his dad beat him up in public because he thought joshua (jacob) took his sister's binky, that showed proof to the lady Doctor that joshua was being abused..... causing his dad to go to jail for a couple of days.....

I just watched it. It was great. =] I know it's just a story but the woman to act as his mom was really someone who don't deserve to have a baby,child or such a nice husband in this movie. And his dad was nice at the first but stupid when he knew that Joshua did all the bad things. He was like "I got you". with a little smile. In real life when parents notice it, they should cry and feel sorry about their child.

@enumaerash you're obviously a kid/young person who's never had kids of your own or not old enough to understand certain things... The mom was doing everything she could to help out, but eventually, with a colicy baby she just ran out of patience, that happens in real life all the time... Both parents were at their breaking points emotionally, physically, and sexually, although Sam Rockwell's character handled it a bit better, if you could tell the mom had previous mental problems...

@enumaerash Joshua was sabotaging the families relationship at ever turn... there are actually kids who are sociopath's much like Joshua was... He needed a lot of help, but they had no clue what was going on... He was poisoning his little sister, probably the mom too, she was stressed out beyond ends.... He freaking killed his Grandmother and you think they should just "cry and feel sorry for their child?" seriously?

Ugh... you idiots. Leave this damned movie alone. It was tremendous--unlike the shitty 'horror' movies that are made purely to scare and have no other actual plot/character development *cough*1408*cough*. Ugh. This movie was definitely worth it, leaving you like "OMG" at literally the last frame of the movie.
