If I use 11KV (I have this transformer) 20mA into WVO (direct from the restaurant) it will separate glycerol and it will be safe to use it into my car? I will need to mixe and methanol also?
Hello Mr. I would like to receive better information with details about their experience, what voltage and what equipment you used for general voltage, details. You used pure oil or WVO, you added caustic soda or the oil was pure, enlighten me please My email: americocandido@gmail.com Att Americo Brazil

I've never heard of electricity performing mechanical separation. How does it work? I can't help but think there are other applications for this technique beyond glycerol.
How much voltage will you require to separate the gylcerin in, for example, a 10 ton batch and would it still be safe to use electrostatic separation even with the presence of methanol in the solution?
thank you for this video. biodiesel is very agressive; so my question is: from which point on is it agressive? from separating the glycerol or from adding methanol?
Really nice video, thank you for posting it. Good idea to use a burner ignition coil for the high voltage source (inexpensive and common). What do you use to limit the current to 20mA current?
What I wanted to show was how fast the electrostatic field separated the glycerol from fresh mixed bioD in two different volumes. It works just as well with reacted fresh oil or WVO and is also very very effective at water separation after you wash your biodiesel.
Just to clarify please - the fist demo is separating glycerol from newly made bio? And the second is brewing bio with freshly mixed WVO and methanol/alkali solution? Is the second demo meant to show that bio can be made by electrostatic means very quickly?
I first came across this method when Graham Laming posted his findings on a BioD website. I see Graham also posts here on youtube "GrahamLaming" Well worth checking Grahams work!

Dear Sir.
Can I use a welding machine and two pieces of long screw as electrodes separated with a pvc pipe so they don’t touch?

could one use a 12v bat and car ignition coil for this operation?

I dumped a 240 volt lead with screws attached in my biodiesel and I separated very quickly. Just don't touch the screws!

@worldismine69 Usually a high voltage transformer.

Hi, Agrisonic, I want to know where can I buy that machine, and whats the actual name of it, do we still need to clean the biodiesel with water??
And can we do this on a larger scale with the same Voltage and Amps showed on the video?
Thankss!! nice vide , and very interesting.

Impressive! I,ll try this one out.

I am very interested in speeding up my current process. Have been tryign to make bio in enough volume to run a small farm. Any help appreciated.

@Agrisonic so will it separate glycerol from fresh oil or WVO without adding in the methanol and lye? or does this simply aid the process?

Where can I purchase a electrostatic generator in the U.S.??Rac Shac has no idea.
derf62172 3 years ago
Hey derf62172,
Any high voltage low current transformer will do (6-8kV AC or DC 20mA). I used one from an burner ignition coil.
NOTE: DON'T GO OVER 20mA current!!! and keep your electrodes submerged so no short circuit occurs (No spark).

What would happen if you go over 20mA current?

Hey Northerbrewer,
No this is pre-mixed VO and Methox
Rob.

Not sure I understand what I am looking at.
Is this VO with Methox added and thencharged or just VO?
northerbrewer 3 years ago
"freshly mixed biodiesel"
this means that the CH3OH and NaOH/KOH has already been added
awol09 3 years ago
Yep, I mixed methanol and NaOH to the veggie oil before using the electrostatic field to separate out the glycerol
Agrisonic 3 years ago
Very good idea! I'm in the process of trying it on straight WVO! IWill post the results soon.
