  • F**K Western Psychoanalysis, Long live TOOL!

  • The man has both top comments. On a Tool video. And he's not even a thumbs up whore.

  • How do I get this youtube to make it louder?

  • Long story made short. In 1994 I was 21 years old and I hit a guard rail doing 60mph while listening to this song it was INTENSE!

  • @redeyeaddiction Wow...I hope the tape came out ok. Same thing happened to my mom except she hit a dodge 3500 in the ass doin 40. She was more worried about the Fleetwood Mac cd stuck in the player than anything else.

  • It leaves me dead inssssssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiddddddddddddddddddddddeeeeee! What the hell was he thinking? Epic? Haha! Best part of the song ever...

  • Insert opinion here.

  • also angels can help the devil from the bottom, what else is gonna make you fly out this pit?? definitly not ego or a rotten ladder

  • at the bottom is sand and eals, its alot better up in the sky i found, the moon has plenty to offer and the stars keep you occupied meanwhile

  • Congratulations you are learning to deal with your problems instead of just whining about them. That's life, get used to it. there's not much of a chance it will get better but it's possible. better learn to be solution oriented cause you're going to have to work around problem after problem. Don't whine and don't look for recognition for how much we think we go through.

  • @BoosieBoosieBoosie I like what you said.

  • I kept waiting to hear "DO U WANNA KNOW WHY"

  • Duyghhfjdiu

  • 3:10

If you let life, it will destroy you.

You must figure out who you are to survive life

The bottom rises quickly The hardships and mistakes of life cannot be forgiven

Dry those fucking tears and stand up. Figure out what you did wrong Bury your problems deep within

You've already been through the worst. You are stronger

Throw your mistakes back at life Nothing else you can do

Don't bare guilt You are nothing No one cares

Expose the fear you live in face it and overcome it

    I'm dead inside

  • @JermZzZz1 oi

  • Henry. Fucking. Rollins.

  • I am sure glad other people can relate to this music...And here I thought I was special all of these years~~~ haha, and just kidding my friends. I am just glad to be united with you all !

  • haha thanks to my teacher i found this song.

  • I think the adding shit are simply the negative events and feelings we methabolize in negative ways because of our fear of this evil world but even though we build a mask on our souls to protect them we neither feed them with positive sensations so we close our point of view on how the whole humanity and world suck and that shit adds more and more till we discover that our souls are fuckin empty

  • @TheHardCore89 but thank god for the mask! the whole world is not empty. Its only a perception. u will find something one day to make it all worth while

  • @333lillith yee that's what I meant, and what we're all supposed to do... I found smthn yet to enjoy life and this gift, this incredible connected net of spirits as the world is.. :MUSIC ;)

  • Shit adds the fuck UP!!!!

  • Or is it merely just that you're perception!

  • For instance, shit adds up at the bottom, could be related to a foundation... You have to start at the bottom, and push, build, and grow, let alone evolve! Like a plant, starts as a seed, the roots pop, and it ascends to the surface. It doesn't have to be negative, but it depends on how you as a person percieves reality! If you want to walk around, with the belief, that everything sucks, well, then life will probably suck! The choice is yours!

  • Maybe, just maybe, people will realized that they have a totally messed perception of tools music truly means! Tired of people always thinking maenads lyrics are about anal sex! Kinda ridiculous to believe that he is so shallow! Most of his have to do with the human condition! Metaphorically spoken!

  • Comment removed

  • @ursusaltered funny part about this statement is that while not all of his songs are about anal sex, there is a song on this album dedicated to the subject matter (do you know which one it is?) and he has many songs TITLES insinuating the act.

  • @ursusaltered ty!!! dont feed the bottom feeders, rite?

  • Shit adds up!!!

  • Comment removed

  • is that henry rollins whispering at 3:14

  • "][" {[]} {[]} ][_

  • henry rollins!!!

  • Maynard is GOD

  • @joshiesboy so are you. thats the point he tries to get across on 10,000 days

  • prob my fav from the album...i hurd this in 10th grade while everyone was listing to linkin park and good charllet lol like yeah im way more bad ass then you.

  • i'm naked and fearless ...and my fear is naked.

