The Tops were some baaad boys back in the day. But they weren't quite as well known globally like the Temps were. Most people know all of the classic Temptations by name, but most people only know Levi Stubbs of the Tops. They both were dynamic groups, but no one can quite measure up to the Classic Five, Temptations!
You're right there. My boyfriend refers to the Tops as 'Bottle, Tank, Spinning and Brick'. He's a Temps fan, I'm a Four Tops fan. It's obviously possible to love both, but there's always going to be a first choice if you see a new Temps record and new Tops record and you've only got the cash for one.
Plug plug - I think the Temps said their new album's out 1st May? 4th May? 'Soon' at least. And man, their new stuff still has the Temps sound to it, so it might be worth it.
This is the day when music was music. The music lifted and filled you with only good things. Sorry, but the music of today will never compare. These so called
R and B can't hold a candle to the old Motown. Oh my God!, I sound like my parents. I hate to admit it, but they were right.
in the late 1968s Eddie Kendricks was uncomfortable with singing the psychedelic style that Whitfield was now crafting , (such as the Grammy winner "Cloud Nine" (1968),I Can't Get Next to You" (1969), and "Ball of Confusion) for the group as opposed to the"I'll Be in Trouble" (,"The Girl's Alright With Me" "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)" "Get Ready" Just My Imagination" "You're My Everything under the direction of Smokey Robinson
More of the previous comment: Go home, and make Detroit what it once was and can be! For crying out loud, Kid Rock has bought a place here in Nashville! Ted Nugent lives somewhere down south. I'm not sure where Bob Seger is, let alone Berry Gordy and all of the Motown people who are still alive (LA?!). Aretha, God Bless You, I think you're still in the Detroit area somewhere, and loved the hat!
If I was from Detroit, this video would inspire me to go home and make it work! Anyone and everyone from Detroit, who has moved to greener pastures, whether because of the weather, the economy, the crime, needs to go home and make it work! There is too much history, from the auto industry to the music industry, to let this city go down the tubes. If you build it, they will come, and it has to start with the people who built it over the past 10-50 years and left.
it is, but before it was Detroit Rock City(Seger, Nugent, hah even KISS), it was Motown. Detroit really has great history... it's the original Rock City, Motown, Motor City, and of course Hockey Town.
This is a very clever video and I love the Temps and The Four Tops
