The only reason the Federal Reserve is able to print dollars like a waterfall to handle the interest on its massive debt..and also why China buys US debt..is that the dollar, until now, has been the world's reserve currency.. other countries need to buy dollars to trade in commodies and oil. If and when that changes (China and Europe are debating to move to other reserve currencies) the current US recession is going to look like a picnic.

Not everyone is wealthy on Wall street, There are about 6000 hedge fund managers, for example, not all of which are wealthy. It is possible for anyone to become a hedge fund manager, but only the strong survive. These are failures.

@1Makyo Stock brokers deal in speculating on future prices, which drives prices up and down..that's only incidentally related to the good and services. And on a more massive scale, wall street deals in junk bonds.. they speculate in DEBT, for instance inflating mortgage debt to ten times what it's worth by trading in worthless paper which is what has bankrupted the country..since your head's in the sand and you hadn't heard about that one.

New York has the largest school district in the nation with over 50,000 teachers

But you could take all the pay checks from 50,000 NY teachers last year & total them up & it still wouldnt total $5 BILLION DOLLARS

And when many of those teachers are paying around 30% in income tax while the Wall Street guy pays 15% -- THEN YOU KNOW SOMETHING IS BAD WRONG IN OUR COUNTRY

Well actually they are PAYING MORE via INCOME TAX.

But most of those make money by investing but that revenue is a CAPITAL GAINS TAX.

They are taxed less but cant write off losses ( or much of losses).

But if you want to RAISE the capital gains tax ok, they will simply move and invest in another country.