  • hatred keeps me alive

    lonliness keeps me alive

    weakness keeps me alive

    guilt keeps me alive

    at the bottom

  • ...please explain the song again who-ever; we're all fuckin' idiots over here~~~

  • @lukerstar101 Does there need to be an explanation? Or are you just incapable of interpreting it in your own way?

  • Ignorence builds up at the bottom,

Faith bulids up at the bottom,

armies are formed from the bottom.

  • @Benn0912 The USA army to be precise. forgive the fools who fight for a cause that means nothing and achieves little. pity the fools who die believing they are improving the world with bullets and bombs.

  • @Treespirit11 I am a better human being than Maynard because I am not a sausage smoker.

  • @iliketorofllol but all the broads you fuck are ugly as shit! LMAO!

  • @ItsYourBlood Yeah, your mum is kind of shit to be fair..

  • @iliketorofllol HA! Nice... touché..

  • i just found out that the man who starts talking at 3:14 is Henry Rollins..........kick fucking ass is all i can say

  • @pwnegetime awesome!!! where did u hear that?

  • @333lillith i recognize his voice and since Tool toured with Rollins Band early in their career, it makes sense that they would collaborate together. plus i think i saw it listed on the track one time and it confused me.

  • @pwnegetime Maynard James Keenan was also influenced by the music that Henry Rollins made in the 80s.

  • @Treespirit11 As human beings we naturally want to feel noticed and important. If an idiot can be in the middle of a cluster fuck of attention, regardless of positive or negative attention, he will go for it, regardless of how much moronic bigotry they show.

As said, don't feed the trolls. By affecting your pleasant music experience, and turning that attention to him, you feed his self egotistical idiotdom.

  • Profound Useful Idiot! This album was entirely Catharsis of the soul for a band caught in the undertow of The City of Angels, How ironic!

  • wow, some of you trolls are showing me what j. bieber fans are really like... thumbs up to you all who had the balls to come on a youtube forum and troll the greatest band in history, Maynard 4 prez '12!

  • this song is about how Maynard lost his anal virginity.

  • @iliketorofllol Idiot. The songs about worthless people who don't do a fucking thing noteworthy, yet get praised everywhere they go.

  • @TheRealScarr Wrong.

  • such a bad ass song

  • 5:06 best guitar rift ever invented

  • I uploaded a version with Zack De La Rocha (rage against the machine) instead of this Henry Rollins version... not trying to spam, just spreading some Tool love lol. type Tool Bottom Zack... it should be there.

  • The line "Shit adds up at the bottom" really relates to anyone who has found themselves not contributing anything at all in life, just trying to skate by one day to the next. The garbage in your house starts to add up; the dirty dishes add up; your weight gain starts adding up; your bills add up; -- Shit adds up at the bottom.

  • @SpunkySkunk347 dishes add up? my bottom did not provide me with a kitchen, muchless dishes. bills? you need an address to get those. weight gain? that requires too much food and thats just....they say we all have different bottoms so i'm not one to judge. to all you fellow addicts out there, the sooner you figure this shit out the better. nothing worse than that feeling of being DEAD INSIIIIIIIIIDE. fuck my bottom is so low i havent listened to this album in probably 2 years. thats pathetic!!

  • @SpunkySkunk347

    christ you're so fucking right.

  • @SpunkySkunk347 exactly right my friend

  • @SpunkySkunk347 ii think hes ready to face his past and the person who has obvouisly raped him as a child. to destroy and overcome literally and metaphorically. i am basing this one whole ablum.

  • your just lazy

Life keep throwing these issues into my face with nothing I can do. I have mental and emotional instabilities. All I can do is try. No matter how hard I try to go on, everything crushes down. You have to fight back against that stream. The current of life. Eventually it overwhelms you and shoves you into that pit. You try to fight back and claw your way from the bottom but shit keeps adding up and pushing you in . I can't stand life this way anymore but Tool has helped me hold on.

  • @JermZzZz1 ...well said

  • @JermZzZz1 Thank you for your opinion brother, at times i feel like i cant go on but everytime i read a good book it brings meaning into my life even though im insignificant so just finde out what brings meaning into yours

  • @SpunkySkunk347 i actually think it means when ppl judge you in conventional ways based on shallow bs because you seem to have nothing and be nothing they dont realize you have gained insight they may never have

  • @SpunkySkunk347 nothing to gain and nothing to lose can be a powerful position.

