  • It's toki and skwisgaar!

  • It's move!

  • Fredrik's guitar is like an Ibanez Iceman 8string monster. Awesome!

  • say anything about dino is very tricky? he is talking about dino cazares of fear factory? somebody answer me please

  • Shouldn't a lesson involve some sort of explaining? He's just playing the riffs.

  • @sparriskrigaren this is just a cut from the original video, search a little more

  • Fredrik doesnt play EMG's, I think he plays Nevborns

  • @cutegrimmjow38 I use DragonBorn Pick-ups

  • @21Assasin fag

  • @cutegrimmjow38 I think they're Lundgren pickups, if the Ibanez signature they have coming out is to their specs. Not sure.

  • @TRMcGee91B Shit they have a sig coming out, hope it comes in lefty...

  • @CardgamesonYoshi Ibanez.com has a picture of it. You could always do like Hendrix did and flip the guitar to make it lefty haha. It's the RG bodystyle...not exactly adventurous, but it's a drop dead gorgeous guitar...and the only Ibanez I'd consider buying.

  • @TRMcGee91B Yup, Lundgren M8 in the bridge

  • it move

  • it..move...

  • It's like a bass, but it's a guitar...

  • The hardest part for me is the fast switching between the strings

  • Kerry king could hang with these guys np

  • DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR-D-DRR

  • playing the bass guitar never looked so awesome...

  • i dream thatr fredrik gave me his hand to help me to climb a roof on a house was amazing

  • The most awesome thing about this way of playing other than time and signal changing is the fact that it's rooted on a lot of rhythem technique. I just bought a Schecter Hellraiser Special C-8 that will be at my home on Friday. I can not wait to dive in this way of playing guitar.

  • "It... Mooove..."

  • @Byobrulez

Probably, if you tune it down. But it might be like tuning a six string really low; the strings would be like spaghetti.

  • @o0ShadowsfeaR0o I've done it, but I got thicker strings. It just depends on what you have. I've tuned my sevenstring to Drop E and octave down before.

  • Can you play this with a seven string?

  • This song gave me Boneitis.......

  • it.... move 1:00

  • I'm going to buy a Schecter Hellraiser 8-string.

  • @Emikropz

Or play it an octave higher? :P

  • @Pierrot110194 it wouldnt be the same........itd be.............meshuggay sounding

  • @Emikropz noooooooooooo

    buy a good one...

sure the schecters are cheap but theres a reason for that..

ah well thats just my opinion based on playing the schecter 8 string hellraiser

  • @Xiphos707fx I need one good reason. What I've heard is fine.

  • @Emikropz cool for you then

  • @Xiphos707fx Hahaha! You can tell me the guitar I wan't is poor, but not even give me one good reason.

  • @Emikropz sorry if i gave you an impression that i care enough to give you a reason before, but because i'm bored here's several. I've played it and the neck is too thick, i've got a decent sized hand and it's uncomfortable to reach down to the bottom string. The 26.5 inch scale is way too short unless you're going to use a high A 8 string, as in normal 6 on the middle 6 strings with a B below and an A above. my last reason is more taste really but emg pickup is really only for chugging.

  • @Xiphos707fx Thanks for some serious talk. But wtf?! It's an 8string, what did you expect? Sure it's thick, and of course, If u goes from 6string to 8string, but you get used it. EMG Pickups is my fulltime favorite and don't understand why u don't like it, but anyways.

  • 2 Years after this video i can play the fucking pattern well

    My life is now complete

  • @todeswalzer123 do you think you could explain it to me?

  • in a few days i´m goin to record a video of that ultraslow ahaha

  • Is it possible to play this on a six string?

  • @NachoAmigo97 i don't think so - i'm trying to learn this myself on a seven string

  • @NachoAmigo97 not unless its a baritone, or if you had SUPER heavy strings, but normally no :(

  • Could someone help me out on this part?---->0:00-2:28

  • hell yes! I've been learning this alone but the part about 3 minutes into the song is very technical and hard to understand. I got the pattern but.. it's so crazy. I'm a metal drummer who hurt my hands from impact over 8 years. Messhugah is my ideal guitar style haha!

