical715 Kara no Kyoukai, The main character is a female knife fighter. Look up "Paradox Spiral Fight" for a taste

  • @dropkickcorpse ohhhh O_O!!!thanks;)

  • @spacedaz121 can u girls change the way u flame guys? ooh disgusting swine, soo original. Gtfo stupid chick.

  • >240p

    >2011

  • Such a great high-budget series. It's too bad not many people know this show instead of Haruhi Suzumiya and the rest of moé garbage coming out these past years.

  • @AnimeGuruma Now, now. Haruhi Suzumiya was a decent anime, with good characters and an interesting and deep plot. Same can't be said for so many others which are basically clones of each other. Having said that, Seirei no Moribito is definately one of my favourite animes ever. The story, the characters, the art, all of good and none overdone. If one bad thing can be said about this anime, it'd be the design of the La Lunga at the end. I didn't like those.

  • @AnimeGuruma

Agreed, these kinds of anime should be more popular. although I am a fan of Haruhi :P

  • @AnimeGuruma

u should watch madoka magica, it's one of the best bloody moe I've eveer seen :D

  • @izazut seen it, I thought it was good but not a total masterpiece. Seen those plot twits before. imo saying that it's on par with NGE is ridiculous.

  • one of my favorite anime.

  • @LilyAnneVaj

Only so true! SNM is also a more mature anime.

  • @LilyAnneVaj Well, Naruto isn't weak at storytelling, they just take too long to get to the point on purpose. That's the problem with all Shounen manga. They're too frickin long you just lose interest in them

  • Easily the best anime I've seen in years. The story and art were both beautiful.

  • I recently read this part and there is just something different

  • Nigero!

  • Fantastic choreography

  • shivers

  • chagum too dumb to live.

an whats with all the comparison to other anime? naruto and bleach are dumbed down action anime, i mean dont get me wrong I enjoy mindless action for the sake of mindless action any time but in terms of story and character development they simply don't compare and there's nothing wrong with that another note shonen is the japanese word for boy the key demograpic for those kinds of shows so expecting to much out of them is too much to ask

  • @LilyAnneVaj Actually, Naruto is about 80% talking, shouting and explaining, whereas 20% of it is genuinely fighting. Of course, the action sequences in Naruto are pretty crap, accept for some. They should take a page out of this series. This is how real fighting should be done.

  • the main character in this series is lame, she refuse's to kill her enemies so if you hate lame pacifist dumb asses avoid this anime like the plague.

  • @danish211 she seemed like a bad ass to me . maybe your a violent type of person

  • @1Tabikyo

no i like nonviolent anime as well as blood and guts anime i just find it stupid that a pro fighter would leave her enemies alive to attack he when she least expects it. i think its stupid to have someone who isn't will to kill in defense of the person their supposed to protect when there job is a bodyguard leaving and potential threat alive is an idiot and an incompetent bodyguard.

  • @danish211

a bodyguard is someone who protects their client. All throughout the series that what balsa has been doing.Because of a promise she made with herself she doesn't kill, but she will depending on the situation .she just tries to avoid killing a person.which i agree that it was a stupid promise she made with herself. As long as she protects the client i don't see how she's incompetent.(sorry if this seems like an argument I'll stop now)

  • @1Tabikyo i don't wish to argue i merely wish to point out leaving enemies alive who have fought her who can learn and potentially counter her techniques is illogical and would increase the threat to the person she had to protect. I find it illogical that body guard would place a promise to herself over the life of an innocent surely the honorable path lies in doing what must be done to protect innocent life rather than the lives of assassins and killers.

  • Balsa is such an awsome fighter. This is one of my favorite fight scenes. Balsa is so epic! XD

  • I like in this anime actually a lot because of the fewer fight scenes. First off thoose fight scenes are awesome and also, it becomes somewhat stupid when you see the heroes constantly unrealistically trounce the villains repeatedly.