  • Has anyone ever seen the movie "The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat"? The main character in that movie (Fritz) really demonstrates what this song is about -- especially the scene where Fritz finds himself a refugee in the NYC sewers, and just as he finally realizes "Hey, maybe I should accept the minor distractions in life, and do something with my life", he is confronted by Lucifer. Fritz gets down on his knees and begs him not to take his soul, shortly before realizing that Lucifer is a faggot.

  • @SpunkySkunk347 I named my cat after Fritz...

  • @SpunkySkunk347 lol.what a weird twist I just perceived in your comment. its all these typical storyline twists then the last second, and also, lucifer was a faggot

  • tool is loot.

  • motherfucking henry rollins

  • good fukin job danny did god dam lol

  • when I was in 8th grade, I had to recite poems. Guess what I used?

  • Lumped into the grunge genre? Someone needs to go back and really listen to the power of Opiate and remember what music sounded like in 1992. There were no grunge bands singing about those topics or with that refined power. I came here because I had to hear the Rollins part, what a combo. Glad I was alive for it.

  • @Ruklukk i feel like im the biggest tool fan alive but come on, "refined power"??? the beginning of one of the songs starts with maynard screaming "fuck you". "i can say what i want to, even if im just kidding". WOAH blowing my mind with those refined concepts. i love opiate and undertow, and those albums still get regular play with me. but you guys need to lose the hard on....alice in chains-would. layne staley made addiction sound beautiful and complex way before maynard.

  • @c9castine I love Alice in Chains, they changed my life. For my money the lyrics on Opiate are far deeper than those on Facelift (comparing debuts). Refined power comes from riffs like those at the beginning of Cold and Ugly. "way before Maynard" you are aware that Dirt was released in 1992 right? The best you can say is the bands released material in a parallel existence. Tool's energy was different than AIC, STP and Nirvana. Maybe because they didn't just focus on drugs and chicks.

  • @Ruklukk i am aware...and now that i think about it sober was written very early on too, but i see most of opiate and undertow as statements on society and relationships. aenima touched upon it, but again was more society and relationship oriented. it wasnt until APC-thirteen step did he really delve into the issue. so, your right about your last statement on drugs and chicks too. thirteen step was profound to me...i hate to sound like a douche, but that album literally changed my life.

  • @Ruklukk i misunderstoof your statement on "refined power"...i thought you meant more lyrically on opiate. there was nothing refined about that...it was pretty raw and forceful most of the way through by tool/maynard standards. which was exactly what people needed then, and thats why they achieved such success.

  • you all do know thats henry rollins doing the spoken word part right?

  • @TheJayTrain yes, we werent born yesterday.

  • im naked and fearless! and my fear is naked!

  • This was the first album of bought of Tool, its what got me into tool more than I already was, and for that. This is my favorite album.

  • I. Love. This. Song.

  • In Order To Survive You, I Must Survive Myself...I Have Gone To Great Lengths To Expand My Threshold Of Pain...But My Soul Must Be Iron...There's No Other Choice.

    T-O-O-L!!!

  • One of my top 10 of TOOL! love it!!

  • If it was up to me every song on youtube would include lyrics.

  • @anusbleacher u should be to pick up on them as he sayin them...thats the whole point i thought

  • @anusbleacher Don't you have ears?

  • that bass wants to kill me!!!

  • @romanagr

Without getting into the whole ridiculous Justin-versus-Paul debate, I'll just say that I miss that "killer bass" terribly. It was just heavy in an unusual way and made TOOL a totally different band separate from their hard rock peers of the era.

  • @Fakename70 you kidding me? i mean tool has always been different, but pre-95 they could be lumped into the grunge genre. post 95 with aenima and lateralus, they were clearly in their own world. i love paul's style, but the band grew tremendously after him, coincidence or not.

  • @c9castine

So, pre-AEnima TOOL = Mudhoney, TAD, Dinosaur Jr, and SUB POP in your mind then? Really? Are you sure about that? And, while we both agree "the band grew tremendously after him", let's not overlook the fact that that growth was on the strength of an album he helped write.

  • @Fakename70 dont put words in my mouth. i never say i thought tool was ever in a genre but you could understand why people would. they said themselves they were "slam bang" back then. and i also didnt say they wouldnt have grown tremendously with paul, because they already started. he wrote music for stinkfist, pushit, eulogy and aenema. ill also mention undertow is my favorite tool album, and i got into tool because of opiate. dont be so quick.

