Jef was pretty paranoid about that moon in this episode. I doubt the moon is working for the Land of the Rising Sun (lame pun derp).

Also, the enemy convoy apparently did more damage to itself than Jef did to it. Valid submarine tactics = hang around and wait for the enemy to annihilate themselves trying to catch the tiny little sub? Naval Destruction Derby.

You should just use your deck gun. Even against destroyers. ESPECIALLY against destroyers.

Your too hard on yourself Jef. This LP is a riot, and I don't say that at your expense. I love that your not a stodgy "expert" like a great deal of the S.H. LP'rs, those guys put me to sleep. Also, I'm sure many Sub Captains felt your pain with duds and near hits back in the day. The drama is fantastic and the Sphincter Pucker factor stays high. Keep it up, I love this LP!

@ JefMajor Is there a minimum arming distance on torpedoes in this game? In SH3 I remember torpedoes being duds if they hadn't travelled far enough from my Sub.

@Conwyse i'm not jef but i think I can tell you that: did you notice that in the line that indicates the torpedo route there's a part nearby the submarine that it is thinner? that's the arming distance (I think, I'm not sure, but by searching a little bit i think that's it)

PS: your @ Jefmajor is with a space between the @ and Jefmajor, and it's not JefMajor, it's Jefmajor, letters are case sensitive, careful with that =)

@Angelonio01 That does make some sense, but the thinner line also corresponds to the initial turn as the torp' reaches its heading.

A second Google found a great post in the Ubi forums - "SH4 V1.2 Ultimate Torpedo Guide", arming distance is 220 meters, and Mk 14s have serious issues when no striking abeam.

This is exactly why i turned dud torpedoes option off... sure it's realistic to have them but it's so satisfying to hit with a torpedo so if i get to the point where the torpedo actually hits a ship i want it to actually always do some damage lol.