  • Can we stop it with the Naruto-Moribito fight?! Personally, I think that they're both good shows. Everyone has their own opinion, there's no need to shove it into other people's faces. It's okay for someone to not enjoy Naruto and say that, and it's okay for someone to not enjoy Naruto and say that. There's no point in having a huge, pointless argument over which show is better.

  • @TheLanternSpirit you know what you got some got damn nerve talking about naruto you anime freak and naruto is the best he is so amazing he gives you happness, love and tells you to never give up then seeing ppl kill them selves in a show like that plus you wouldn't understand naruto if you haven't seen the whole damn show and storyline i love naruto cuz it is a great show with lots of action and has a meaning in life dum-asses

  • @sakura20201 haha, you know what the funny thing is?I'm a huge Naruto fan.I have so much naruto merchandise at home.I have seen the entire show.I also read the manga, and all the guidebooks, including the ones that haven't been released in the US!I have to agree with you, the best thing about Naruto is the underlying themes, how revenge save you from darkness, and how bonds are important, etc.

Its okay to think that Naruto is a better show. But its also important to respect other shows as well.

  • @sakura20201 sorry about the overly long response...I planned to say even more, but I guess I ran out of space. But yeah! It is nice to meet another person who loves Naruto as much as I do, but I'm sure there are many people who love Moribito just as much, and it's important to respect that! Heck, I took two years of japanese (going on three) just so I could understand the original japanese manga more, and every single time I go to Japan I buy so much Naruto stuff...so yes, I am a huge fan :)

  • @sakura20201 Naruto is good at times but its way to emotional gets really annoying in my opinion so ye id say the best anime id ever seen is hmm code gease r1 and r2 its great you should check it out if you haven't seen it already

  • @TheLanternSpirit o how nice i also took up japanese and i'm going to japan soon but you the one who started this big thing over this show and naurto's i said i liked this show in the first place and i think you need to say sorry to me

  • @sakura20201 oh, that's even awesomer! Though you know, I don't think I really started the whole naruto-moribito argument, that had already started with the comment up there. Me, I'd prefer if everyone could just get along and respect each other's opinions, and I don't really see what's wrong with that :)

I hope you don't take offence for this, but I just don't really get why I need to apologize. All of my points have been made politely, and I'm not insulting anyone,ya?

  • @sakura20201 oh, in response to another comment you made, the show is called "Serei No Moribito." It's pretty good, it's got nice animation and a good plot. I'd say it's worth trying out.

  • @LilyAnneVaj just cus it didnt work for you doesn't mean Naruto didnt work for others

  • @LilyAnneVaj woah rephrase your sentence, as ep1 came out the character had a bond with naruto, also naruto's story telling is actually good, but because it has so much episode the plot is slow, wow please dont put your own point of view in an argument it's sh1tty

  • @TosinDFreshPrince agreed

  • @LilyAnneVaj well naruto does bond with the viewers and th e story is not really weak.....but its not the best XD

as for action........i would take 1 3 min well choreographed and detailed well drawn and emotion full scene like this over 1000 fast paces barely recognizable ones any day :/ and sad to say naruto shippuden has nothing on naruto

the animation is bad......its just bad :( i still like it but from an artist point of view.....its not on my top list.

  • @LilyAnneVaj Don't you dare dis naruto like that naruto has action, comdy, and romance so how would u know that naruto story telling is weak naruto story telling is awesome with sasuke and naruto man get with it . it is funny which made me watch it and the action which made me keep track of it so there you have it millions of people love naruto

  • Holy fucking jumping Jesus. I can't believe people are actually defending an anime like Naruto. What are you, 11? I'm glad you're a part of a minority who believes that Naruto is actually good, rather than just a way to kill time. Naruto is bad. Really bad. Worse than your average anime. Fuck, even Bleach is better, and that show is a piece of crap. Stop wasting your time and watch something good; like this show.

  • whats the name of this show or movie ?

  • Nvm.

  • What's the theme called?