  • @c9castine

I merely quoted YOUR OWN WORDS back at you in my comments. Re-read what YOU said next time before responding. Maybe then you'll see how contradictory and nonsensical I've found your comments to be.

  • @Fakename70 you turned "could be called grunge" into a bunch of bands i have never heard of and sub pop. and i stand by what i said, tool could be considered grunge pre-95 but to answer your question, no, TOOL does not = those crapass bands. tool is >. and yes, im sure about that.

  • @c9castine

Really trying hard to not get dragged into this argument here, kid...

You clearly have a flawed concept of what particular bands encompassed the so-called "grunge" genre in the early-to-mid '90's if you've not heard of Mudhoney or TAD. And, especially if you think TOOL had anything whatsoever to do with the genre, pre-AEnima. Again, YOU made the "pre-95" TOOL=grunge comment, remember? I merely responded to it, as did someone else. I'll leave it at that. Have a nice day, squirt

  • @Fakename70 im 26, and ive been listening to tool since '93. as i just said YES I DID MAKE THE COMMENT. you clearly are unable to differentiate between be saying "could be" and "is". i know reading is tough but try to sound it out, top to bottom left to right. take tylenol for any headaches, midol for cramps. mudhoney is some early grunge band that nobody gives a shit about, thats what i know. that your getting so upset about me suggesting that one could consider tool grunge pre-95 is funny.

  • Respond to this video... i think we got away from the point here anyway. my point is that TOOL really started to seperate themselves after undertow. by the way, do you feel cool, like your a knowledgeable tool guy, when you capitalize the E in aenima?

  • @Fakename70 your clearly more interested in having an argument, and not a debate, as evidenced by your persistence in telling me my opinion is wrong and yours is right. youve totally forgotten what we are even talking about an are so absorbed in the fact that i suggest your precious godly band could be put into a genre. get over it dude.

  • @c9castine

Ænima. Is that better? Let's make a deal, kid: I'll learn to read if you learn to spell, OK? Remember, you're 26 now. You fail to see why your comment was so odd, not only to me, but, to the other person who called you on it. Re-read that person's 2nd & 3rd sentences in response to your comment that he & I both replied to and maybe you'll see where we're coming from. And, you glorifying AIC lyrics about addiction as "beautiful and complex"? BRILLIANT! Are you a stand-up comedian?

  • @romanagr The bass wants to perform falacio on me.. doin a great job too.

  • @statutoryAPE14 man that really cuts deep...

  • @statutoryAPE14 is gay, and should not have had part in undertow.

  • I wish I had the chance to be able to see Tool live.

They were an ingtegral part of my development and maturation as a human being.

    God Bless Maynard James Keenan!

  • fucking bout it

    never gets old..ever

  • fucking bout it

  • Henry Rollins fucking rocks

  • dead inSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE

  • Favourite song from my favourite album, so much passion behind it.

  • sober and bottom are my favorite songs off of this album

  • @NIN99Koala sober helped me when i had to be sober..i listend to everyday when i woke up so i could stay strong :(.

  • @skudstorm44 Thats awesome to hear, man! Kind of ironic, however, because this song is begging for "us" to never be sober (maybe it could be interpreted the other way?)

  • this is my current favourite song!!! they always change, but never the band.....always tool!

  • HENRY ROLLINS KICKS ASS

  • @TheAbsractMind lateralus is fusure the best

  • 1 dislike? ahahhahahha...

sry, thats funny to me lol

  • I have Opiate and this album on vinyl but don't own a record player. Kinda strange

  • shit adds up at the bottom!!!!

  • @jackiecprice It also floats to the top.

  • eulogy is about bill hicks

  • @horrormonger no, third eye is.

  • @TheReclamation14 They are talking about albums in general, not just one song

  • @Seregfaroth eulogy is not an album, its a song

  • @TheReclamation14 damnit. got you mixed up in the wrong conversation.

    My bad.

  • @Seregfaroth no worries dude

  • @TheReclamation14 Come down, get off your fucking cross,so we can nail the next fool BUDDY !

  • @JYNXED88 That's "nail the next fool martyr".

