I saw this coming a LONG time ago. I watched five minutes og glee, and it came across to me as high school musical gone secretlige of the american teenager on crack, meaning completely and uttely annoying useless shit television. there was no substance to it in the first place!! (and penny you deserve to have glee disapoint you- you disapointed me for not knowing what a TARDIS is! lol jk.)
I was arguing about this with a couple friends- they absolutely loved the episode. For a while I was wondering if we were watching the same show...from my screen, that Britney/Brittney episode was AWFUL!All the characters (not to mention the story lines) are just getting so one deminsional.
You're right on the mark with all your thoughts, but I have faith that the show will pull itself together. At this point they're just trying to pull in numbers for the rest of the season. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt at this point.
I tend to agree. It's losing its quirkiness and is just becoming a massive music video with characters regressing here and there just to suit the 'weekly theme'. The music on Glee was really the thing that hooked me but there needs to be a semi-decent plot or, as you said, we can just watch the original film clips! I really hope Glee gets its groove back. It’ll be a real shame if it doesn’t.
I completely agree with you guys! Dear writers, Pick the songs to fit the story not write the story around the music. And I don't watch Glee to see remade music videos. I found that part of the episode annoying. If I want to see the videos, I'd just watch the videos.

GLEE IS NOTHING LIKE SHOW CHOIR. Oh my God. As an avid performer at my high school, I find it an insult that people want to join show choir just because of Glee. I used to love Lea Michele (She was the lead for *years* in this amazing musical called Spring Awakening), but Glee has completely ruined her voice from being a low, innocent voice to a pixelized pop singer.
And the Glee fans are crazy at my school. I walked into a group of girls crying while listening to The Only Exception.
I agree, I thought the episode was not good. I think that the songs were a lot better back in the first half of the first season, when they were just starting off. They connected with the plot without making it too cheesy. Also this season they could have NOT made Rachel Berry COMPLETELY INSANE. "This relationship can't work unless we're both losers?" WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT.
Yeah I agree, I'm normally a huge glee fan but I was disappointed with last nights episode, I felt like there wasn't enough attention to the plot it was just random bits between songs, and that the remakes of the videos were unnecessary.
They seem to be forgetting that it's not about the big production numbers, it's about the comedy, the talented and honest performances, and the joy that it brings it's audience.
I don't like Glee at all...but I thought the Britney episode was supposed to be a huge moment for the show...I guess not. :-/ The songs are still number one on Itunes and there's the like 5 in the top 10 singles from that episode.

I ADORE glee. I'm a bit obsessed:) I think that the back nine episodes were a bit of a mess but, not horrible. I actually like the second season so far. B/B was obviously just an episode to get more viewers and have a bit of fun, much like the RHPS episode will be. And I think more people than usual are now going to tune in for Grilled Cheesus which looks to be one of the best episodes. But, this is just my opinion, love you guys!=)

You guys need to chill. A series can not stay the same for season after season, it needs to develop. I honestly wouldn't watch it if they kept on duplicating the same trick over and over again. I loved the new episodes, although they are quite different from the first season (ep.1 not so much, but definitely ep. 2).
And please refrain from the conspiracy critique, and let's trust the makers of this great series.

Perhaps also, this will be their tradition of always having a second episode paying homage to a specific famous artist and the episode just simply being big and flashy followed by an episode that pulls the heart strings and rein it back in. Its all about balance and they have 26 or so episodes so they have lots of episodes to satisfy. However I do like it when the song fits the character like artie's stronger, but heather's dancing was very entertaining to watch.
This video reminds me of 'REALLY? with Seth and Amy' -- that segment from SNL's weekend update. And now to a segment we call REALLY? with Matt and Penny.
I'm starting to get sick of Rachel. I would just love one episode without a Lea Michele ballad. And I really thought her Baby One More time was a stretch. The key change just did me in.
I didn't mind the first two dream sequence music videos. Glad they got to feature Heather's amazing dancing. But the Rachel and Artie ones just seemed out of place. Overall the character and plot development were lacking compared to usual. Really hoping they ditch the themed episodes.
guys! its only episode 2! watch at least a few more episodes. Ryan murphy obviously sees that a britney episode is a flashy episode just like the madonna one where its mostly about entertainment and not exactly fitting a song into the character's story. This is what attracts viewers. Did you guys see the next episode? It looks very emotional and heart wrenching and it looks like their songs will actually fit into a character's plot line. So they certainly have different ways of handling songs.
I totally agree, and they've made rachel crazier and meaner than usual. Rachel used to be one of my favorite characters on glee but now they've turned her into a monster. Glee has become too commercial now. It used to be great unknowns that had talent and all about H.S. kids. NOW, everybody has to be on it! It's gone Hollywood.

On a side note, Darren Criss(Harry from A Very Potter Musical/Sequel) got cast for Glee which is insanely awesome & I'm super excited to see him even if this season is bad.