  • Blasa sooooo kicks ass. Fact

  • I loved this series. Yes it was short, but short stories get the point across. I mean look at Naruto. The series has been out for a long time and nothing exciting happens anymore. The same thing is happening and you don't see much development in the characters. I'm not bashing the show, i like it, i read it. Why? Because i'm ready for the ending. We see the prince go from a spoiled child to a strong warrior in heart. Naruto is still as stubborn and arrogant from the first episode.

  • this was such a good anime!! why do all the good ones end so fast! =(

  • Balsa wins, hands down. Best fighter in existence to date. And a spear fighter, no less

  • For some reason I replayed this fight scene in my head with balsa's spear replaced by a broomstick. Think of how humiliating it would be for her male attackers. Plus it would still suck getting the brush end of a broom across the eyes...

  • the end part of this video made me laugh for some reason, hard core ass kicking and then the guy just pokes her with a ninja star

  • WHen this show was on adult swim, I missed most of it because adult swim aparently didn't think this show was very popular and moved it to some pretty late time slots. I wouldn't mind if I didn't have to go to church in the morning. Can anyone show me where I can find this anime?

On topic though, this fight was beautifully detailed. I like fight scenes but if you do it to often they get a little boring. Aka Bleach and Naruto, who really like to drag out a single fight over several episodes.

  • i know this may seem out of the blue but this is what Naruto needs... a bad ass female character T^T seriously all kunoichi do in Naruto is fly around (after getting kicked or punched or whatever)

  • Balsa is the best fighter!

  • @Seiferzed omy god fuck u biatch ur a afraid cuz ure a weak bitch

  • @Seiferzed cool go live in this anime that's what everyone is like in it

  • @Seiferzed Pretty sexist comment there. Did you know, that the style of Wing Chun was developed by a woman? The style that a martial arts master by the name of Ip Man mastered himself and passed on to his student Bruce Lee.

  • @Jspgmdzo Indeed. I agree whole heartedly. The movie Ip man was also VERY good (thought I'd throw that in there :D) and something notable from it is when Ip man makes the statement, it's not about the style but the person, that's true all the way.

  • @TheCybertranceNinja Yes. I loved it. Have you seen the second? It's so adorable because a young Bruce Lee appears. It holds a lot of good storyline to that movie and lovely fight scenes. My grandma and family thinks I'm crazy because i prefer watching movies with subtitles when they speak other languages. If it's voiced over they don't hold the same emotions and the voice to mouth movement ration is totally off.

  • @Jspgmdzo Haha, my family is the same with me :) No, I have not seen Ip Man 2, but it does look very interesting.

  • You want quality story telling without the cheap over used niches then:

Seirei no Moribito is the anime you're looking for.

The substance of this anime epic will always out weigh mindless over endulged fight scenes and fan service the likes of Bleach, Naruto, Ikki tousen etc has to offer.

  • I love watching girls fight just as tough and hard as the guys can. Four big, strong men got pwned by Balsa. HA! LOVE IT! =D

  • it seems difficult for japanese to accept the women samurai who weild Katana... so that every women were obliged to train Nakinata

  • Why? WHY not more anime like this one? Why there must mostly be like these kid looking heroes with the stupid voice? They can create some really good and deep anime, they must make more like this one.

  • @kyoshiina Amen Kyoshiina, amen.

  • @MaxPayne0102 indeed brother. Amen!

  • Comment removed

  • @kyoshiina because BUDGET

  • @kyoshiina Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, and Mushi-Shi.

  • Also the novels this show is based on rock ass, the anime is one of the best novel to anything adaptations I have ever seen it's completely faithful to the book while altering and adding things where necessary. And I gotta say some of the best fight scenes in anything ever.

  • I LOVED this anime and Balsa!

  • Just love Balsa mature voice :))) So different from all the anime heroines - most of whom are very annoying.

  • @cl1cka Yea how can anyone take them seriously when they have this cutesy high pitched voice.

  • 1:40 pwnt

  • Well... After a scene like that, I HAVE to watch the anime... XD

  • LOL at 1:47 "don't worry guys, i got her!!....huh?" XD

  • anybody know the song please?!

