A wonderful rendition, I am personally drawn to the original theres more feeling in choral music, but I can feel the emotion of the players in this performance. This is why I am a music ed major, to give young people the ability to let all their emotions out through music.

heyy we played this for large group this year and we also palyed the grantham (southern harmony) and you guys sound amazing:) i love the oboe:) thts wat i play.. but anyways yall sounded way better our brass sukk like band and they make the band sound like shit... but GREAT JOB
Shoulda heard the USC Thornton Wind Symphony perform this yesterday, with Lauridson present to comment on the work prior to the performance.. Now, THAT was a performance/!
My band played this my senior year, i had the euphonium solo at the end, for me this song was the best song we ever did my highschool career, the only song to bring tears to my eyes while playing it... so beautiful.
@Cona1026 you too? lol. i am a euph player too and i was the same way when i played it in this band. the best band i have ever been in by far and definitely one of the most touching and beautiful songs ever. thank you for your props to this magnificent band i was so graciously a part of!
i love this piece. played it with the Honor Band of America under the baton of H. Robert Reynolds himself. It was incredible. Great recording! Very emotional.
played it my sophomore year and playing it again this year with a group outside of school that makes it sound absolutely gorgeous, i love this piece :)
Stellar performance, especially for a high school band. This may sound easy to play, but can be difficullt if the band does not listen and play as one. I also play clarinet and tenor sax and majored in music ed. for 2 years, but switched to Csc. I have a large collection of symphonic band recordings (458) you might like. The link is on my page. Best of luck to you.
outstanding! very talented group of young people. Thank you all for your inspiring and beautiful playing. you guys did justice to Lauridsen's masterpiece. Thanks again
This is absolutely incredible. You can tell when it is an emotional performance, this is far more emotional than any recording of this I've heard. Heck, comparable to professional recordings. Bravo. It must have been quite an amazing experience.
The MOST emotional experience I've EVER experienced playing....definately. This experience is what made up my mind of majoring in Music in college. (which I think I'm going to be Music Education major)
Just beautiful. Is this a highschool band?? You guys are great! I saw this done by a professional orchestra and it was flawless... but you guys are wonderful too!!!
I was the first chair tuba in this band, and I never got a recording. Do you mind sending a the professional recording to me as well? Our clinician was incredible! Best clinic I've ever been to by far.
Yeah, just give me your email address and I'll be glad to send it to you. Do you want Americans We and Symphonic Dance No. 3 as well? I would send you Testament but the file's too large to attach to an email.
And for my first band clinic, the clinician was incredible! I love him to death and I strive to be like him! Plus, his son was adorable :)
amazing oboe
