@TetsuMatiaro Yep, it goes like that sometimes. I remember long long ago in a comunity board far far away, I came accross a nest of fellow Armored Core players. Back in the days of PS2. I found an old comment and brought it up. Out of no where it flared up and the origional poster was wondering how the hell it even came back up again. So yeah, ya never know.
Blood Roar is a series worth lending a word, and in need of lending them. It truely is a series under appriciated.
@KillerGuitar007 The cool thing about Bloody Roar is that some of it's basic special moves are it's dramatic finishers. Some moves can create a dramatic effect if a certain hit of a move is the one that finishes them off. In Bloody Roar 1 it could cause a blur effect, screen going white, or screen going black and the like. In later tittles you might see, instead of a multi image like blur, a kind of over all impact screen blur effect. I think even the colors going negative sometimes.
This is a good match here. You'll see how back and forth it can truthfully get. Being in beast mode can heal your health in most of the games, and you can choose to chance it and get more damage fighting as a beast, or if you really need that health, most of the later games you can pull your beast drive move and just get it back at once and try to do your last heavy hits as a beast and have to go back into being human.
So if no one got that hit in to stun you, you could have a very anime like experience, where you do quick weaves, hops, lean backs, and punish your opponent when they come into hard and miss. Meanwhile if you did get hit, you can let yourself fall, or air recover and do so in a direction that suits you.
A juggle that kills is possible, but as said if it happens you're partly to blame. Meanwhile it takes a keen player who can adjust their combos and use different combos to keep up and keep it up
If you were killed by just one string, then you were much in part to blame in this series. Partly why when the computer does rip you a new one, you don't feel quite so cheated. You saw and understood fully where you blew it. And being that basic special moves killing you at parts making the end sequence seem all the more flashy, it's kinda cool to watch where someone got caught at that.
In later games as well if someone's hit timing was way to predictable, later games had a quick dodge option.
@aSuperbadassninja And was removed later and a chunk of his move set handed over to the next narcissist, Jenny the Bat. And that's right, I said HE. Fox was a guy dressed up very feminine like and obsessed with his looks. A mix of Benimaru from the KOF games and the vile need to be pretty and destroy ugly things as a mind set. No one knows what happens to him after he takes this horrible mind set and destroys his own mother. It's assumed he simply went nuts after such, well more nuts that is.
@tnpan Psh, welcome to fighting games. MVC2 is declared one of the best fighting games of all time yet spam happens more than bad ideas for Old Navy commercials.
@Hiporopopia Yeah, not the best, but in it's defense, such is all the easier to read and air recover out of and probably have a good idea what to come out of the sky with to make the juggling player regret it.
Super Combos are something like impossible to block, they are chained, and your enemy has no time to recover in air.
These wouldn't work in arcade, survival, etc. Because, your enemies mostly will block and recover in air. Your enemies gets smarter, and in time, these moves you done in this vid, are not gonna work. Like, i'm sorry if i offended someone, but it's the truth. THESE MOVES SUCK. They doesn't even look good. It's all the it's the same thing all over again. Not looking good.
@TetsuMatiaro True, these don't look the greatest. Also true they are not a sure death sentence. But if someone recovers in the air every single time they're just as predictable and can be juggled to death as you see here. In reality the juggle system in BR is all the more fair, part of it becoming a game of guess, anticipation, reading the enemy, and feeling for the right distance and hit boxes.
I prefer such over the sure hit rinse and repeat combos that yield certain death. THAT I find broken
Perhaps recovering in the air might become predictable over time, but the point is, that these are supposed to be "super combos" just like the title states. If these are super combos, then I'm a goddamn giraffe.
@TetsuMatiaro Yeah I wouldn't exactly call them super combos. Truth be told the glory about the Bloody Roar games, but also what chases away those so called hard core players that want combos that they can entirely memorize as long strings without having to vary, is that you need to be ready to change up.
No one combo is an infinite, honestly that's the way fighting games were meant to be in my opinion. If you have an infinite, it means your combat system was able to be poorly abused.
I agree, infinite combos are horseshit, but moves that are chained together, plus that they work, are awesome. They are great to watch, and you can always annihilate your opponent. But the moves that THIS smartass does, they are also horseshit. Repetitive, and simply dull.
@TetsuMatiaro Well you'll be happy to know that from Bloody Roar 3 I think and onward, the varriants between how characters have their effects, even combo links, can change dramatically. Not only does beast mode open up some doors, but when you go into the Rave mode it does more than just make you faster and stop the timer.
Some characters will get life drain abilities per hit lit, others will be able to link new combo sets, and other characters obtain the ability to link command moves.
Well dude, I really can't continue this conversation, because it goes far over my limits of understanding. I haven't any other BR than Extreme, so I gotta say, it's hard from me to say anything at all.
@TetsuMatiaro It's actually one of the most well rounded tittles for concept and play. But yeah, part of what's great about Bloody Roar is that it dosn't trap you in combos that mean certain death. The series has been described as a brutal high paced chess match at times. It truly can be anyone's game until the end and yet if there's someone who was juggled to death, chances are they became quite predictable.
"chances are they became quite predictable." I COMPLETELY AGREE. This game is good, because you are facing opponents that are smart enough to read your moves if you do them too many times.
@TetsuMatiaro Bloody Roar 3 and onward were not just good games, but easy to pick up and yet quite the details can keep people seeing something new for some time, and quite the back and forth matches. Even realistic thoughts such as running and gaining more distance, before turning around to get your face punched, just like in the anime movies, becomes a very real consideration for example.
Care to see just how many small details BR really has? Check out gamefaqs.com some time.
OMFG!!! esos son los super combos? bueno para ese Bloody seran super combos pero para el Bloody de ahora son mucho mejores ademas ese yugo tiene patas de carnero xD salu2 a todos los q le bacila ste juego... >=P
these were super combos at the time. kinda like metal bands. old school bands have very poor extended solos compared to newer bands but they kicked ass in their time anyway, and still kick ass today.

BR4's health use is different.