  • @seon126 Karu! - Kenji Kawai

  • I've read seen the anime, bought the dvds, bought and read the two books translated in english... I seoriously need more Moribito. The best anime series I ever seen.

Changing slightly the subject: does somenone knows if the coreographies and the spear fighting movements recall any existing martial art? Wudang and most of the chinese spear forms doesn't seem close to this, since the wushu spear is quite different (flexible and with the piece of clothing on top, no metal wrap near tip, like Balsa

  • this is by far the best anime I`ve seen in all my life, great caracters, great music, great scenery, and great fighting scenes,

  • A protagonist that wields a Spear?! The weapon used by Cannon Fodder, instead of a Sword?!

And speaking of Cannon Fodder... Enemy mooks that are actually COMPENTENT?!

    In an Anime?! PERPOSTEROUS!

  • i swear balsa is one of the hottest anime women :D

she shows realism in her body

rather than the out of proportion parts of the body (not that i'm complaing)

  • What did she do to the guy at 1:39?

  • Comment removed

  • @pwnorbepwned

She kneed him in the groin.

    Unsurprisingly effective.

  • @pwnorbepwned I think you be stun a bit if a super fast spear just thrust beside your face.

  • 2:00 is fucking brutal.

  • @AlineMB

    IKR?!

  • We need a second season. Balsa did not get to kick some more ass.

  • @adzez They could. The anime is baed on the first of ten volumes of a novel series. That's right folks, a potential NINE more seasons.

  • @adzez They could. The anime is based on the first of ten volumes of a novel series. That's right folks, a potential NINE more seasons.

  • @pwnorbepwned really?

  • Things I like about this anime: the lack of blood fountains; the abstinence of shouting attack names; the non-presence of sexual fanservice.

  • They look like a bunch of retards when they run lol

  • only Production I.G can pull this off.

  • 0:24 Man, Balsa is CUT!

  • anybody know the name of the song in that scene? x3

  • @LilyAnneVaj I agree to a point. I couldn't speak for the vast majority of fans out there that watch Naruto / Shippuuden as far as bonding the audience with the characters. They're given quite a bit of opportunity to do so and in some cases they do. The demographic they target and the author's way of telling Naruto's story is aiming to connect with a younger audience where as this one seems to want to connect to much older audiences. I do agree though, there's a stark contrast...

  • @LilyAnneVaj i get what ur saying about SNM, the action is rare because it isnt an action genre anime, when battles take place their necessary. But your wrong about Naruto's storytelling. The episodes are numerous because of the fillers but that doesn't mean the story is lacking or poorly-made. The manga is where Naruto truly shines and the story has different branches that spread out from the beginning of the series then start to some together much later on in the epic. Its for patient people.

  • 1:40 + Hit In The Balls= Wont Have Baby's

  • the fight scenes in this anime were some of this most intricate i have ever seen. Its unfortunate there were so few of them. I ended up getting bored the show. I wonder why they didnt add more action throughout

  • is this show kinda similiar to avatar the last airbender

  • Joker365 and Zeuts85 are dead right on. Awesome anime, worth watching.

  • the animation for this series was way ahead of many of other series in its time and today. each episode literally is movie quality. its also a refreshing storyline and a breath of fresh air from other series. one of the best series out there

  • Moribito is slow-pace to begin with but once theirs a fight scene they always go all out. Every fight scene is fluid to look beautifal and fast pace. I think my favorite is when she fought the other spear wielder. You should definatly see that one.(She really fought crazy in that one ^-^)

  • it seems to be fantastically animated.

id watch it, but such an old overused setting... rough choice. at any rate, i dont like the female lead at all D8

  • thats some good spear fighting tactics .. this was a good series .. It would look good if it turned into a movie..!

  • wow the prince is a noob....

  • Yeah, so, this looks like it's gonna be a must-watch for me.

I hear this is kind of a gritty low-fantasy story? Reminds me of Berserk.

