You know when it's real music when it makes you cry while smiling. What a phenomenal performance?! I just became a Anita O'Day fan last night. I was first listening to June Christy and then swung by Anita O'Day and was curious. I am glad I swung by it or I would have missed one of the greats! I wish I was there at the live performance!
@neondave From my nowadays shaky memory, the bass was made by Ampeg and had an electrostatic pickup.I seem to recall that Rick Danko from the Band used one. If you check out old photos of the Band you may find other pictures of one of these.
I have to say, I am an Anita O'Day fan, and following her as I have, I am quite sure (if there is any personal commentary on her part following this recording) that she would have liked to fire this guitarist... Gimme a break!! Beew, beauw, beeuw, beew, Beew, beauw, beeuw, beew, Beew... Get the drift... More notes? A little more range? YOU the guy in blue really hemmed in Ms. O' Day with your lack of talent!!! Sorry, but the dame deserved more than you gave her on this one! I am being nice!
@uboob67 I suspect you are incorrect in your criticism of the guy who is actually the bassist. It is arguable that he is too loud in the mix, but that is not necessarily his fault.
Well I was delighted with the movie and the extras. I think that Anita sang "Travelin' light" better than any other singer along with a lot of other myriad songs!