  • the iceman is just such a perfect guitar shape. I love my IC400

  • wow - that low string sounds amazing

  • That 8 string Iceman is so freakin AWESOME!! There is no amount of money that I wouldnt pay for one.

  • This song IS hard to play, because timing, technique and consistency is what it is based on, without that your just peddling an open string

  • It's all about rythm. That's why when you hear them, you're thinking Meshuggah and not a specific member. They all provide rythm to the songs and eventhough their songs with more melody are very good, they master at the rythmically challenging songs.

  • I love fredriks input in this video

Fredrik: It... move *circle hand motion*

  • And people laughing on Fredrik's "It.... move..:" statement is silly because the guys fucked up the microphone during the sentence if you listen closely.

  • o,o

  • This song isn't hard at all, but man, that timing and consistency is hard to get, that's why is a pain in the ass to play.

  • Ha! 1:13 "Dun dun BOOOUM"

  • There's a freeware program called 'Amazing Slow Downer' which slows down a song without changing the pitch. For any of you (attempting to) learn(ing) this song, you should check it out!

  • These guys totallys reminds mes of Toki and Skwisgaar...

  • 0:58 it moves....

  • I like meshuggah, but even I can admit that sounded awful, sounded like there was no change in the whole song....

  • @benz264 did you even listen to the song?

  • @benz264 You make it VERY apparant you have never played any instrument.

  • @MikePostDrums i have for many many years and i said the same thing these guys are probably very talented but their writing is not very creative or inspired then again i'm not a fan of the whole new style metal metalcore or whatever it's labeled these days. plus if you listen to decapitated these guys just become a moot point.

  • @MikePostDrums and yes i realize that there are subtle little time changes with the switch in note patterns but it just isn't very hard to actually play and the song sounds the same throughout so while i can appreciate what they are doing it's still boring imo

  • @babykkkyle No, it's not very hard to play on guitar, I think -- compared to drums, at least. Once you have the patterns down it's down to muscle memory and stamina. The latter being the biggest problem with this song..

  • Fuck yeah, I can play it now!

After wanking for a week non-stop, my hand has enough stamina and speed!

  • it....move.....

  • omfg its so fucking brutal

  • These guys must be able to beat their dicks in to submission in to less than 5 seconds.

  • WTF. IBANEZ ICEMAN 8 STING?

  • if you arent watching the video.. close your eyes and listen,, at :32 to :45 sound like straight up shit

  • they make those 8 strings look tiny.

  • he said: "this is a rhythmic exercise"

he should have said; "this is because were to badass for mortal men"

    SNM

  • that's fucking MESHUGANA!!

  • Rhythmic exercise??? More like rhythmic mind fuck.

  • 0:57 its move haha

  • rhythmic exercise?i call it torturing my forearm

  • You don't learn this song, you wait for an epiphany.

  • first time i heard this I was like "how the fuck..." now that i see it closely and clearly i go "how the fuck..."

  • yes! 20 years of jerking off my micropenis will pay of!! Hah!!

  • An 8 string Iceman is the most badass thing i've ever seen.

  • Why is the guitar so fucking bright. It hurts my ears.

  • @guitarrhythymfool you need to have loads of high end on tunings that low otherwise it sounds like shit.

  • @thispagesux Really? I tune my 7 down to drop G occasionally, and all I need to do to keep a usuable sound is cut my lows and push my mids a little more. Opens up the sound, and you get better note clarity without making your sound all fizzy.

  • @guitarrhythymfool my pal had an awsome tone he set up in guitar rigg, it sounded great on a 6 string but when he plugged his 7 string RG it sounded like shit. the only way he got it sounding good was to remove lots of bass and boost the highs. he had it tuned to A standard. I think EMG are a must if you tune really low, they have a sharper, crisper sound. my guitarist has EMG on his christian olde wolbers signiture jackson 6 string and he gets amazing tone when he tunes down.

  • @thispagesux I have to disagree about the EMG's. Periphery tune to Drop G# for all of their 7-string stuff, and for the most part use passive pickups, Bareknuckle being Misha's favorite.