  • I have to forewarn you: Though it was an excellent anime, action scenes like this are few and far between. It is mostly contemplative and character-driven. However, the background scenery and overall animation are so breathtaking that it would be worth watching just to admire the art. If you don't mind the slow pace, you'll enjoy it.

  • @Zeuts85 Darnit, I knew there was a catch!

  • @Zeuts85 Honestly, that's what made the action stand out. Rather than every episode having an over the top fight, the action was saved for more dramatic moments. And when they did have a fight, it was always beautifully animated.

  • @Maphysto i quite agree, to be honest i like the fact that its slow i just started watching this anime, i love the slower pacing, like you say when there is less action, when it does happen it usually leaves you flabbergasted, i have seen 5 episodes.... its getting late so im going to bed... but when Balsa kicked up the rock and smashed that dude in the face i nearly crapped my pants, this show is waaaay to good animation wise, especially 26 episodes..... anyways i really like it so far. cheers.

  • It's not based on fighting, so you're not going to see stupid super crappy laser chi bomb blasts.

The fighting is masterful, but few and far between. This is a character driven story.

  • @Filby i was pretty amazed by the story. didnt expected that.

  • check out the part of the video when he gets hit on the chest 2;23

  • @EckoUchiha1 lol she didn't hit him in the chest man, she pwned him IN THE FACE!

  • this anime is hard

  • Great fight scene. The jigoro fights are epic too.

The only better fights i think ive seen are in Sword of the Stranger

  • Samurai Champloo maybe as well

  • Meh, I saw Champloo; I can't agree there. They were badass fights mind you, but not better than this. Sword of the Stranger on the other hand; yes. xD

  • Hey Big Brother long time no talk im back in da village for good im ungrounded annd back on da pc : )

  • this(and the one after in the forest ) is simply THE best fighting scene i've ever seen

  • omg! i have this book! cant wait to read the next one!

  • 2:00 lolololll

  • sweet fight *_*

  • It's based off of a book called Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit by Nahoko Uehashi. It was a good enough hit to be translated into many languages, it's a cool book really.

  • omg this is one of the best animes ive ever seen! loved the whole story lines, even though im an action guy and i was expecting more action, the story made me completly forget about that ^_^. 5/5 luved it!

  • 1:40 BALLS! MY ONE WEAKNESS!

  • MORIBITO!!

  • you suck.

  • It depends on what is the most important thing you seek in this. Fights are great, but so are the characters and the relationships between them. But if you were looking mostly for fights, yeah, I quess it is not the best choice.

  • they're sweet fight's though, and the fact that there arn't that many means that the animators can concentrate on 3 minutes of beautiful choreography rather than turning the entire episode into a massive fight where they reuse the same frames over and over again.

i'll talk quality over quantity any day.

  • Balsa=Bad ass

I want to be like her when I grow up

  • no.

  • Oooohh...at 2:00 when she slashes Yun across the face. Hard core.

  • Seirei no Moribito got the best material arts i've ever seen in an anime

  • Balsa is still awesome i know where you can download the hole show at.

  • this fight looks incomplete..where the rest?

  • yes this seen is incomplete

  • Balsa ownz

  • badass

  • never watched this b 4 is a good anime?

  • yeah it is

  • A very solid anime, very good.

  • I like Balsa's english voice better she actully sounds like women in the jap dub she shounds rough

  • that's what makes her awesome. we don't want feminine. we want badass to the bone

  • hell yes

  • yeah but it suits her personality/role in the anime :) I haven't heard the English dub though, I'll check it out, maybe you're right xD

  • Awesome

  • man that is the shit superb fight scenes

  • 1:20-1:30 = my favorite ten seconds of any anime ever.. check out the parallax backdrops!! lol

  • WHY DID THEY TAKE THIS OFF AS?!?!?!?!

  • Because it was good. :(

  • Here I am thinking this would be another sissy kind hearted woman who's personality is the same as every other heroine's. I was wrong. Guess I'll be checking this out after all.

  • is it me or does balsa seem to make all the current spikey haired anime heroes look like amateurs and wannabes?

  • Certainly.