  • @JYNXED88 That's "nail the next fool martyr". Actually, it's "Get off your fucking cross. We need the fuckin' space to nail the next fool martyr."

  • ...to me its weird that theres STILL people who haven't heard this fuckin album yet.

come on now go get opiate and undertow people!

  • @djgeeter i just got the cd because im 13 and it has been out before i was born srsly

  • @djgeeter i agree man these albums are like my favorites the old maynard fucking kills but hey im not hating for shit cause maynard is my favorite vocalist

  • "Suckthebeef" thats awesome

  • Good LORD people get over emotional about this fucking band.

  • I'm naked and fearless!

  • Henry Rollins tears it up on this track. Great classic song by Tool.

  • 10 years ago, I took a contract job in Saudi Arabia. I bought this album, on cassette tape, and it said on it "Proudly Made In Saudi Arabia". I bought it in a tiny town where I was utterly alone, the only whitey in a town of 15K people, in the geographical center of the place. This tune reminds me of how I used to spend my 'time off' driving my Toyota Hilux in the desert, slowly going insane and loving it. Shit may well indeed wind up at the bottom, but I was on top of the world.

  • thank you suckthebeef i have been looking 4 this collection 4 a long time ;)

  • Speaking part is such a mockery of cliched sayings. :P

  • Excellent - right up there with Muse :D - Love the harder style of Tool compared to the more theatrical Muse but both are Superb :D

  • @oscar1123581321

Muse isn't good anymore, but Origin of symmetry is decent. Check out the mars volta while you're at it.

  • @cjgone2 please remember your opinion (in this case about Muse) is not gospel - I like all their albums ...

  • genius at its finest

  • This is easily one of my fav tool songs.

  • @HistorysMysterys Same, such underrated material and yet it is so awesome!

  • lolz don't feed the troll guys he had a bad day :)

  • @Gamagachee I had a great day fag! Don't act like people give a fuck about you. They don't, trust me

  • @j19318 don't question my sexualality ... other than that i love you.

  • @Gamagachee LMFAO.... That is fucking funny. Your alright man. I <3 U2.

  • aaaaaaaaahahaha !!! retards .. Eulogy was not about jesus !!! read what the guys sais about the song ... you just want to be about jesus , cause you are atheist , and u want to personalize song !!! And thats just one thing that tool are sick of it !!

  • @nikolawesthemkg You are a fucking idiot. I am not an Atheist you dumbass. I am a Theist. The opposite of an Atheist. Maynard is also a Theist , as is the rest of Tool. They are all Theists who have studied Masonic history including Sacred Geometry, Theology, Elegant Mathematics, Astronomy, I could go on and on. They are into The Occult, not Christianity. The song is about Jesus. Get over it. You just WISH it wasn't because you are a Christian and you like tool. Sorry but that is the truth.

  • @nikolawesthemkg They will not say eulogy is about Jesus because he wants you and other christians to continue to give him your money.I think you should without a doubt keep giving your money to tool, they deserve it more that your church does anyway. That is why they say it is about L. Ron Hubbard because nobody gives a fuck about L. Ron Hubbard ecxept Tom Cruise and some other hollywood wierdos and they don't listen to tool. Anyway L. Ron Hubbard has never been on a cross.Just shut up and buy!!!

  • @j19318 as much you dont want it to see , in the song there are few facts that prove that song isnt about jesus .. i will not tell u if u are to dumb to figure out ...

  • @nikolawesthemkg I have talked to Josh from APC. So if you think you are a better source, then whatever. Go pray about it.

  • @j19318 Wow that is so clever I see your trying to sneak in some Hooker with a penis lyrics. Oh ya thats right how could I know that song or even what its about since I'm such a posser. If people want to like Tool for their amazing music then that seems like reason enough to me. Who cares if people don't know what religon they are. You sir are a pathetic asshole. Shut the fuck up and just enjoy the music and drink a guinness.

  • @7jimmyjames Yeah man I had to sneak them in, They are underage. I must be honest, I am shocked that you know the lyrics to that song. Perhaps I should rethink your credibility. I think I will have a guinness. I like it at room temperature. How about you? btw Did you Know they made a book out of that beer?

  • My favorite song off this album!!

  • @7jimmyjames Who cares what your favorite song on this record is? You are a fucking posser anyway. I seen all your little gay comments on the other to