  • I bet Fredrik bought a truck.... he tried to turn it on and falied thousand of times... trr-trrtrrtrr-trr ... trr-trrtrrtrr-trr ... trr-trrtrrtrr-trr ... trr-trrtrrtrr-trr ... trr-trrtrrtrr-trr ... trr-trrtrrtrr-trr ... and in the end thought "mmmm this is badass..." took his guitar, got hated by their band members and now we cream ourselves watching this.

    Thank you broken truck! xD

  • hes like a fuckin machine seriously

  • This song is appropriately titled. If your fingers dont bleed afterwards, you played it wrong

  • @CapnPuff69 Then they should've called this song Carpal Tunnel

  • @Meshuggaaaahhhhh bleeding carpal tunnel ;)

  • @Meshuggaaaahhhhh I haven't seriously laughed out loud at a comment in a long time. But these two really did it for me... :D

  • god tier musicians. Not even the man himself can explain the riff whats he say? "it...move" bahaha

  • Why is it when i try to learn a Meshuggah song my brain says "Fuck You!"

  • LOL. Bleed's so fast I can't even think the rhytmics in my head without slowing it down, and I can never remember the thrills and cycles precisely enough to remember the whole thing. Fucking Meshuggah :D

  • This isn't really a lesson. Even if it's four notes in a row, I never really heard it until my guitar teacher showed it to me in person at probably like 10% speed.

  • The one thing i dont understand about you people on youtube with guitars and webcams....you have this video, explaining how to play the song, by the two heroes themselves....and people still post videos of themselves playing it wrong

  • Man, i feel bad for making fun of them, theyre musicaly chalenged based on this video.

  • @FiendMachine04 feel better?

  • @langestock about my guitar skills? HELL YES

  • 8 string iceman? 0,o my god this world is sick

  • "Its.....Moooo"

  • This sounds like the easiest riff on guitar ever....hahaha....i was fucking wrong.

  • @PASTAandMUSE exactly... most of meshuggah is very deceiving thats why alot of people say they sound the same

  • 1 tip = capture the sound and slow the sound down. It's the only way to get an idea of how they really do it

  • That guitar is tasty. so is the tone. so is the riff. hell this whole video is awesome!

  • for some reason, this song reminds me of a massive thunderstorm with insane winds and shit.

  • play 4 5 3 repeatedly xD

    Fredrik: MOO

Marten: Or like this. *plays riff* xD

  • So simple yet so impossible

  • lets see a lesson for the drumming

  • LEGENDARY riff imho.

  • this song kinda reminds me of TOOL

  • hit 4 repeatedly! MOOO!

  • @mikeythepikey69 MOOshuggah

  • I would give my left nut to have one of those guitars.

  • That low G is insane on Skullcrusher headphones.

  • @GrizzLBD it's F#, not G

  • @robinBjordison I thought that the guitars were tuned to E-B-E-A-D-G-B-E in this song

  • @LWRCftw could be, too. but G would be to high. the most of Meshuggah-songs are on F#, but it's such deep that you can't really hear a difference between F# or E, you only can see it, but I haven't seen when the play power-chords with the deep strings.

  • @robinBjordison At :41 isn't he at the 1st fret?

  • @GrizzLBD yeah he plays on the first fret but he plays single-notes no powerchords. and I don't hear if thats a G or a F!

  • @robinBjordison Mypoint was that if Meshuggah's in standard 8 string tuning then the first string on the lowest string is a G/

  • @GrizzLBD the first string on the lowest string? you mean the first fret I think...yeah, that would be right. that would be in standart tuning a G. cause the standart-tuning for an 8string-guitar is F#-B-E-A-D-G-b-e.

  • @GrizzLBD Standard on an 8 string is EBGDAEBF# and Meshuggah mainly play a semitone lower, EbBbGbDbAbEbF

  • @asthepalacesburn2

    8 standard: F#BEADGBE

    meshuggah: FBbEbAbDbGbBbEb

  • @asthepalacesburn2 Oh, hey, cool. Thanks.

  • inhuman. these mother fuckers create inter-dimensional rythms

  • is this an 8 string guitar?

  • I can tune a normal 6 string just a half step down and play this song. Although it does not sound as down tuned, they are essentially the same notes.

  • Hello there we're Fredrik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström and we're here to destroy your dreams.... lol :P

  • If that's playing guitar in a regular manor..... what the hell does irregular sound like?

  • where can you get the 7/8 string iceman!?!?

  • @B3LTRAN89 must be a custom

  • @snitchnjabbajaw

    @B3LRTRAN89

yeah They are, they also have a 30 inch scale length 0_o

  • you need a 8 string guitar to play this, unless of course you can tune your guitar down to A lol

  • @YourRoadToHell They tune to F. And I have .17, .26, .36. .46, .64 and .80 on one of my six strings and it works fine, you just need to file down the nut, turn the screws on the bridge a little and move the truss rod a tad and it's fine

  • if you think this is hard, imagine the drummer playing the same rhythm on the double bass....throughout the entire song.........while keeping time on the hi hat......and providing the back beat on the snare....and touching up with ghost notes at the same time......

  • 1:14 Fail!!! XD

  • this is indeed a rhythmic exercise

  • my pants just go so tight from the guitar part ... ._.

  • Playing through this song loosens up your wrist so much, awesome warm up!

  • so bascily the songs impossible to learn

  • @xBCxRICHx1993 lmao exactly

  • @xBCxRICHx1993 i somehow got the key to this riff over night. Didn't really learn :D

  • no matter how many times I hear it I cannot wrap my head around that riff (or entire song for that matter)

  • Rhytmic exercise !!?? are they fucking kidding me? This is impossible to play

  • Their tone is sooooo nice!

  • 8 string iceman is freakin awesome

  • Never heard a guitar player saying "MOO" :D

  • ...betcha cant play this...

  • @robostomo1 I betcha my goddamn right arm, that, I ...Can't haha I can't.

  • even that retard calls his own "music" exercises

  • @dopefiend138 - interested in why you put music in quotes, and why it's problematic to you that he called his music exercises...?

  • @dopefiend138 You're an incredible dickhead. He's not a retard. He's a swedish guy speaking english. You're a retard. Let's hear your inane criticisms over and over in swedish. Maybe they would make sense that way.

  • @dopefiend138 Ever heard that track"I don't need no doctor"? Cause we all think you do!!

  • @vtwinmama is that Humble Pie?

  • I like just listening to this riff.

  • The hardest thing about learning this song is the change in patterns, I didn't struggle to keep up with it timing wise, just learning when the change was the most difficult part

  • Ive watched like 100 videos I still cant get the rhythmic pattern

  • @JediStamos 3 hits,1 pause,1hit and 1pause.And it repeats.

  • it all sounds like the same note...lol...

  • @thearmegedan thats cause its all based around the same note. and its not about changing the notes and all this jazz.

  • @godofwar5 well thank you for clerifying...i was confused...and thank you for not being one of those people who starts arguments over youtube because when i saw that i got a response i was expecting some pissed off guy :D

  • @thearmegedan no worries bud, lol its all the same note because thats what this song is more about lol thats all, Meshuggah are more about rythems then anything else lol.

  • @thearmegedan maybe cause it is lol

  • it all in the wrist lol

  • it....move.

    thanks for the tip.

  • i watch this video only to hear - it.... move....

  • Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug,

    Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug.

  • satans coming...

  • this shit is hearty as

  • @NZGuitarGuy The rythm is actually called "herta" and not hearty ;)

  • Lmao Love these guys and yeah great way of putting it "it... move..."

  • The ultimate workout and test to see if you are using a proper technique really. If you've been playing for i.e. 10 years and still get so tired in your arm that you can't play the whole song, you need to do something about it. Improper technique excercised over a long time will get you all kinds of problems in the end.

  • ive been masturbating so much to be able to play this riff. i also just like to masturbate lol

  • @guitarman2839 Well, and i've been playing this riff so much to be able to masturbate!

  • @guitarman2839 best comment ever
